My daughter and I recently visited Henderson Beach State Park. We usually visit about 2 times a year as we're frequent visitors to the Destin area. The park is currently undergoing some renovations to improve the experience for future visitors. For example, the outdoor showers...More

We brought our 32' RV here for a couple of days of spring break with our 3 grandkids. The campground is laid out well and the campsites are wonderful spots for RV's - flat with gravel, all the hookups, plenty of space, fire pit, picnic...More

This long narrow park wedged between busy Rte 98 and the Gulf may be the best RVing experience we've had. The flat pea gravel sites are very widely spaced and separated by lush plantings for a wonderful sense of privacy. Each site has a generous...More

So clean! Like the cleanest campground we've ever experienced around the USA! Nice privacy between each site. And the walk to the beach up & over the dunes isn't bad on a very nice railed boardwalk with informative markers about the area's plants & animals....More

We stayed at Henderson State Park for five wonderful nights. I highly recommend this beautiful and well run campground. Each site has a secluded spot surrounded by foliage and trees. We were at spot 52 which was a pull through and it was great hearing...More

I know it's a day late and dollar shot about getting back to you, but I don't remember the rates per day, I do though remember we stayed her in May 2016 for 6 days for only $210.

Is tent camping in July possible in Destin or on the Florida panhandle? Anywhere you can tent camp with an ocean breeze? Just for a few nights. I have electric fans and would probably spend much of the day at the beach. Basically I'm looking for shaded tent area, pretty close to a Florida panhandle beach with blue water, elec and water hook ups. IF camping in a tent anywhere on the panhandle in July is even possible without being complexity miserable at night. Warm is ok. Camped at the state park in Gulf Shores in late May, which was 70's, and know those yellow flies are awful! Is that an issue here? Will have plenty of big spray, if it works in July. It worked great there but was not swearing all day long. Some folks here say there is no shade for tent camping but the website makes it sound like the whole park is 'shady'. Any input? Anything else to do in the area? Shopping for those that want to? Water park? Bar with Pina Coladas? Would love to have more facts about tent camping before making the 6 hr trek from New Orleans! (Ideally would love to tent camp in fall but in summer rent a pop-up (or rv) with ac without spending an arm and a leg! Any info?) I see there is an 'rv share' site, but both parties have to have rvs. If there were an Airbnb swap/share with folks with an rv that would be awesome! Thanks for any advice!

I can't help you with your weather concerns - we've only been in Florida in winter or spring, never in the middle of summer. I will say the spaces in Henderson have a lot of lush greenery surrounding them. No real shade... More
