This lodge was a marvel at some point in the past- the main building is beautifully designed and built. Breakfast on the big veranda was tasty and scenic. But--- the sleeping rooms are tacky and in need of rejuvenation. There are holes in the bedsheets; the curtains are installed backwards, the mosquito nets do not match the beds- how do...

Tadlo Lodge feels like a fairly exclusive experience without the price tag. Set alongside the river and waterfalls the dining area offers magnificent views and there are lovely areas for walking as well. The room was nicely done but let down by some sizeable holes in the sheets. We also couldn't help wondering about what appeared to be the drainage...

They should be ashamed for keeping in captivity two (that i saw at least) adult elephants with chains in their legs and forcing them to stay there until some tourist shows off to see them refreshing in the river or ride them for a while. These practices are prehistorical and should be banned from any natural environment. Just look the...

an amazing place. the most fantastic was to see Claus (the owner) with his elephants - the way they were treated - and seeing them bathing in the waterfall. this is really a place to go and experience how wild animals should be treated. at the same time please do not ever go on elephant tours with the ethnic people...

Staff have limited English and I think very little training, they look lost. We were waiting for the second half of our meal...I went to enquire...all the staff were sitting down eating their meal, no one got up.. and I was told, yes it will come soon. It wasn't really worth the wait. Breakfast was not great either! Bed was...

Set in extensive grounds by Tad Lo waterfalls, the hotel has a number of different rooms in lodges. Some is budget accommodation at the other side of the bridge. Our rooms had ceiling fans and 3 rooms in a block. There looked to be some rooms with air con units. The rooms were spacious with a shared balcony, with chairs...

This hotel must be located in one of the most beautiful areas that I have ever stayed in. The waterfalls are easily accessible on paths and the dining area overlooks a series of delightful rapids. We found the American owner just a little over enthusiastic for our liking. However, the rooms are well appointed and the fan seemed an adequate...

This was one of the most underwhelming hotels on my two week visit to Laos. I was under the impression that it had a view of waterfalls, but it has a view of rapids. The rooms were clean and large, but I agree with "annaoverseas" - it seemed like camping. The bathrooms had only a trickle of hot water in...

On arrival you can see signs taped to bungalows and trees welcoming you and inviting to ask for Mr Klaus at the front desk as well as an overnight stay announced at 20$. At the front desk no Mr Klaus, only a girl saying its 25$ now. We went for the 25$ bungalow which was not very clean. Weird bathroom...

Spectacular waterfalls, elephants... It's lovely. But it feels a little like camping. The room is ok - weirdly decorated and thank goodness there is a bug net as it can get buggy. There is no hot water though - so a cold shower may be your only choice. The bed was not very comfortable and we didn't get much sleep...

“We spotted the bungalows Laurinfunzik refers to but can't corroborate if they were only $20 - but worth checking as their location looked fine too. Ask of "end of terrace" (i.e. only one shared wall) if you're a light sleeper, but the general quietness of the location compensates for the thin walls. Take a torch (flashlight) if you want to go to the village at night (which you might do after trying the restaurant once).”
