We booked via Booking.com and had a booking reference which was confirmed. When we arrived the hotel had no knowledge of our booking. The lady receptionist said this happens all the time and it’s our own fault for not booking directly with the hotel. I told her that if this happens all the time then the hotel should sort it out with Booking.com. She was not very sympathetic and a bit arrogant. It took 40 minutes for her to find another room for us and made me feel very uncomfortable and unwanted. As compensation she gave us a voucher for 2 cocktails. This woman must have had the day off when the hotel ran their customer care course.
We stayed here for our honeymoon a couple of months ago. We loved it here! The staff was wonderful wherever we went! We ate delicious food at their restaurant Gus' Grille a few times for both breakfasts and dinners. Our room was an ocean view balcony and it had a beautiful view, We took a sunset cruise booked in their dive shop and it was amazing. They have so many amenities and it was very clean. We can't wait to return!
Such a fun hotel- our view was gorgeous. The restaurants were delicious… there was so much to do on the property… they have a Nespresso machine in the room- which is my love language. Beds were comfy- air-conditioning was on point. Would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I stayed at this property for 3 nights from May 27-30 , for the first time. We love Key Largo so we stayed there several times in different hotels. The Reefhouse is clean, we liked our room (#204), and the common areas, we compared the Reefhouse to Baker's Cay and Playa Largo resorts , and the service, prices at the bar and the food is better at the Reefhouse ... ... BUT... on Saturday & Sunday a lot of "guests" from outside the property invaded the hotel, especially the pool and the beach. They were noisy, with lots of food from outside and loud music. We found out they were not staying at the hotel because they said it loudly and kept calling more friends and family to come over to the hotel. The parking was full, the chairs at the pool and beach more than impossible, the bar terrible but the worst was the noise! I understand it was a holiday, but If all the guests are given a bracelet at the check in it should be enforced that everyone uses it We'll give this property a second chance, maybe Memorial weekend is a very special date..…
from the moment we arrived we were checked in and Daniel the bellhop helped us with a weeks worth of luggage and water toys....... a full cart up to the 4th floor ! Daniel gets a Gold Star.......... The room was beautiful, we had a couples spa massage, it was amazing, a great way to relax..... Then to the on premise restaurant for a late lunch, it was amazing, Everyone here, is so happy and grateful to be here, cheerful and hello`s from all the staff, so very nice We went on a water cruise and Todd was our Captain, he was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us a great tour all the way across Key Largo to the Atlantic Ocean......... We had a great time, Todd you Rock !
Location, views, grounds, service were all good but room left a lot to be desired for over $1100 for 2 nights. It needs some work and as you can see from the pics attached, paint and a doorstop would be a good start and easy fix but not done. Agree with assessment by another guest that the bed on the frame was weird. That 6-inch gap around the perimeter of the mattress took some work to maneuver around. Also, the door to the balcony was not easy to open/close/lock. I would just say to lower your expectations when you think about what you envision for the price and the word "resort" and what your room and the amenities will entail.
We stayed here for 3 nights, treated ourselves to the King Penthouse. We had stayed here years ago when it was a Marriott in a regular room and thought it was pretty nice. When we saw it was changed over to an Opal property, we assumed it would be more "top of the line" and so we splurged on the best room. When we checked in, there was no help with luggage, you drive yourself over near your room and carry it up yourselves on the elevator. When I asked about a cart, she said "there should be one by the elevator" Of course, there wasn't! It was a nice big room, with wraparound balconies, separate bedroom and a full kitchen. However, the sofa that was facing the TV in the living room was probably the most uncomfortable piece of furniture EVER! I guess because it was a sofa-bed so you could bring your children or whatever. For the two of us hoping for a luxurious time, it was painful to sit on. The king bed was comfortable, but the mattress was placed on a frame that left about a 6 inch gap all around the bed. At first I thought they put a queen mattress on a king frame, but it was definitely a king mattress, so I'm not sure what size the frame was supposed to be (see picture). It was very weird. The service was good and food/drink at the pool were standard, but another thing that drove me crazy was the water noise! I don't mean natural waves, but they had about 10 fountains that sprayed water 24 hours a day. So all you heard was the loud whooshing of water. (They said it was the ambiance they wanted!) Anyway, we gave all our feedback to the manager on duty our second day, but they didn't seem too eager to change anything or compensate us in any way. My husband fell in the parking lot and we went to the desk for Band-Aids. They struggled to find us about 3 little Band-Aids and some burn cream (?) to use. Won't stay here again.…
I’ll make it simple and to the point Dont stay on the tower on the south Every weekend the resort next door has weddings and you’ll barely be able to sleep, or hear your Tv with loud music Room need did I said need SOUND PROOfing You can hear everything from your next door room, all the conversations from the corridor and all the sliding doors opened and closed from adjoining rooms Some rooms have been refreshed by Opal There are others like mine who are really old, dirty and broken My shower door was broken and was able to be opened one way Service at pool was shot handed so orders took quite a while Opal should consider removing Soon , otherwise their brand name will be deteriorated just like this hotel Good luck trying to get room service
The family drove to the Keys with no plans or prior reservations. While looking for a place to stay for a few nights, we found the Reefhouse Resort. We were able to get a room with a gorgeous view of the water. The rooms were clean and spacious and had a full size balcony to sit and enjoy the view. There is a nice pool with a hot tub and a beach area. You can rent kayaks and wave runners at the end of the pier. They have a small beach volleyball area. The staff was very friendly and the resort itself was well maintained. We were only at the resort during the morning and evening hours, but enjoyed the relaxation atmosphere during that time.
This property was likely very nice when it was newer but it is showing signs of aging and in need of some repairs and most certainly soundproofing. The lobby is gorgeous so that along with the price per night we thought we were in for a really nice treat. We were the ones who got the middle floor room above the open echo chamber parking deck (kids love to scream and hear their echo) and next to the elevator- yeah…. No. The sheets were clean but everything else seemed a bit careworn and the shower needed a good scrub with some soap scum remover. Not the worst I’ve been in though, just the worst at this price point. Aside from the elevator and echoes from the parking deck, the workers’ meeting place and staging ground where their supplies were housed were also right below us so we got to hear back up beeps at all hours and echoing chatter among those folks as well. Wasn’t there a memo about how voices echo throughout this property? The worst was Friday night before we needed to get up early to go to the airport. A wedding with incredibly loud music and announcer carried on next door from about 6-11. Couldn’t hear the tv, too loud to try to sleep. I may sound like an old fart complaining about other vacationers who are simply not self aware and trying to enjoy themselves, but actually I’m a middle aged stressed out attorney who just wants some rest from humanity and all of its idiocy. So, soundproofing would have cured all of the issues I have with this place. I would have even overlooked the soap scum build up, the nail patches that were not painted over in the bathroom and even the knowledge of every time one of my neighbors flushed the toilet (hope it all came out ok for you? What?! A double flush…911) and the in-out, in-out of people opening and slamming shut their sliding balcony doors. The other Opal property on Key West is much quieter (go figure!) so clearly they got something right with soundproofing. Reef House if you’re reading this, invest a few bucks in this property and give it a needed facelift.…
