Awesome location, very happening! Friendly servers, and food was very good! Crowded during weekends, but worth the crowds. We had conch fritters and lobster wrap, super tasty. Highly recommended to enjoy the music and scenes, while out for a drink or bite to eat.

Gilbert's is a very well located hotel close to Miami that has been refurbished recently. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only downturn is that on weekends the "Resort" turns into a public park with full of events and letting people from outside coming by boat or car and enjoy the restaurant and have a beach day! Loud live music, bearded, tattooed people and bikers, police and security guarding the place and order since 7 am until 7 pm. I feared for my safety and my family's integrity because at any given moment any of the people onsite might ignite a fight and have disastrous consequences. Debut and farewell from this joint full of cheap and vulgar people.

Stayed at Gilbert’s in room 307 two years ago. A quirky old Florida style motel with nice grounds and a tiki bar. Rooms are simple but clean the only issue we had was the shower which was more often cold than warm and had a very small trickle. We mentioned it to the front desk. Maintenance checked it out, but no avail. At the time we didn’t think to much of it and only stayed 1 night so it wasn’t to big of a deal. This year we returned and lo and behold we had the same room, 307. This time for 2 nights. Only to find out the shower had the same issue as 2 years ago. We talked to the front office and they said the’ll look again, but again to no avail. When returning to the room at the evening, the shower had the same issues. At check out we asked if we could speak to the manager, because when I pay $440 a night for a 2-star motel, the least I expect is a good warm and hard shower. I know it is high season on the keys and I have no trouble paying premium during this period, but the basic amenities should all be in perfect order. Unfortunately the front desk employee told us the manager would not come in for another 1 and a half hour, so we left and I send her a mail. After two and a half day I received a be mail from Tracy, telling me nothing was wrong with the shower and she wouldn’t offer any discount 🤷🏻‍♂️.

The room was very clean, breakfast was good and staff was courteous. We had dinner at the restaurant and everything was good. We ordered several drinks, one of them was the Painful Boobie and it was a hit. We ordered burgers, tres ceviches, coconut shrimp, and for dessert crème brûlée. Everything was delicious. Sierra, our server treated us really good.. Also, the ambiance was great.

The first and last stop of Florida keys ! Great resort , everything is clean, comfortable and tastefully done. We express our gratitude to the hotel staff, I would like to note that everyone is very friendly and polite, therefore creating an atmosphere of good rest and good mood! Resort has three tiki bars with a huge range of food and drinks for every taste also it’s a huge beach area and every weekends famous bands and musicians come to the resort, they also hold events and shows!!! The room was super clean and had access to a terrace overlooking the ocean !The resort also has a huge parking lot for hotel guests and a separate parking lot for tiki bars and the beach guests. It’s 24 hours security there ! We had a very good time enjoying very tasty food good music and beautiful views at Gilbert’s Resort !!!! Many thanks to the staff of the resort this is a five star service hope I will come back again at Gilbert’s Resort !

We had a great time in this resort, rooms are super clean, recently renovated and nice staff. The Tikki bar is the to place sit next to the water, enjoy wonderful life music, cocktails and yummy food at a reasonable price. The Tuna nachos are highly recommended! It has a small and nice sand beach for refreshing or sunbathing.

Loved the place. Food wasn’t the best on the first night. I had a Philly.. it tasted sour. But the bartenders Shelby and her partner can’t recall his name.. but they were amazing! Room was good and a boat ramp so close was perfect. Definitely will go back.

If someone had told us, or their website mentioned it, that they let the resort open to the general public on the weekends, we would NOT have booked the place! Thursday and Friday was peace and quiet. Very relaxing. Come the weekend, the place was so polluted with loud, obnoxious people and music coming in from the driveway and waterway, they took up every single seat in the restaurant area, bars, beach and even the pool - which was only supposed to be used by the PAYING customers! Of our 4 day stay, two of them we had to leave to find food and drinks because there wasn't a seat available, and on the way back into the resort, we had to sit in traffic going in just to get to our room. On a positive note, the service and food at the tiki bar was very good. The rooms are modern and beds are comfortable. But if you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is NOT the place!

The room was nice and the breakfast was good but that was it. The dinner restaurant was open air with a ceiling but it was too hot to sit there. For the 2 nights we stayed there the noise was unacceptable. First, their house band located a longish distance from my room was Very loud. Once the band finished, the music from the boats or the neighbors in the hotel that sat outside their rooms on hotel provided chairs was incredibly loud and went on until 1 o r2 in the morning. So loud that I am sure everyone in the area was awake. This happened both nights. I would never stay there again.

Not sure why I didn't see any reviews about the crowds and noise on the weekend. On the weekend, the resort lets locals use the resort for free. So, paying customers can't use the beach or amenities. We couldn't get a seat for dinner and had to leave the resort. When we returned there were no parking spots. Unacceptable treatment of PAYING customers. Terrible experience.
