Amazing tours organized by US Sugar and the Clewiston Chamber of Commerce of the huge sugar plantations. The size of the farms is gigantic, the organization of fields, machinery, irrigation and harvesting is mind blowing. Great guides in Ralph and Elaine. Learn the real story about the impact of Sugar on the Everglades. I was convinced by the story of Sugar.
stayed here loads of times when it was a KOA, but was getting ruin-down , the new owners have put a lot of work into it and a lot better now. I have one of the camping lodges with kitchen, cooker, microwave, shower and toilet, I thought a TV was included but not there. Very nice quiet place to relax, loads of events in the main building. 3 miles from town.
We heard from a friend/neighbor what a great place this was. We had recently retired and wanted to take our trailer to a nice campground for at least a month during the winter months. We booked this campground for the entire month of February and it was wonderful. We are already booked for January & February for 2019. Can't wait. Lots of friendly people, tons of activities, anything you want in a campground. You will not be disappointed!
We booked 3 winter months at this campground! People seemed very friendly and all was going well until they realized the site that was assigned to us since September was not ready. It had an electric issue. So, they put us 'temporarily' in a spot we barely fit in. Also, when booking so far in advance, there is no real reason to not be ready for our arrival.. A temporary set-up for a motor home, is really not fun! We could only see this happening if we were not reserved already for 4 months!! This began our worry with the management at this park. The "new" manager Randy was not too worried about us being displaced on our arrival.......but we were. So we go to the temporary site and we couldn't plug in because there was a plug broken off already in the unit. They had 2 people come over and replace the electrical box, with one they took from another site!! They they just plugged us in!!!!! Well, the surge of electricity into an un-grounded box, caused an electrical fire inside our couch!! We had to run outside, once the black smoke started spilling out of our electronics cabinets. So, it not only fried our satellite unit and DVR but also fried our washer/dryer!! be careful trusting him with your equipment! We could never go back and of course, we were not giving them a "third" try to give us a nice place for set-up, to spend our winter months! O, and Randy, reneged on what he told us, which was to give us his insurance company information, as we headed to Fort Meyers to get an estimate of damages at an RV repair shop we were familiar with! So, Randy stiffed us - entirely!! Great manager - for himself. Beware.......…
The new owner has successful properties and a clear vison, vast improvements in progress. The property itself is peaceful, and simple layout. Pool is refreshing and clean along with the showers and laundry room. Staff is polite, helpful, and accommodating. I recommend this campground.
