We had a great time at the resort and we are repeat guests. It is a great place and everything and everyone there deserves a thanks again from me. I especially want to point out a special experience we had at the beach tiki bar with Tatyana. She was very knowledgeable, experienced, and committed to her position. She spent a long time pushing and selling various local drinks to the point where no rational person could refuse! After spending an hour or so and hearing her tell several people that they were not allowed to leave and that she knew what room they were in I felt obligated to ask for permission to ask for the ability to depart. I was initially refused my request. After discussion with my girlfriend our options Tatyana determined that I was a threat to her plan and we were immediately chained and shackled to a nearby palm tree. After being served several involuntary margaritas and vitamin supplements she advised us that we were to be released. We were promptly removed of our footwear, blindfolded, sent in the direction of our room, and instructed to forget the incident. I would, and will, return to Bakers Cay anytime due to this level of service and extreme commitment to customer service. Great times had by all and you will not be disappointed!!! All for you Tat!! Haha!…
Stayed here between Xmas and New Year, and strongly recommend this place. We had a hard time getting the 6 nights as availability seemed to change daily during Decmeber but in the end, it worked out. As HHonors Diamonds, we ended up with tree-facing room the first night but were able to switch to the oceanfront rooms on the second through sixth nights. Staff was proactive and helpful to find us a new room. The only negative could be that there is really nothing within walking distance of the hotel, but most customers come here by car so I don't think that really matters much. The rest are positive points! Here they are-- daily sunset toast with sparkling wine; free use of fishing gear to fish off of the boat dock, where we caught (and released!) lots of small, beautiful ocean fish; breakfast for Diamonds may have changed recently, but as of January 1, 2021 it offered full breakfast in the restaurant; there was a free bicycle rental that we used to get into town a bit and go to CVS, and the post office. Nice bike path goes along the highway. We had a great time!…
Things I would have liked to have known before booking this resort: 1.) we booked for our anniversary. We specifically booked because of the fun waterfront amenities. They were closed down for our entire stay. Know that if the weather is bad or the water is choppy, there’s Nothing to do here and they will close down the amenities. 2.) you would think with the amenities closed down, the staff would be available, but requests were ignored. It took 2 days and asking 4 times for an extra blanket. We asked over the phone, then we walked to the front desk the next day and asked in person. Still had to call AGAIN 12 hrs later when no blanket arrived. Same thing happens with food service. 3.) the hot tub was rather disgusting for a hotel in this price range. Since the resort was cold when we were there, this was a big disappointment.…
The deskriptions of the rooms are “oversold” and dirty. Staff at the reception has an attitude and does not seem to care about the guests. Staff in charge of the kids arrangements is the only 4* about this hotel. Restaurants are okay but overpriced.
My Wife and I live in Florida and love to visit Key West often. We decided it might be interesting to try out a resort in the upper Keys so we did some research and wound up choosing Baker’s Cay. Upon arrival the place is rather impressive. Our enthusiasm was short lived. Turns out this place is both family-friendly and dog-friendly. Bad combination for a retired couple looking for a quiet luxurious place to stay. Screaming, whining kids and barking dogs break the silence constantly. At the beach. At the restaurant. And even in your room! Very poor sound deadening in the rooms. There must be some way to get rooms here at a discount because I can’t imagine all these young families have the money to stay here. We were paying over $800 per night! Food is good, not great. Service is good, not great. The water sports equipment area by the beach is actually a third party business that obviously cares little about helping guests since while we were staying at the resort they either ignored us or simply were not there. The rooms are again good but not great. Certainly not adequate for this price point. Very noisy and not very well appointed. Very little storage, no alarm clock. The property is also very poorly laid out. There are two pools; adult-only and family. Great idea except they are right next to each other and are located all the way at one end of the property out by the parking lot. It’s like they were an afterthought rather than designed for easy guest use. The building itself I appears to be in good shape but is very sterile. All white and very few decorations. I swear the place resembles an old corporate headquarters more than a tropical resort. Bottom line, it’s very expensive and certainly not a place where you can go to relax.…
We had a great time over Xmas holiday 2022. Ladies at the front desk always very kind. Since we are Diamond members and had a 7 night stay, we got upgraded to a room with a fantastic view (402 Hammock wing). Rooms nice and clean, beach on a smaller side but well taken care of (we were expecting that since this is a boutique hotel and not a huge resort), good food at both restaurants, and killer cocktails at the bar! My daughter enjoyed fishing with her dad in the morning, and we all enjoyed the Hammock beach and how secluded it felt. Close to local restaurants and breweries, but far away from crowds. If we head out to Key Largo again, this will be where we are going to stay for sure. Hotel is very family and dog friendly.
Great resort for relaxing in a beautiful location. With a nice beach area and hammocks to read a book or whatever you chose. The staff and accommodations were top notch. Definitely will return and refer this location. This location is definitely a “go back again”.
Tatyana at the tiki bar is awesome. She a quick, fun and accommodating bartender. The resort is lovely and all of the employees are great. Our room has a fantastic view. We will absolutely come back!!
This property is an old outdoor hallway property that has been painted to look new. The lobby is beautiful. The bar is wonderful, the staff in the bar was wonderful. The staff at checkin and checkout were lazy, rude and unaccommodating. The checkin was just a struggle, had to pull things out of her as if it was my job to welcome us. Diamond member here that travels for a living and this was the worst I’ve seen.
This place was beautifully laid out and situated right along the water, complete with mangrove forest. I was completely caught off-guard by the quality of my stay at Baker's Cay, which was also the site of the wedding we were in town for. The resort did an A+ job helping to put on a memorable event for the newlyweds and their guests. My only complaint is that the walls are very thin and noise carries easily from the outside into your room.
