I am giving this hotel such high rating, not because it is a 5 star resort, but because it is five stars for its category – a funky, cool place right on the beach. This was a risk for my husband and myself to make a reservation somewhere which was not a chain. But we wanted to stay right on the beach, the prices at the Diplomat were ridiculous and I didn’t find staying at the Marriot very inspiring. So we took a risk and made the reservation. When I entered the office the very nice manager was trying to explain to me where my husband should park. I was not understanding, so, she got up, left the office and walked me to the spot! Who does that!? And the parking fee was $15 overnight – a total bargain given we had just paid $10 for 2 hours to park for lunch nearby. As we walked to our room I was a bit apprehensive because the room overlooked the courtyard with the tiki bar where live music was playing. Although the music was very good, I was afraid it would be too loud later when I went to bed. When I asked about that the manager told me they stop at 8:30, which was a relief. The room was good. There were new floors so there was no gross carpet to deal with. Although the property is older I think they did a nice job with upgrades like putting nice tile in the bathroom. I saw a beach chair in the closet, which was a nice surprise - given the beach was steps away and I didn’t think to bring one, and a beach umbrella which was unfortunately broken. I decided to go back to the manager and ask if they had a second chair and new umbrella. She was very apologetic explaining that they didn’t. The bartender happened to be in the office during this conversation and turned to me and said, “I have one in my car I can get if you want to borrow it?” What? Who does that?! The manager and bartender are completely top-notch, I mean Breakers level customer service. We had a wonderfull stay. The tiki bar is cute, the drinks are good and the prices are beyond reasonable. The bed and linens was comfortable enough for a good night sleep; no complaints there. I will say, the one issue I had was the noise from the in-wall air conditioner. As an older property without central air they good a job with the units installed in the wall in that they seemed new and they kept the room quiet chilly. But they are loud. Thankfully I am in the practice of wearing ear plugs and had them with me. In all we had a wonderful stay. The place is funky cute with an amazing location and even better employees. We liked it so much we planned another stay coming up in two months. If you don’t require high-end resort accommodations and want to be right on the beach – this place is perfect!

We knew we would be in for a vintage stay, but what we experienced was pretty alarming! Housekeeping seems to be a big problem, as safe was locked, so they obviously don’t check it, silverware had food crusted on it (I went to the store and bought my own), hardly any pans, no ice trays, rusty freezer shelves, stains on back of both bathroom doors, lightbulbs out, and on and on. No hot water in the kitchen sink! Not even warm. It was fine in in bathroom, so that’s where I washed dishes, since they never sent anyone to fix it, after 4 days of calls. Now the heart stopping part, literally: My husband uses a cpap machine and during the night the plug blew, sparked and sudden he could not breath. So, at 3am he was searching for another plug to get back to sleeping with this life saving equipment. Maybe the electrical system needs some attention? Mattress was way too soft and worn, pillows awful. On the bright side, the on-site Tiki Bar was fun, with friendly live singer. Had the rating been properly done, to reflect the neglect, I would not be writing this, but it was rated over 8, so I didn’t expect such problems. They did refund our parking and resort fee, after I spoke with the housekeeping manager, as she seemed quite upset with our experience. The resort fee is a joke, as internet is inferior, and there is no pool, beach chairs, or free parking. First and last stay.

Limited parking at site. They have a small lot available about a block away for $15 a day. Old facility that doesn't seem to be kept up very well. Our room was over the office and the office window air conditioner was very loud when it came on so difficult to sleep. Location is very nice and nice view of the ocean but the big window was filthy.

The view was absolutely amazing and the staff was very friendly, but it was quite dated. There was very minimal counter space in the kitchen and in the bathroom, no hot water in the shower and there were few pots and pans along with cutlery. The appliances were in rough shape along with the pots and pans.

Had an Ocean View room that had dirty windows and shutters that banged against the windows all night. The room was old and dirty. The pictures were very deceiving. Thankfully I was with friend that didn’t make too big a deal out of it. Some other friends would not have stayed. For $250 a night plus parking we were very disappointed. Location is fantastic and entertainment and tiki bar nice, although drinks are made with “wine based liquor “. Would not book again.
