Positives are great location and very very nice staff. Negatives are very very out dated. Bathroom was the worst I have ever stayed in. I've stayed in cheaper hotels in the area and the bathroom was better. Cleaner does the best they can. The kitchen like the bathroom outdated but very clean. The shutters in the kitchen and bathroom are outside so can be opened by anyone.

I stayed at Marina del Mar for three nights in January 2023. This is a very old hotel and the best thing about it is the location on the waterfront. Complimentary breakfast with hot and cold food, juice and coffee (I really like being able to select the light roast because regular roast gives me migraines). Being able to enjoy breakfast on the verandah of the lobby facing the waterway is also a wonderful experience and I enjoyed feeding the mourning doves that begged at the table. Their sweet coos could be heard all the time and it was a very lovely sound.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable and they provide you with a lot of lovely towels. There’s a mini refrigerator and a Keurig coffee maker in the room.
The wifi was almost non-existent. It took ages to log in and often did not allow you to get to the log in page. And the few times I was able to log in, it was terribly slow and would knock me out.
Housekeeping was also almost non existent. The first day it was not done and at 3 pm the next day, I asked the front desk if it was only done on demand. She said no and she could get them to do it but it was almost time for them to go home. So I said it’s okay. No worries. When I got to my room, the housekeeping lady was standing in front of my door with her cart. She was slowly eating something from a cup and giving me a look. Two guys hung out around her. I felt uncomfortable.
The blinds don’t cover the windows well and people can look into your room from the sides. So I felt a bit uneasy when I was changing.
There is also no soundproofing at all. At night my next door neighbors talked, laughed and screamed at the top of their voices and they dragged the chair noisily until 12:30 AM. This happened again the second night.

We loved the hotel. The location was right on the harbor with boats, manatees, pelicans and sharks. Nice staff, comfortable beds and clean. The blinds did not darken the room enough and it was quite noisy from outside. There were good restaurants nearby.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite overlooking the canal. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a king size bed and a kitchenette, perfect for a week. The views from our room were wonderful and it was so much fun watching the fishing and diving boats coming and going. At breakfast (a continental breakfast is included) we sat at a canal side table and enjoyed the views of the pelicans and even saw manatees. The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance of restaurants and a small shopping center. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and A special shout out has to go to the front desk manager, Laura Gibson, who made sure our visit to this hotel was perfect.

We stayed for 5 nights at the beginning of February and although a little underwhelmed when we first checked in (after a journey of about 18 hours from our home in the UK), we soon realised we had found a lovely place. The Miami airport rush hour traffic was no fun, having picked up our hire car at 4:30pm (I think it's probably always busy around there). Our check in at 6:30pm was a bit less than helpful plus the room was in need of some updating. However, there was lots of hot water and an excellent shower (plus bath tub) and only a 1 minute walk to Skippers Dockside for dinner at the end of our day. The next morning our opinion was much better after a good nights sleep in the very comfortable beds when we had a chance to enjoy the complimentary breakfast (which had plenty of choice and as much food as you could eat) and explore the resort and room more thoroughly. Miguel on the front desk was extremely welcoming and he, along with the rest of the staff made us feel very welcome guests. Marina Del Mar is in an excellent Key Largo location with plenty of restaurants and shops within an easy walk if you don't want to drive for a day. We'd stay again without hesitation.

Clean but very old room, noisy air conditioning and no blackout curtains on the windows. At 5am the sun enters the room and it is difficult to sleep. Old and tiny bathroom. Poor quality breakfast made up of only a few pre-packaged foods. The location is excellent, the marina is very beautiful. The photos on the various sites do not correspond to reality. You can see that they are renovating some rooms but we ended up with an old one which is certainly not worth the price paid

ROOM On a scale of 1-10 I would rate an 8, the room we had was spacious but needed some TLC, the TVS are quite small for the large rooms, the TV wire cover was hanging off the wall, the cupboards are a bit outdated, the dishwasher has loose panels, the bathrooms seemed a bit outdated. Could use a bit more cooking untinsells. Sliding doors need some cleaning and would be great to have screens.
LOCATION Rating 7 out of 10, Our room faced the marina, and although it was pleasant to wake up to it had some minor draw backs. The restaurant "Skippers" is in close proximity and there is allot of foot traffic and music, not a show stopper but just so your aware. Also there are no elevators in the resort and very limited parking. So at most you n may have to climb 4 flights of stairs and may have to park about a 3 minute walk from your building.
POOL Rating 6 out of 10, No food or drinks aloud although we seen other guests doing the opposite, the pool is generally used in the morning for scuba training, but is spacious.
Overall I rate this a 7 out of 10 The resort restaurants are seriously over priced, without drinks expect and average of $108 per couple for basic food (Not 5 star food), and limited amenities. For those of you with boats it may be a great spot. Îf your looking for beach activities, not so much

We arrived early for a one night stay. The front desk was very professional and told us we could use the pool and provided us with towels. They made great restaurant suggestions close by. The grounds and marina were lovely. Plenty to sit and watch, as well as the restaurants, Sharkeys and skippers. We were able to check in around 3 PM. My husband dropped our luggage off in the room and came back to the pool and went to Sharkeys for dinner and didn’t really spend any time in the room. That evening the room seemed dingy but we went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning I realized how dilapidated and poor the room was. I’ve never stayed in a hotel room that was this rundown. We generally like to save money for our trips and especially enjoy our rooms. Our one night stay was $378.00 I would love to return but it would not be until they renovate these rooms.

Myself and two friends towed a boat to Key Largo and wanted to book a slip at the Marriott. When we called the Marriott and asked for the marina/dock master, they connected us to the Marina del Mar marina without us knowing and we booked a slip there. When we booked the hotel, we booked where the slip was without looking up any reviews. We booked a 2 bedroom suite (three guys on the trip). I booked the suite with one king and two twin beds. When we arrived the hotel was very slow (they said lots of people cancelled due to bad weather.) They still would not let us to our room until 4 pm which is what they said when we booked so no big deal. The place was terrible. The suite had two king beds so we took turns sleeping on the pull out sofabed which was horrible. You could feel every spring in the mattress. The other beds were comfortable. We were right above lobby but no wifi in room, wifi worked in lobby. They said there is nothing they can do. Door was so loud when we came in/out we had to ask three times to get it oiled before it was done. The door would not fully close unless you slammed it shut so one day we came back from being gone all day the the door wasn't closed. It stayed shut but you could clearly see that it was open/unlocked. Luckily, we weren't broken into. $640/night and the tv on the wall was crooked and loose, the wires were hanging down, the bathrooms were very dates with lots of paint stains etc. The sink would not shut off unless you figured out how to do it perfectly. They came each day and made the beds but didn't wipe down the coffee stains on the kitchen counter. I finally did it after waiting and watching for three days to see if they would. The morning of our last day there was a really big cockroach in the bathroom we killed (and took a pic.) We met some folks also from NH at the restaurant who were just checking out different spots and hotels. We brought them up to see the suite, they couldn't believe how water damaged and crooked the cabinets were etc. The dock master was very very good and accommodating. We had to cancel one night of the slip due to boat issues and he was very good about it. Also, No elevators Breakfast sucked, Light switches didn’t work, Slip prices almost double most places. My impression: They are just letting it go and maybe will tear it down and rebuild but it does not seem like they are at all interested in keep it up and updating it.

If you need the internet, this place isn’t for you. The only place at the hotel where we could get online was at reception. We complained the first day and were told they would have someone “reset the router.” Still no better on day 2 so we complained again. We were given a number to call, which we did, but the company wanted information about our devices which seemed really sketchy. We had to use hot spots.
Our suite was very outdated. The bed was comfortable and living area was spacious with a fridge and microwave. The fixtures were all old. The rooms were clean. The windows had no curtains so we had to keep the metal louvers closed all the time for privacy. This made the bedroom feel like a cave even at midday.
The breakfast wasn’t great. The coffee was excellent but the cold cereal selection was limited and the packaged muffins not very appealing. We did not care for the sausage croissants. We went to Sharkey’s for an excellent breakfast.
The best thing about Marina Del Mar was the pool. It wasn’t heated, but it was large.
The front desk staff were friendly and nice, except they didn’t or couldn’t fix the internet.

We do no as we're located on a marina. However there is a beach nearby at the John Pennekamp State Marine Park. In the marina here we do have boats which offer snorkel, dive & fishing. Also a Glass-Bottom boat to go out the coral reef!
There are more places to choose from in the Key Largo area.
