We needed a room for a seminar in Gainesville, and this being the home of the University of Florida most rooms are over $100/night. I was a little concerned getting a room for $60, but I went to TA and notice that the reviews were good and consistent. We were not disappointed, the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were helpful. We did notice that they were doing some upgrading in the halls and some of the rooms. VERY affordable and it is not a "cheap hotel".

Stayed here Friday night and Saturday night for Gators game. The place is certainly NOT new. However, you can walk to the stadium (1.3 miles) and it is a place to sleep. That's about it. I was a bit concerned after some of the reviews, I personally didn't experience anything like that. It's not a resort, it is what it is it serves a basic purpose.

I knew Gainesville Lodge was the "cheapest" place for me to stay at so I didn't expect any frills. My room was clean ... the bed was clean and very comfortable so my expectations were exceeded. I had read reviews complaining of smell, roaches, etc.
My room (#105) had no smell ... saw no bugs ... checked the matress for bed bugs, found none ... pillows comfortable. I only wanted a quick overnight stay as I teach at University of Florida and live in St. Augustine and didn't have time to get home so I chose this location and was happy for the value received for my money.

I should have known that you get what you pay for - the owner's husband was a bit scary looking, lurking behind the door when his wife checked me in. The room was just okay, but it was very convenient, my daughter lives in the graduate apt complex right next door. I did change rooms the first night from a shower stall that was dark and very small, to a room with a tub and shower. Quiet enough - but BED BUGS! Didn't get the bites til the second night, which was odd, but don't stay here - you won't get any satisfaction from the owners! Creepy! Only other redeeming quality was that the maid was very friendly!

I stayed at the Gainesville Lodge for 3 nights. My check in was easy & the desk clerk was friendly. My room was very clean, it came with a fridge & microwave. The bathroom was a little on the small side (no bathtub) but it was clean also. The only negative that I have is the walls are very thin. I could literally hear what the other person was watching on TV. Other than that issue, it was a very pleasant stay.

I really wanted to like this place, and the management was very nice. But the place was really bad, the room smelled awful, was shabby, my family took one look and refused to stay. We paid the night, but went and booked another room at the nearby Holiday Inn. Sorry Gainesville Lodge.

Chose this place after much debate over another. It is clean, but you do get what you pay for. No breakfast, some construction going on which was noisy, I think they're improving the rooms. Not a bad place to stay if you just want a clean room and a bed.

This location was ideal for our vacation to visit family in Gainesville. We booked two rooms for Thanksgiving week- all we needed was an affordable, clean place to sleep and shower, Gainesville Lodge delivered. The rooms are old, but they are clean and comfortable.
The hospitality was very good. Our family will book here again the next time we come to visit.

If you want to stay as close to the city centre then this is your place. It's cheap. You get what you pay for. The rooms are very basic and clean enough. We stay here every time we visit Gainesville just for the location and the family that own it are very friendly. We have never had any trouble with noise or crime when we have visited. Overall, good place to stay.

I stayed here for over labor day weekend with a couple of friends for a festival. The rooms were clean and spacious, beds were made and bathroom facilities were all working and well kept. I had a single room to myself and the bed was huge. Could easily fit 2 in no problem. The motel is in a great location, right in the middle of downtown in the middle of everything. Food, shops and bars are all within walking distance and everything else is just a short drive to the edge of the city.
My one small complaint would be that I thought the prices were a little high, but I guess you're paying for the location.
Overall, would stay again.
