Really nice place, they take good care of you. Carlos at the bar is the best. The pool and beach are so nice and relaxing. The music is really nice too. Had the beachfront room with a great view! Concierge text me right away to see if I needed anything. Fabulous!

My husband & I wanted to get away from the NE cold weather for my birthday/ Babymoon/ Spring break, so after some time researching locations in Key Largo ( so our drive wouldn’t be long from Miami), we found that this was our best option for what we were looking for. We wanted the following:
A view of the bay & a king size bed✅
A higher floor & easy access parking for our rental✅
Quiet area for us to get good sleep✅
Easy access to the beach & pool with food & drinks✅
Water sport options or other things to get into within a very short drive✅

The check in process was quick & easy, the staff was helpful & friendly, we found our room, gave ourselves a night tour of the property so we could scout spots we wanted the following morning.

The quality of the room is fine, I knew coming into this that upgrades of their designs & some products inside the room could use a refresh as some handles were bent, and our main hotel room door had to be slammed shut in order to actually lock behind us. Some upkeep of the rooms & property overall would be welcomed & helpful since you do pay a lot for this location to begin with. We justified it since we really won’t have another get away like this for a long time, so we rolled with some of the punches. If you have high expectations, there are other resorts in the area that are nicer but cost even more than this one. So unless money isn’t a problem, this may be the best option. Not sure what their standard rooms are like, but heard mixed reviews from others. We didn’t want to waste our money or time with the cheaper options intentionally so we wouldn’t have to worry.

Our room overall is perfectly fine. It has a great view from the bed, the doors open on both sides so you get lots of fresh air & a cute balcony with two chairs & a table.

This is a very kid friendly location, it seems to be mainly young teens, kids & a few babies. Not a lot of couples. So if you’re looking for a “kid free” location, this isn’t for you, keep looking.

Again, can’t complain about the experience or staff, everyone has been super helpful, friendly, kind & available. We also knew that room cleaning wouldn’t be regular due to Covid & staffing issues all over the USA, but we’re pleasantly surprised when our room was made up after spending our days outside on the beach & by the pool.

One HUGE complaint I do have is allowing guests to bring their own music to the pool area. I thought this was not allowed but seems that nobody is enforcing it or telling them they can’t. It’s a handful of people, but when you’re already paying in the $1k to stay here, it should certainly be enforced. Nobody needs to hear anything outside of what the resort speakers are playing.

The food & drinks on property is great & we have had zero complaints in that department either.

After our cruise, we hired a car and drove down to Key Largo, which was approx halfway between Miami and Key West. On check in, our room wasn’t ready and we waited a couple of hours before being show to a room with one bed. We specifically ask for two beds on holiday, and after explaining this to reception, we were moved into a different, suitable room.
It was clean & tidy, with new-looking upholstery etc, but quite soulless.
The bathroom contained loo, bath with shower curtain & overhead shower. The basin and vanity unit was in the bedroom (strange), so after using the loo, we had to go back into the bedroom to wash our hands 😫
There was plenty of toiletries and decent towels.
Tea/coffee making facilities were available, with extra teabags in reception. A nice touch was individually wrapped ‘choc chip cookies’, we assumed from a local bakery, available free. ( scrummy)
Our room did not have a view, as it faced the road, and led off a general walkway.
The pool area and beach were pretty, with a few nice sun beds.
We couldn’t use the water to swim, as it was full of yucky weed......not the fault of the hotel, I know, but just didn’t give us the glimpse of ‘ Paradise ‘ which we imagined.
Dining room/bar were in separate buildings......decent enough, but the noise in the bar on our first evening was mega, and prevented us visiting again.
Car park Is $15 per night.
If you’re eating in the d.room or bar, make sure you check your bill carefully! No more needs to be said here 😉

I agree with some of the previous reviews...this property was a complete disappointment. I am a Marriott rewards member and have been for some time because I can usually count on Marriott for quality and consistency. That was not the case with my room. First, my room did not look like any of the photos on the website. My best guess is that perhaps it has yet to be remodeled. There were several gnats in the room. The bathroom does not have an actual tub, and like the previous reviewer indicated, there was nasty grout in the crevices. Next, when I walked into the room, it smelled like mold. I have relatively severe allergies and literally sneezed the entire stay. Prior to booking, I requested foam pillows for this reason. I did not get them upon check in. I complained several times to Debbie, and did not get foam pillows until my last night there. The bed was old and very uncomfortable. Also, my room was across from the Pirate’s Cove Watersports rental facility and every time a boat pulled in, it reeked of exhaust so that I could not sit on the balcony. The arm of my rocking chair was broken so you couldn’t really rest comfortably any way. The other chair on my balcony did not rock. Next, the Do Not Disturb signs are paper and with the breeze, it would always blow off and end up in the hallway. The food options were not good. Breezers tiki bar charged me $19.00 for a crappy Cobb salad. And, I would not call this a “beach resort.” This hotel is on the bay side and the water is very murky and not pretty. While it indicates bay in the title, I was under the impression that the water would be nice. It was not. Lastly, upon check out, I was given someone else’s bill...at which point I discovered that the individual was charged significantly less for the same room I had booked, more than $100 less per night. If I am a rewards member, I should be getting the best rate possible. Anyway, I would NOT recommend this property at all. This is the first time in many years that I have been disappointed with a Marriott property. Needs an overhaul STAT,

We have very recently updated the rooms and have not had the opportunity to update the photos on the web site. I am hoping you would be able to share the room number you stayed in so I may personally inspect the room for the issues you mentioned. I am a very loyal Marriott guy with over 1800 nights on the books and this was by far the most disappointing upscale Marriott experience that I have had. The rooms are in serious need of an upgrade and the outside painting is peeling everywhere. And then there are the on-site restaurants. The breakfast buffet is really good, but more clarity is needed relative to what the buffet charges are upon checkin. We were told that breakfast was included due to my TITANIUM status, (this is the norm wherever we travel) and come to find out two breakfasts ($23 each) are included and the kids were not. We found out when we checked out.

Secondly, the sports bar (Breezers) on the property has their food prepared in a nearby kitchen so everything that we ordered was cold. They had only 2 staff on duty and the crowd was simply too large to get good service so that entire experience was not a good one. Additionally, we sent two of our dinners back and we got charged for them anyway. We were unable to summon anyone to discuss this due to how busy they were. Upon going to the front desk the next morning and explaining it, they simply told me that someone would get back to me, so I assume that no General manager was on duty.

On a good note, the New Years Eve fireworks at the hotel display was fabulous. Also, the Dive Shop personnel were really accommodating with the captain of the dive boat (Brian Gundaker) and his crew being really great.

Overall, this was not a good experience, look elsewhere is my recommendation, this place has obvious management and capital resource issues.

This was a nice looking property generally speaking facing west so you can watch the sunsets. There was a pool, food and drinks service and the beach to enjoy. However, we paid $1250 per night for a suite that had two bedrooms and only one bathroom and a kitchen and living room with a pull out couch. The attention to detail was disappointing… When you spend that much you hope to at least get some water included. The front door looks like a door of the janitor’s closet. There should’ve been a follow up call from the front desk to make sure we had the appropriate number of towels and face cloths, etc. It was OK but I felt like it was worth half what we paid for. There are several good restaurants that are within walking distance and overall we had a good time and would recommend a place… Perhaps just a single room next room.

We spent the week leading up to New Year at this resort. Overall it was a large, clean and updated property, but there is definitely some areas of improvement. We knew that travel in South FL during this time presents some challenges and I am sure that played a factor in the hotels execution on events and staffing. I was pleased to see the hotel and staff were stringent with the mask and social distancing policies, but not all of the guests were compliant. I know the hotel doesn't want to upset guests especially after charging an unnecessarily expensive rate, but there were days where it was shoulder to shoulder in the hot tub, which is tight quarters to begin with.

Pros: Beach and pool access. The sunsets are stunning and you can walk from pool to beach depending on what kind of environment you are looking for. Its located within walking and driving distance to many popular restaurants and excursions. We took our boat and were able top ramp and dock right there. There were restaurants close by with docks that you can take your boat right up to. It also allowed us to get out of the bay area and out into turquois waters.

Cons: The food was a big disappointment. The resort advertises 3 restaurants, which technically is true but they all share a kitchen and menu. There is no difference in food options/prices between the pool bar, Gus' restaurant and Breezes bar, which is really disappointing because of the lack of options. The food quality for what we paid was not worth it. After a day or so once we determined things were as they were with food, we ended up going out for meals as well as going to the local Publix for snacks. The cost is a little questionable. I know it was high because of New Years but the hotel didn't have any kind of activity planned for the evening so I am not sure why there was a surge in pricing. At one point, they were charging $800 per night. I could understand if there was a fireworks show or some kind of social distanced activity but there was nothing planned. The Breezes Bar also closes at 9pm, which is also disappointing. We usually eat dinner later on vacation and then have drinks, but 9pm is a little early to close up. They stayed open until 10pm on NYE, but even that is so early. So we ended up taking our boat to another resort and watched their fireworks.

Overall - the room and resort was clean and updated mostly. The staff is kind and friendly, The food was a major disappointment and the lack of organized activities was a little disappointing as well, but that could be Covid related. We were able to stay here as a result of points accumulation, but what they were asking for nightly rates was astronomical for what little they offered. Would I go back? If I am cashing in travel points and dont have to pay then yes, otherwise no.

First, our family has stayed at this property several times. The location is excellent. Nice beach and water activities. We enjoyed the sunset from the large tiki overlooking the bay. The staff handling the kayak rentals is helpful and friendly. My spouse thoroughly enjoyed the spa and massage. However, these are outside vendors. Our server at the pool and Gus’ were friendly.

Ok. Here’s the bad part. The property is in disrepair. It does not appear there has been any major updates since our last visit in 2016. Our room had a hole in the wall. The paint on the bathroom door is peeling.

Understanding that COVID has caused substantial staff shortages, for the price we paid off season, we were disappointed in the overall upkeep especially in the pool area. General maintenance and cleanliness were lacking. A used diaper was left on a lounge chair and had to be removed by my spouse. Plastic cups were lying around the pool deck. Used towels were lying on chairs. Dirty food dishes were left near the bar overnight. Housekeeping came after 4 on one day and not until we left for dinner on the second day to service our room. The exercise room was fine.

As a Bonvoy member, our family always strives to stay at Marriott properties. This experience has unfortunately made us rethink whether we will continue to do so.

My review two years ago mentioned a tired interior. Our room in February was completely renovated and beautiful. The room was a suite which was completely furnished - couches, dining table, bar with stools, nicely appointed kitchen with appliances and all eating utensils. Obviously we love the location and amenities or we would not return and stay for a week. We had a hiccup getting daily ‘tidy up’ (towels/waste baskets fill quickly for five people) which once remedied went well. Actually, our room attendant, Miss Nery, did a FABULOUS job keeping our room tidy. The view is obviously spectacular from the balcony. We drank poolside and the drinks were very good - for several days they came to the chairs and took order but then new servers only stayed at the bar and we had to get our own drinks. The dining room food was fabulous - wonderful fish and breakfast. We will return ASAP.

We booked this hotel after calling Marriott Reservations twice and the front desk at the hotel once. We were specifically looking to book a hotel that had a spa with a steam room, sauna and whirlpool. We were told that these facilities were available at this property. I called the front desk two days before checking to see if there was any additional fees to use the spa facilities which included a whirl pool, sauna and steam room. They told me there were no fees and we were welcome to use them. Upon checking, the front desk agent, Debbie told us The hotel had no spa facilities. She informed us they just offered massages and facials but it was not a full spa. I tried calling playa Largo but of course they were fully booked. We were stuck in a hotel where it was too windy and cold to use the pool and no spa facilities were available. I book this property in hopes my mom and I would have a mother and daughter spa weekend. I came to find out that Debbie was the manager on duty. Debi would come to the front desk and was chewing food while trying to talk to me. I asked her if she could refund the points I used for the reservation. She said she could only refund 10,000 points. This seemed hardly appropriate for such a major inconvenience. Upon checking into our room we discovered that the toilet was cracked, there was mold in the grout of the shower, the grout throughout the unit was dirty, chips in the tile floor, the coffee maker did not work, nor did the TV in the second bedroom. The bathrooms by the pool we’re extremely unsanitary and dirty as well. We went out to dinner and returned to the hotel, our keys did not work and we had to return to the front desk to get keys that properly worked. We woke up and immediately checked out of the room at 8:30 AM. We could not wait to leave the property.
