Spent the day here hiking and geocaching. Love this park! Right on the Withlacoochee River in the Green Swamp but not what you would expect from a swamp. Miles of paved trails in a loop to be biked or bladed. Multiple hiking trails including a section of the Florida National Scenic Trail along the river. Boardwalks, bathrooms, and a tower. What more could you ask for? Dogs are allowed as long as they’re leashed and you clean up their waste. Can’t beat the price.. FREE!

We stayed in the rustic cabins at Withlacoochee and had a great experience. It was difficult to find photos of the inside of the cabins online, so I wanted to post some interior photos here so others could decide before if this style of trip is for them. The park has two cabins. One sleeps 6 people and has 1 queen bed and 2 bunk beds (twin size). The second cabin sleeps 4 people and has two sets of twin sized bunk beds. The mattresses are thin and plastic-covered. I’d recommend bringing your own sheets if you’re particular about that, but a sleeping bag works fine as well. Both cabins have tables, electricity, and an AC window unit. Mostly bug-free on the inside, too! Not a single huge spider. They’re rustic cabins for sure, but if you go in with realistic expectations, you’ll have a great time.

We've been here 3 times, this is our new favorite place to camp. Quiet place to relax and affordable, you can hike with your dogs and check river or the tower. You can put up tikis and campfire but not in the overflow area. They have picnic tables and the bath/shower rooms is clean. Also, they have good size cabins.

Love this park! Special shout out to Russell who help my husband and I fix our RV awning that collapsed due to heavy rain. Russell helped us 9 years ago with a trailer issue. Russell and Dwayne make ii a pleasure to visit this beautiful treasure of a park.

New home for the Renaissance festival. Perfect spot with plenty of shade and oak trees everywhere. Parking is very decent. Didn’t have trouble finding a spot, even though it was very busy. Road in is very bumpy so bring a truck.

We hiked the trails and climbed the tower. The trails were mostly shaded and well maintained. Perfect if you are looking for something to do outside and enjoy nature. Fun for the whole family. The board walk could use some maintenance though, a few board were missing and nails sticking out.

Really lovely hiking trails, very well marked, mostly shady. Not a lot of wildlife (end of March) but nice foliage and the river and cypress trees are interesting. Ample parking, restrooms at camp sites. Kind of in the middle of nowhere (had lunch in Dade City) so pleasantly devoid of crowds.

First let me say, if you love nature, you will love it here. It's beautiful.
Accommodations:
You can camp here for $5/night in a tent. Great Price! If you want to put up a tent in the RV parking area with electric, it is only $10/ night. There were only a handful of people there when we went in June 2015. It was nice & peaceful. Lots of shade, so it was nice and cool even though it was 93 degree temp when we were there.
This was our first trip here, so we weren't really sure where the office was, so we wended up driving back to the campsites. Saw a couple with their dog staying in the RV site. They said that all we have to do is give the guy a call and he will come out. We called him, let him know where we were at. He sarcastically said something that started with "Let me guess what you did..." referring to missing the tiny office sign and going back to the campsites first. I guess he didn't realize we just drove 20+ hours to get there. I said.. "Okay, so you want us to come to the office then".. he said " UH... YEH!" Wow.. glad we took the tour ourselves first, because we almost just left.
Got to the office. He was sitting in there, but the door was locked. He saw me standing there, but didn't even acknowledge me or anything as to say.. "I will be with you in a moment". There was a note on the door with their names and phone #s, Went back to the vehicle for a few minutes and saw a family leave. Went back up and the way the guy spoke was very condescending. Any question that I asked, he acted like I was stupid and then answered me slowly. Wrote our info down on our receipt and parking pass and the code to get in and out of the place when they lock the gate at a certain time that night.
We chose the cabin with electric that was $30/night with front and back porch. It has a queen size bed and 2 bunk beds with mattresses. Ceiling fan, lights and outlets. There is a water spigot right outside the cabin. Bring your own water, don't drink that water. My son got bit by something which caused water blisters on the bite marks when laying on the bed for about 5 minutes. I would recommend bringing something to wash the mattresses. There were a lot of bugs in there- dead and alive.
They bring you free wood for your fire ring. Shower building: One shower, sink & toilet in women's room and same in men's room. You can lock the door when you go in to get the showers. The ladies room had three green tree frogs in there which we were quite amused by.
I wasn't expecting luxury. Main reason we were coming here was because of the $5/tent camping price. We had intentions of staying for a few days, but most of the stuff we had planned was in the Orlando, Kissimmee area and it was a bit of a jaunt to get back and forth. Especially everyday. Plus we would have been paying the toll roads back and forth plus gas.
We got showers before checking out and the same guy from the night before was driving around checking on everyone and asked how we were doing. When we took the key back, he was busy painting a sign, so he told me to just hang the key up on the wall. He wasn't very helpful when it came to explaining the park or it's amenities. On their website it says playground, but I saw playground pieces laying in a heap, but no playground. Plenty of places to walk, run and play. We got there kind of late and had some important stuff to do in Orlando early, so we didn't get to explore much, but would definitely go back again if we were going to hang around there.
There is No Wi-Fi but our Verizon phone worked good there. There is a huge grassy area that would be nice to walk around or play with your kids. There are paved walking paths. There was an outdoor grill and picnic table outside our cabin and they are at the tent sites as well.
Check out their website for pictures and more information: You will find the prices, pictures, each campsite listed, etc. Lots of great information.

I am almost hesitant to write a review because I selfishly want to keep this park a secret. It is a hidden gem in East Pasco County with a beautiful paved bike trail, viewing tower, fishing dock, large pavilions and great playgrounds for the kids. The campground is a new addition to this Park and acomodates RVs and tents sites with electric and water. This park is filled with beauty and unspoiled nature. We have seen deer, gopher tortoises, armadillos, osprey, hawks, Sand Hill cranes and more Florida wildlife here. But stay away because I want this place to myself. Lol

Does anyone have pics of INSIDE the cabin? I've only been able to find pics of the outside.
