Worst place in the keys. Too much regulation. No party at all. Just for old people to sleep. Don’t waste your money in this place. Super boring. Management rude. Food nothing relevant. No beach on place. Waiter are nice and try to service you, but is the management who doesn’t help.
Do not hesitate in booking the Bungalows Key Largo! This resort is absolutely gorgeous! The grounds are even more amazing in person and are impeccably maintained, the service is 5 star and food was top notch! I'm a tough reviewer when it comes to these things and I know it can be difficult to pull the plug on a vacation at this price while not truly knowing what to expect but this was all WORTH IT. I would recommend reading all the FAQs on this resort in order to be prepared and know all the policies in advance. After reading a few of the negative reviews, it seems most were disappointed by things they could have educated themselves on in advance. We booked 4 nights and rented a car from Miami to drive down to Key Largo. We fully expected to take a drive and leave the resort one day but because this is such a serene and private oasis, we didn't want to leave! This was our babymoon and it was the perfect place for it. I fully expected to RELAX and have quiet, pleasant days by the water, good food and daily naps. :) Even if the noise level is too high for you near the pool, there are many options to move and lay in other areas with a water view. The food here was awesome! No complaints whatsoever. I was not sure what to expect because I couldn't find many photos online so I wanted to share food photos here for others who are also curious. We tried just about every restaurant and menu. The wait staff is full of recommendations to ensure you're ordering the best items on the menu! :) I enjoyed a prenatal massage at the Zen spa, highly recommend! We also did a sunset cruise on our last night which was gorgeous. The boats are magnificent. It can get a bit chilly on the waters so dress accordingly! One of my favorite special touches was the turn down service. Every night the maids come into your room while you're at dinner and turn down the bed, make sure your fridge is full of water/sodas and leave a special treat for you! We left the resort so happy that we booked for our babymoon here! I definitely recommend 3 to 4 nights. 4 nights gives you the reservation at Bogie and Bacall's. This gives you just enough time to try every restaurant/menu and enjoy the resort to it's full potential!…
Good resort, mixed service, much better alternatives in Mexico/Bahamas. 2/5 - Food (which is supposed to make up a substantial portion of the total room night cost/value proposition for guests) was okay. Shrimp, pizza, and cocktails were great but everything else was just ok (some not even good). For $1.5k+ a night you’re better off taking the extra plane flight to Bahamas or Mexico to get world acclaimed food at cheaper room night costs. Food at the resort was bland and nothing stood out in particular. For $800 a night I would’ve said the food is great but save your money and go somewhere else if you want to eat amazing food. - Bungalows + Biking. Easily the best part of the resort and something that they tend to do really well. The rooms were 100% clean and they even took down a tree that was leaking foliage into the hot tub in backyard of Bungalow. They bring towels and other things in a matter of minutes. The biking around the resort was so fun and the premises romantically themed, well lit at night, and very clean. - Service. Honestly not good but not terrible. 4/10. We had really bad waiters that completely forgot about our table and we have had to bug other staff to get us a drink we ordered or to get the check so we can leave in time for a scheduled activity elsewhere on the resort. Other nights we had impeccable service. Very dependent on which person is serving you/getting you drinks. The same drink tastes different per the server. We had one incident that was not handled well by the staff where we saw a cabana that was empty and not being used but someone had left Sun-lotion on it, after waiting to see if other cabanas freed up or see if anyone returned, we decided to lay there and enjoyed it for an hour until a couple came up and brought the staff over with them saying we moved their things and took their seats. Granted, we were fine moving but the staff scolded us for moving their Sun-lotion and told us we had to leave and escorted us away without proving us a better option. The couple proceeded to put their other stuff on the cabana and walk away for an hour not using it. There are only 3 cabanas on the side of the beach everyone is enjoying resort pools + live entertainment. There should be rules in place about how long someone can leave and not use amenities or there should be a reservation process in place for cabanas since they are limited. We think the resort has the onus here to ensure the price tag is not limited by other guests and that’s part of what makes a great resort different from a good resort. It’s ok if only good but (then again) lower your price to reflect your competitiveness. Again, Bahamas and Mexico are a short plane ride away and very affordable in my experience. - Amenities. Good pools and great places to lounge (chairs, cabanas, and a lot more). NOTE: there is no beach for you to get into the water and swim in. There’s just sand and lake-like water beyond the rocks against the sand. It wasn’t a huge thing for us but for others may be the main thing they are expecting and will be disappointed. I should also note that the keys are known primarily for the reefs/snorkeling. They do have activities that require an extra fee for snorkeling and sunset cruises. The sunset cruise was amazing and 100% would recommend. We didn’t do any snorkeling but would’ve loved to. Compared to the top top all inclusive adults only resorts I think they could have more engaging activities (poker night, contests, etc) and offer several options at a time. - Final thoughts. We thought if the food would’ve been something special and if the service was just a little better we would plan on returning (despite the lack of beach and competitive activities). After all this is the only adults only, all inclusive resort in the keys…and what they do well they do well. However, the asking price of $1.5k+ a night is not good value and with just a bit more effort on the consumers part there’s so much more. The Bungalow may rationalize the cost for couples that don’t want to/can’t travel outside the U.S.…
Give this place a try! We can't wait for our return visit. The grounds are beautiful and so tropical. The amount of palm trees is stunning! The staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered on a vacation. They were always smiling and willing to help with whatever was needed. The tipping policy was no issue for us. We felt like the staff deserved good tips due to the service we received. And you do not have to tip every single time they bring you a drink by the pool or the bar. They will keep a tab open and you tip at the end. Not a big deal or inconvenience to us. The bungalows are perfect! They aren't huge, but why do they need to be? With the grounds as beautiful as they are and the pools, hot tubs, bars, view....... the rooms are plenty big! And the bungalows individual outdoor space is amazing! This is where you will want to spend your time while back at your room. SO private and relaxing. We had a garden room and I would choose that again. We were in room 133. Just a very short walk and we were on the beach. We never waited for a seat at the bar and there were always enough chairs by the pool or in the sand. Food was amazing as were the drinks. We enjoyed the kayaks a couple times and enjoyed the live music. There are also daily activities if you choose to participate. But they aren't disruptive activities if you are just wanting to chill by the pool. We appreciated that. If you are looking to just go relax for a few days. This is the place. We feel like we got what we paid for and will not hesitate to return.…
My first impressions of The Bungalows wasn't great. We arrived at 4PM and got checked in to our "Bungalow" - the check in process was good, golf cart to the room, a little tour on the way. We wanted to drop our stuff and and grab something to eat, after seeing the room. It's nice - nothing super luxurious, no "suite" feel, no chair or couch, just a room with a desk, dresser, coffee bar, and bathroom, there's an outdoor space with an outdoor shower, and a bathtub, for those that love to be nude outdoors, maybe they'd spend all their time there. Our bathtub was gross, hair and dirt. I wasn't going to use it anyway, so I didn't even call about it. Onwards to the bar area, where there are tables looking over the Bay - beautiful! We sat down in some shade and realized that no one was waiting on tables at 4:30, so we had to order at the bar and self serve. I thought it was a little weird that no one was waiting on the tables, and the bartenders were cleaning and made me wait for quite a bit before I was acknowledged. So Far? Wondering why we were paying $1500.00 a night for a garden bungalow, if the service was going to be like this and hair in the tub. Service hiccups: pre-tipped a guy that we asked about where we could get a few things I forgot, (floss, razor) he said he'd bring it to our room, he never did. We had booked a sunset cruise for 2 the night we came in (extra charge), I asked twice where we were to go, and we were told to go to a giant catamaran where there were a bunch of people. The Captain figured out we were on the wrong dock, and directed us to where we were supposed to be. I did ask. Twice. At Sea Senors, (only open for dinner and part of the "all inclusive" package. I told the waiter I can not have bell peppers, I got not only green peppers on my fish, but green, red and yellow pepper in the rice. I pointed it out to our waiter and he was mortified, and brought a manager over to ask if I wanted something else. In this day and age of food allergies and a high end resort, I am still shaking my head. So after all of that? We were booked for two nights, there's a definite preference given to those that stay 4 or more nights, discounts, dining at their "premium" steak house, Bogie and Bacalls, otherwise it's $300.00 a couple. That made me feel like the place money grubs, and is unappealing to me. The wine you can buy on the in room dining list is also way overpriced, in my opinion. That kind of stuff irks me. The grounds are GORGEOUS! The pools are clean and lovely, everything looks great. There's a Zen pool, if I had an extra day, I would have read a book there, and maybe tried for a nap. The workout area is outside, so pretty hot to get on a Peloton, but it looked nice. I didn't do the Spa, but heard great things. Highlights - playing corn hole with the guys that help guests out with the kayaks and SUP - my husband and I were going to play and they came running up, excited to play, and made teams. They made it a lot of fun. We saw a manatee, the boat ride we booked was very nice, it was an electric boat so it was super quiet, we had ordered some appetizers, it was all good, except for the scallops had bell peppers on them. Our Captain was chatty and friendly, she showed us some Pelicans roosting, and some jellyfish that don't sting. It was a beautiful night. Fish Tails is the breakfast and dinner All Inclusive meals, we only ate breakfast there, very nice spread, or you can order off the menu. We ate at the bar once, I thought the meat lovers pizza had too much cheese on it, and the crust was a bit thick, we saw lots of half eaten "pizzettes" As much as I read about the place, I don't understand anyone not liking the food, it was all either good or excellent. The crowd was mostly 30 - 40 I think - I felt like I needed a tattoo to fit in, but didn't run out and get one. Most everyone was pretty casual, a few glammed up at night, I think smart casual would be appropriate everywhere. I'm not sure how I feel about All Inclusive Resorts, the kayaks and SUP, were "included" there were a few daybed cabana spots here and there that get snapped up fast, those aren't reserved and they are free. There are plenty of placed to sit either in the shade or in the sun with a beautiful view of the bay. Drinks were included, I think there's an uncharge for some alcohols, but I was fine with Titos. You get a bill with 0 on it, that you can add a tip to, or you can leave cash. There is "free" yoga every morning and a daily schedule if they add any activities. Music at the bar varied greatly in talent. It's over 21, which is kind of nice to be honest, to not have crying kids all over the place, and stressed out Mom's trying to deal with them. The place had a fire that burned part of the main restaurant building, and then had COVID to contend with, so they've bee up against it, but I feel for the price - those small irritation should not occur, and the Food Allergy issue should be driven home to the Chefs and all kitchen staff. The Beach Bungalows are more expensive, and do have a water view - through all of the guest chairs and umbrellas. Unless they are larger, and have perks I don't know about. I wouldn't bother paying another 400 a night for those. It truly is a wonderful spot, if they get their act together on service, food allergies, and I think they need to tone down the 2 night stay shaming - We didn't book for longer, because we were afraid if we didn't like it, we'd be stuck there for a ton of money, My husband really loved the vibe, and the other patrons where very nice. It wasn't a "drink all the booze you can cuz it's included" crowd. Also a major DISLIKE for me, is if you have an early arrival? You have to fork over $300 bucks to hang out there, same I you have a late departure, after 11 am there is a fee to say on the property. I have never heard of a place that wouldn't let you eat lunch and use the pool if you have a later flight. It's cheap and unwelcoming in my opinion. I think it has some great potential, to be up against some other places I've stayed that are high end, but it has just a bit more to go.…
I can't say enough great things about this place. I have never been a big fan of Key Largo, but the moment you pull into this property you feel like you are transformed into another world. They greet you as you pull in and the vacay starts right there. The property is impeccable and the site planner was a true visionary. I loved the plants, pathways, individual bungalows and the staff take it to another level. Whoever is doing the hiring did a great job. The quality of the food and drinks are great and everyday they had live music in the late afternoon through the evening. My only criticism is that the bars and restaurants push tipping. Since it is an all-inclusive, I'd rather they just adjust the rate so the guests don't have to close out their tabs every time. I will definitely go back. Keep up the good work.…
Having used TripAdvisor for recommendations for almost as long as they’ve existed, it’s time to contribute back. The Bungalows in Key Largo is exactly what we were looking for coming out of COVID lockdown. It’s like a cruise on land - and for the COVID-conscious, it’s far safer than most places because your entire stay can be almost entirely outdoors (if you want it to be). Almost every aspect of this trip was delightful, and those that weren’t pretty were much directly tied to the behavior of our fellow guests - not the Bungalows staff. It’s paradise from the moment you are swept away through the magic gates into a tropical wonderland (which is equally enchanting at night as in the day due to the lighting). The food is good to great, the drinks are tasty and plentiful, and the accommodations are stunning. The staff is friendly and outgoing. Simply put, it is what they advertise it is, and they do what they advertise they will do. And that’s sadly sort of unique these days. Most importantly, I want to mention Cynthia in guest services. As we approached our first post-COVID vacation, we had some brutal personal challenges in our families which required emergency attention. Without getting into detail, let me simply say that Cynthia was like an angel in the midst of our troubles. She went well above and beyond any expected level of service to provide exemplary, caring support during a very challenging time. As the saying does: “Look for the helpers.” Well, Cynthia is far more than a helper. Thanks to her - and to the rest of our wonderful vacation - we will be frequent visitors to The Bungalows in Key Largo. While I deeply hope you don’t have to deal with the type of situation we did, knowing that a staff member and a business can unhesitatingly care so much is priceless.…
I had the most magical experience at the Bungalows this week. The resort itself is stunning in every direction & the staff is extremely accommodating and kind. If you’re looking to stay, a massage at the spa is a non-negotiable. I booked a service after my flight with Jose and had one of the best massages of my life. He’s very experienced, intuitive, and professional -the time flew by. I recommend to book the longest service you can with him because you will love every second and it’s the best way to spoil yourself after a long flight. So grateful to the staff for one of the most memorable trips yet!
These 1, 2 or 3 star reviews are nonsense. I have stayed at many all inclusive’s and the Bungalow’s ranks up with the best. Food and service was excellent. Friendly and very attentive staff. The Bungalow’s themselves were awesome. Bikes are a great way to get around. The tipping policy should change, but does not change my opinion of this place. My wife and I will be back!!
We had a great trip to the Bungalows. Love the room, outdoor shower and tub. Food was really good with nice variety. Always a place to perch, either by a pool, the ocean, or at the indoor Living Room. Such friendly staff in all ways: smiles, greetings, care. We will be back!
