We loved Bay Harbor Lodge. Our room was the small queen bedroom - just a bedroom and bathroom. Our delight was the tropical setting, the calm bayside setting, and Peg's Scones. The property is so cozy, quiet with small cottages. We would start our morning with coffee, Peg's scones and conversation with Peg or other guests. Mid-day was a dip in the pool or reading by the pool. Afternoon was a kayak ride on the bay, watch the manatees and fisherman, then enjoy a glass of wine bayside while watching the sun set. I recommend this location for couples who prefer something relaxed rather than a hotel.
We booked a last minute overnight stay at the Bay harbor Lodge and couldn't be happier. We stayed in room 14 a junior suite that was spacious, fresh, clean and very, very comfortable. The grounds were perfect with lots of quiet sitting areas, a great clean pool and the oceanfront where we could sit and watch the iguanas and the beautiful ocean or kayak out into the bay. Peg and all her staff were so very welcoming and the morning scones delicious! Highly recommend.
Wonderful little resort with beautiful tropical landscaping, extremely clean grounds and rooms. Pool, beach, kayaks, scones and plenty of places to sit around and relax. Very attentive staff. Very happy to have discovered and will return again in the future.
I want to start with positives The property is beautiful We loved the location of our cottage and the lovely view from our Tiki hut. The sunset views were beautiful. Morning scones were delicious We were not able to get Hot Chocolate despite it is being listed on the menu for the three days we were there Disappointing in that my husband does not drink tea or coffee. The pool was warm but our first day there was iguana poop all over a lounger and on the pool deck There was none on subsequent days. We had a new stove that when used set off an alarm despite there being no smoke. On our last morning the same thing happened with the toaster for no reason There was also some confusion about having the room clean and garbage taken out which was readily taken care of the first night but not the second I had not planned to post but had asked to speak with Peg and was told she was busy but would call me. Since that never occurred I decided to share a review. This is a great property but at this price point there were some glitches…
Older but very updated lodging. Clean and modernized rooms. Amazing tropical setting with a wide variety of plants. Terrific scones for breakfast (best ever). Lodge is on the water and free use of kayaks. John Pennycamp State Park just 5 miles away which offers a variety of water activities. Many other recreational opportunities close by and good resturants. Very friendly staff.
My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing winter escape at Bay Harbor Lodge. Our little bungalow was clean and cozy, with a well-equipped kitchen for cooking meals as needed. Homemade scones and fresh coffee were a wonderful treat each morning. The owner, Peg, and her son, Jonathan, were attentive hosts, always available if needed. We especially enjoyed the beautiful garden setting and the on-site kayaks for Florida Bay paddling. The sunsets were epic! We can't wait to go back to Bay Harbor, a little slice of heaven. :)
We had an issue with an uncomfortable bed. The next morning we told Jonathan (Manager) and we had a mattress swap before noon. Wonderful new mattress!!! We needed a broom to sweep off our outdoor space. I went to the office and was handed a broom 😃. Needed a grill scraper. I was told someone would be there shortly to take care of it. Done! This is our 2nd visit to this property. I’m so glad we came back!! Low key, clean, quiet, extremely well cared for. We will be back many many more times.
The grounds are clean and very nicely maintained. We stayed in #6, the Hibiscus suite. Very clean, nicely updated, kitchen is equipped, newer furniture, outdoor dining, and mini-split air conditioning! The quiet A/C is one reason we chose to stay here. We were welcomed by one of the owners who kindly stayed late to greet us. The complimentary scones are delicious! We had fun on the kayaks and the sunset view is fantastic. Pool was set to 85degrees. We would definietly stay here again! The owners take great care of their resort and make sure that you feel welcome.
We stayed at the Bay Harbour for a few nights and what a treat. Beautiful and peaceful water views. Warm, fresly baked free scones and coffee/tea every morning. Owners on property were very welcoming and friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and updated. Some rooms have sitting areas, others dont. Most bungalows had a porch with grill outside the bungalow. It was very nice to be able to watch the beautiful sunsets right on the property. Close to great restaurants as there is no food, drinks or ice on property. Free kayaking in shallow water. Beach area is small but very clean and relaxing. Cute, seating areas around the property and on the beach. Bring insect repellant for sitting outside in some areas. Will definitely come back!!
Wonderful stay, beautiful view, lovely accommodations. Peg and Jonathan make you feel like family and her scones are to die for. Landscaping is lush, lots to do or you can just hang out and chill right on the bay. Good restaurants nearby and a short jaunt to other spots in the Keys. Sunsets are spectacular.
