Old village is mud ruins mainly. The hotel itself is unfinished. Very limited comfort, which by itself would be ok but not for this price. Internet was not available the whole time. Food choice was limited. Our stay felt a bit like going back to stone age.

Good for a one-night stay. Amazing location, but not for the novice traveler. The hotel is literally part of an ancient, abandoned, ruined city. I loved the location, but it's not for the leisure traveler. Wear hiking shoes and expect to get dirty. Things you might LOVE: + Location is surreal but VERY rugged. + Service is AMAZING. Staff (the one guy) was absolutely fantastic. You won't have to carry any heavy bags. + Culture, oldness, authenticity. Fantastic restoration of an ancient building. + Air conditioning. A/C kept room cool and dry. + Rooftop sitting area is a great place to be after dark. + Laundry shop only a 5-min walk away. Things you might not like so much: + Room is very dusty. Structure is made of mud and thatch. Room is VERY clean. But everything is a bit dusty because of the dry mud. + Food is tolerable for a one-night stay. For two nights it's very repetitive: same food every night. Breakfast is minimal, to put it lightly. + Area directly outside the hotel could be better maintained. There was an abandoned toilet and a pile of garbage right outside the door. + Not inexpensive. This hotel is not cheap. + Cash only. Seemed very odd in a country where many places beg for your credit card. + Room was large, but space wasn't very useful. Tiny bed area. Large, empty room that could have held a table and some chairs, or perhaps a sofa. And another LARGE room set up in a very Arabic style. Things you might hate: + Bathroom is WET. The toilet and shower are in one spot. After a shower the bathroom is warm and wet and smelly for the rest of the day. It's impossible to dry it out. This means you're wet feet or shoes will be picking up the dust and making mud on the floor + There are no places to hang anything in the bathroom. Combine this with the wetness, and you've got wet towels, wet cloths, wet everything. + No wifi in the rooms.

The hospitality inn lays in the old part of Al Hamra. Very authentic building with traditional rooms. Breakfast and diner were very good, and the host is very friendly. Not very much fresh air in the rooms. Nice place to stay.

Al Hamra is a "must-visit" town of Oman. Staying in an old house in the old part of the town helps in appreciating best its charm.Bait Aljabal Hospitality Inn is an original, authentic (renovated) old house in the old town of El Hamra with a very friendly and helpful proprietor. Good breakfast is served, including local dishes. Suggestions for dinner are, also, very helpful and valuable for good quality and price. Rooms include adjacent private bathroom. The only issue is that (being traditional) there are no chairs or tables in them and sitting on the floor is not comfortable for longer times - when people are not used to this and older age can make it harder, too. Also, I understand that mud is the traditional way of building the walls but it's not the best thing to find your bedsheets covered by dirt every day. There must be a way to keep cleanliness at a better level.

I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. Sensitively restored with 10 rooms (6 ensuite, 4 w/ shared bathroom), you are staying in a 300 year old traditional Omani home. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace with beautiful views over the date palms, the town of Al Hamra is fascinating (and beats Misfah down the road in our opinion). Majid is from Al Hamra and one of the 4 owners who speaks great English. They are completing another guesthouse amongst the date palms which will also be worth checking out. The only criticism is the breakfast which is not great and could be improved with some local fresh fruit, yoghurt, honey, labneh, hommous etc.
