I’ve stayed at Hyde Resorts & Residences before but this time was by far the easiest checking into the hotel. I was very stressed because I had little time to get ready for an event I had to go to but Mario at the front desk made everything so much simpler and quicker and it meant a lot. Very great service.

I booked a two bedroom condo on the 40th floor at the Hyde through AirBnB, which had very high reviews. I assumed all of the terrible reviews here and on Google related only to the hotel portion of the building, so I ignored them. Do yourself a favor, and don't make the same mistake I did. The only, and I mean only, redeeming quality of this hotel is the fantastic view from the room we rented on the 40th floor. It was truly spectacular. With that being said, below is a description of the comedy of errors that was our stay at the Hyde: 1. We arrived in our rental car at 5:30 p.m. The driveway was so unorganized and congested that we weren’t able to pull up and unload anything around 6:00. Even then, no one from the valet service approached to help us. I went to the valet stand, and the employee acted like he was doing me a favor to valet the vehicle. He also spoke almost no English, seemed to be nodding off, and did not give any instructions on how or where to retrieve the car. 2. After we unloaded all of our bags and groceries and set them on the sidewalk, we tried to find a baggage cart to bring our things into the hotel. Myself, my wife and my 2 year hold were standing next to a huge pile of luggage and groceries, and no one even attempted to point us in the right direction or give us a luggage cart. After about 20 minutes, we found a security guard who gave us a cart (in exchange for my wife’s driver’s license). 3. The line to check in was also about 20 minutes. Again, the employee who checked us in acted like she was doing us a favor. She then proceeded to give us 4 elevator keys, none of which actually worked for our floor. 4. Then came….the elevator. I have absolutely no idea how this sad excuse for a high end resort continues to attract guests with the amount of time it took to get on an elevator. There are only 5 elevators for the entire 41 story high-rise. It was like playing a game of Russian roulette. You might get an elevator within a minute or two, or it might take 20-30 minutes. I’ve stayed and worked in high-rises, and I’ve never experienced anything close to this. After check-in, it ONLY took about 15 minutes to get an elevator to our room…with keys that didn’t work. The only way we got off on our floor was that our host was coincidentally on the same elevator as us delivering the baby crib we ordered with the room. 5. So, from arrival until the time we made it into our room, it took more than an hour until we made it to our room. 6. In general, I have never been to a resort where I was treated so rudely and felt so unwelcome by front of house employees. 7. Then there is the beach, which is nice enough in and of itself. I mean, its South Florida. However, the chairs and umbrellas for Airbnb visitors are located more than 200 yards down the beach at a place called “Esteban’s Place” The walk itself was bad enough, but Esteban’s Place was a joke. First, despite having two bedrooms, they only provide 1 umbrella and two chairs. The fee to rent another set is $35. Whatever, I was fine with that. But there were no towels available until 11:30 on two of the four days we visited, and there is no beach drink or food service. They simply give you a menu with a number to call the hotel bar located behind them, who then proceeds to “deliver” your order by screaming down the beach and waiving their hands in the air to try and find you. 8. The pool scene was one of the more bizarre I’ve seen. For some reason, there are two overzealous security guards that seem far too concerned with where guests are sitting, and keeping people out of the “reflecting pool”, which is really just a baby pool with an elevated tent in the middle. It felt like being inmates in the yard at a prison. The pool itself was not maintained and pretty gross, with spent cigar butts other garbage sitting around the edges. I guess the place is trying to be trendy by charging $20 for diluted cocktails and blasting house music, but it’s kind of strange to do that when 50% of the clientele seemed to be families with small children. 9. The pool restaurant was OK. The hostesses were some of the few people that didn’t look at you with disdain when you dared to order something at the hotel. But then, I tried to order takeout food to my room on Sunday (which I had done the two days prior) and for some reason the fact that they were serving brunch precluded this. Really made no sense. 10. With the exception of the front desk, barely anyone in this hotel speaks English. I understand this is South Florida, but come on. At least if you’re going to be rude, do it to me in a language I understand completely. 11. It took FOUR trips to the front desk before they were able to get my elevator key cards to work for my condo. I noticed several other people throughout our stay whose key didn’t work, then were forced to get off the elevator and take the stairs back to the lobby. 12. The security guard at the hotel elevators was even ruder than the prison guards at the pool. 13. The lobby area is tiny for a building of this size. It was almost always overcrowded no matter the time of day. 14. There is no access to the beach from the rear of the building. You have to walk out of the front lobby, back through the valet area, up down the driveway to get to the beach entrance. To summarize, if you want to have a relaxing vacation with little stress and friendly accommodations, DO NOT STAY HERE.

Don’t just walk away from this hotel, RUN! Filthy rooms (disgustingly stained couches and carpet, dirty clothes from previous occupant, horribly smelling fridge etc) , and terrible customer service. You’d probably get better customer service at the brooklyn dmv. I don’t know how they earned the status of 4.5 stars, it is false advertising.

I have never stayed somewhere that had such horrible customer service! Order door dash twice food was left in the lobby a picture was sent to me of where it was left when I got down to the lobby the manager advised me it’s not her problem that someone had taken my food but it just so happened she order the same exact order from the same place at the same time??? She obviously stole & was eating the food that was order for my 2 year old child! She then told me all the amazon packages that were left on the counter anyone can take them and it’s not her problem! So BEWARE!!!!!!Horrible horrible horrible DO NOT STAY here! Don’t waste your time they are so rude won’t help you with anything! Has no accommodations! Horrible for families!!!! Get your moneys worth and stay down the strip on Hollywood side trust me! I checked out early due to inconvenience, unprofessional, horrible way I was treated and talked to.

BEWARE OF STAYING HERE Waiting for elevators for over 20 min to go up to your room is NOT acceptable Noise in rooms, when we complained we were told that is all they have and we are welcome to check out and go somewhere else No manager on staff. Asked over 4 times to speak to someone, only to be told they took the day off, are not there, or had to leave early. Dismal customer service and not worth $100 a night, let alone the $520 night room charges we paid. Very poorly run
