I was a bit surprised that the rather high price/night did not include a large bar of soap and toiletries, and that the air conditioning was one of those very noisy ones. But we were in the Keys, and we did have a screen-enclosed balcony, and there was a common terrace overlooking the marina, and the views were impressive, and there is not much else available. We went to the attached open-air restaurant for dinner – the only enclosed restaurant seemed to be the breakfast room. I had what was advertised as the Florida Keys traditional fish sandwich – toasted sliced bread, tomato, American Cheese, and a very large piece of Mahi-Mahi, grilled (although there was a choice of other cooking options). I had it with a large pile of fries – and it was really quite good. There was music – a guy with a beaten-down cowboy hat playing oldies on a guitar – a good Keys experience. The next morning breakfast (included) was not too bad – scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, cereals etc.

Stayed 1 night. Convenient location, easy to find. Stayed in a room on the upper level. Good view of the waterway. Clean and spacious. Cocktails nice watching the sunset on the beach. Live music was welcome.

Don’t expect the resort to return any phone calls or emails. Upon trying to check in one of the two rooms was not ready at 4:00, the desk clerk said she would call to let us know when we could check in. We never received the call and after two hours we returned to get checked in. We were guest of the hotel and asked if we could have a group of tables in the Tikki Bar area, once again the front desk clerk said she would call to arrange and she never did. The servers in the bar area were very rude and not helpful. Finally we found ONE server that was willing to help us. We have been trying for days now to reach a real person at the hotel as we believe we left a credit card. Rooms, food and drinks were clean and adequate but service was terrible. If you expect good customer service this is not your place!

We booked a 2-night stay at Gilbert's with high expectations based on previous reviews here for our first trip to Key Largo but were sadly disappointed and will not return in future. The first evening we chose to have dinner at their Tiki Bar restaurant which was a huge mistake. They were out of beer and several food items already at 6PM and thoroughly disorganized. We ordered conch fritters which were cold and undercooked. They did replace but it didn't make much difference. We were very disappointed with the seafood dishes we ordered. The waitress was apologetic but nothing changed. Before we started to eat, I got a call from the front desk asking me to move my car as they were re-asphalting the entire parking lot. I could not believe that they chose to do it on one of the busiest days they had (2nd January) and right in the middle of dinner! No apologies or options. Final straw was that we had no hot water in the room in the morning before we checked out. The front office was locked at 8:30AM and later when it was unlocked, there was no one there. I had to hunt down a maintenance worker myself and report the problem. It then took another hour to finally get hot water and it delayed our intended departure for Key West. Overall, my family and I were very disappointed with poor service and the experience. Will not return in future.

The room was super clean and updated. Modern style bathroom, lots of storage in the room for an extended stay. Comfy bed and awesome blackout curtains that opened to a beautiful view of the ocean right in my front yard. The restaurant and awesome service was really just the cherry on top. Can't wait to go back !

Spent 2 nights here in October Rooms were clean, comfortable & a good size. Had the pool to our self which was lovely & warm. We had a room on the 1st floor facing the dock, didn’t encounter any road noise from the bridge overhead. Ate at the restaurant once, food was excellent, the Gilbert’s burger I had was the best I had on our USA trip! The sunsets were absolutely stunning both night we were there. The breakfast in the morning was at a good standard, kids enjoyed using the waffle machines & the lady was very nice helping out with this! Pretty sure cutlery, cups was single use plastic, which we found shocking everywhere we stayed in America, can’t believe how far behind Europe on environmental issues. I read you may now have switched to biodegradable which is great to hear and every hotel should be doing this! Next time we are in the Keys, we will stay here.

Stayed for 2 nights , when we arrived it was just before 9pm so we where unable yo get any drink or food as the Tiki bar closes then . When we went into our apartment because of the darkness we trood into feces and walked it around the apartment, went to see if we could get it cleaned but no one turned up so you can imagine the place stank . It was cleaned up next morning when we went to reception again . We ate at the Tiki bar the next night food was ok but we did get bitten a lot so take repellent with you. I found the road noise quite disturbing but I'm not used to traffic. Apartment had lovely views and was nice to sit outside ( we were on the 1st floor ) We used the pool with was a good temperature and clean
