We really found this property to be a throwback to old Florida accommodations which is what we prefer compared to the cookie cutter Marriott Hotel experience. The property is well maintained with beautiful docks, a clean beach and a scattering of chairs to view the sunset. We had a cottage with two queens and a separate kitchenette with a big fridge with a freezer and full size oven. A nice area under a thatched room was loaded with plenty is seating for dining, cards or hanging out. Bathrooms were a bit dated but clean nevertheless.

The $225 before tax and charges was reasonable for the area on a Saturday night. Nothing exotic but very pleasant. What we liked was the access to the docks, a screened in porch and some room to rome.
The room itself included a kitchen, neighboring bath, with a bedroom in a separate room facing the lake. If there was a third, the sofa pulled out into a bed. On Sunday morning we took a double kayak out for a ride around the lake and loved it.
The Pelican is within range of anything in Key Largo, and on the way to the bridge to Islamarada. We may come back as a party of eight, and we’d love to reserve a couple rooms near each other here if we do.

I rented the cheapest room available and was surprised by the spartan setup: Tiny room with no closet or dresser (just hooks on the wall), no phone or clock, no desk or table other than the two nightstands, small tv, noisy but effective window a/c, no room in the bathroom for even modest toiletries. I didn't care for the tile flooring that gets slippery with wet feet, but that seems to be common in FL. The bed was a little soft for my taste. The small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker are nice amenities. I arrived late at night and the management left my keys in the mailbox out front.:), and checking in and out were pleasant and friendly experiences. The parking surface is unpaved and spaces are not delineated, so I just parked however worked for me. I really enjoyed direct access to the bayside shore which was very peaceful.

This place was an extremely nice surprise just coming from the hustle and bustle of Key West . The location had a beautiful view of Florida Bay. It had a few piers with chairs at the end of them to watch the beautiful sunsets. The bay was calm and the atmosphere was like being on a quiet lake. Everyone was friendly, both guests and staff. You could check out canoes or paddle boards at the front desk for a couple of hours at no charge The rooms were comfortable and had all of the amenities that you needed. You just have to leave a form of id and sign your life away...lol. You must go to Snooks on the Bay, just a few doors down. The best seafood we have ever eaten. The key lime pie martinis are amazing. Mrs. Macs for breakfast is right next door. They have breakfast specials that come with a free mimosa. If we ever go back to the Florida Keys I will definitely be back to the Pelican Cottages.

We were in Key Largo for just one night, and I am so glad we booked this place for the night! We stayed in the Dolphin suite which had 2 beds and a little mini kitchen. There was a little sandy area out back with a hammock, and they said we could use their kayaks, which we did not, but nice to know if we would have wanted to kayak! The dock out back had chairs on it so you could sit and look over the water and watch the birds and boats, or you could fish if you wanted. We hoped to spot a dolphin but no luck on that. The cabin was within walking distance to a couple of waterfront dining places where you could go for a drink and dinner. The cabin also had a screened in porch, which was nice to sit on the porch on the morning we checked out because it was raining pretty hard. The room was clean and comfortable, and we wished we had more time to stay longer. The woman working the front desk was very kind and helpful. It’s a great little place to stay if you’re looking to be right on the water at Key Largo.

The beach area is a wonderful highlight! Complimentary kayaks a plus. The staff were friendly and responsive. Roach crawled over me under the covers at 3 am. Ceiling fan is broken, they brought us a box fan that we set on a dirty stained chair. Males have to hold the toilet seat up during the entire process. To flush you must stand there and hold the handle down. The window air conditioner has been noted in many other reviews, extremely loud. The price was attractive but next time I'll pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

My family and I traveled here for a mini vacation while I worked in Key Largo. The rooms were absolutely terrible. Looked like nothing had been repaired or taken care of for years. Broken tiles in the bathroom cut my husbands arm. The towel racks were made from pvc pipes. The humidity in the room was so bad that there was water dripping down the walls and the floors stayed slippery and wet. My kids couldn't take their shoes off because the floors were slippery. My medicines in my travel bag actually congealed together from the extreme humidity inside the room. The door didn't fully close and you could hear everything outside- including the drunken neighbors throwing up on the steps...Not worth the price tag. If you want to enjoy the beach find a location that actually has a suitable room. We left early and drove home late at night because we couldn't stand to stay in that room any longer.

We are very sorry to hear that we missed the mark regarding your stay. We take a great deal of pride in offering clean, quality lodging at some of the best prices anywhere in the Keys. The issues that you have described with the bathroom is certainly below our standard and we will forward that to our team for correction. We did note that the door to your unit remained open for a good portion of your stay. The cold air inside of the unit when mixed with the ward humid air from outside can sometimes cause condensation to form on hard surfaces.

We loved our stay here. Expedia booked us into a suite with kitchenette right on the beach, which is not what we actually booked, but we did enjoy it in spite of the extra cost. The staff was friendly, the view beautiful and calming, and we could use the kayaks for free.

I want to thank the staff at The Pelican Key Largo Cottages, they worked hard to make sure we had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the site has a small but nice beach area to play in the water, comfortable chairs on all three of their docks and plenty of spaces for grilling out with shade areas and seating. The sunsets are really beautiful from their beach area. We chose this location due to the great price and it was well worth it. You might want to consider one of the larger units for families but this was perfect for myself and my husband as we were on the go constantly. Pelican Key Largo is going to be our permanent go to location for all our future trips to the Keys.

We had a great time at the Pelican cottages! The room was very clean and staff was very friendly. They had three docks with adirondack chairs to sit and relax in. They also had a small beach with chairs and kayaks. Unfortunately it was too windy to take the kayaks out during our stay. The location is excellent and very walkable with a great diner next door that serves lunch and breakfast. I think it was called Mack’s. There’s also a Italian Restaurant and a Beach side bar grille within a 5 min walk. We really enjoyed the small outdoor table set that each cottage has. We were able to pick up food to go and sit outside and eat. There’s lattice between the cottages and palm trees and plants so you feel like you have privacy. I would definitely stay again. Great central location in Key Largo.
