Nice clean cottages on the water, reasonably priced. Close to boat ramp. Walking distance to village shops, movies, restaurants. An annual event for us. Kids like it, even teenagers.

My husband and I go up to visit our daughter a couple of times a year and stayed in hotels the first few times. They were ok, but they were hotels. We really wanted more space, freedom and comfort; and through trip advisor we found it. Camp View is feels great from the moment you drive in - look to the right and see the bay, look to the left and see the nicest range of cottages hanging out together being inviting. Our cottage was so comfortable, well stocked and clean; it was peaceful, but we enjoyed talking to some of the employees and guests also. Our comings and goings felt private, very different from the fishbowl a hotel can be. And we had space to spread out and be comfortable - at a better price than most of the hotels in the area.

While looking for a reasonable place for a weekend in Niantic Ct. my wife and I were frustrated with the lackluster and over priced motels in the area. We found Camp View purely by accident and haven't regreted it once. The owner May keeps a gaggle of unique cabins in pristine condition. Her attention to detail is a rarity these days. Reasonably priced and with a beautiful view, come here if you want to relax. We are so comfortable here the owner, May, allowed our wedding to be held on the grounds. A must stay for any jaded traveler.

We were supposed to go here for a family trip, including around 20ish people, for a big festive. We booked multiple (around 9-10) cottages almost a year ahead of time. And two weeks before the dates they informed us that we could not stayed there, and gave a weak excuse. So we struggled to find housing anywhere near the festival due to that late notice. Will never go here again! After the new owner is running a this once beautiful place into the ground!

This year will make the third year in a row that we'll be staying at Camp View Motor Court. We are racers with the International Supermodified Association and are always on the lookout for reasonable rates. Camp View reminds us of traveling along the Lincoln Highway and finding quaint, comfortable motor courts that are reasonably priced and offer great views. There's nothing fancy or upscale about this motel, but it is clean, comfortable and almost like going home to stay in your own cabin. Highly recommended due to the attention to detail by Mae and her desire to attend to the guests needs even when arriving late or checking out late.

We stayed at this quaint little jewel for the 4th of July weekend. We arrived Thursday afternoon and the temp was 92 degrees, May (wonderful person) warned me it was going to be really hot in the cabin, I knew ahead of time there is no air conditioning. We opened every window and the front and back doors and it was still warm but not so bad. We went out for dinner and by the time we returned the rain had started and the breeze was just delightful.
We stayed in cabin #4, right in front and enjoyed the cross ventilation all weekend, we had to turn on the heat Friday and Saturday nights to take the chill off.
Everything you need is supplied. The cabin was spotless, the attention to detail is evident throughout the unit. Our cabin did have a small separate bedroom with a twin bed in it, there was no true living room so if we had one of our boys with us it would not have been ideal as he would have to be in our room to sit on the couch to watch tv. The bathroom was very tiny but extremely clean.
If you are looking for room service, maid service or high end accommodations this is not the place for you. I spent time as a child in a small summer home in NJ that had the same type of wooden screen doors that slam all the time, salt water breezes and a sense of peacefulness. I got exactly what I was looking for, I needed three days to just decompress, I did just that.
Why only 4 stars? Our bed was not comfortable at all and did put a slight and I mean slight damper on our stay.
I will be back in the Fall if possible to stay in a unit with a fireplace.
May you are doing a great job!
Forgot to mention, no wifi :-).

First I should say that the room appeared clean and tidy.
The problem started when we tried to check in. No one was there so we called the phone numbers given. No response ... for 2 hours! There could have been a note telling us which room was ours and that the room was unlocked.
When finally contacted we were asked, "are you number (room number)?" No. I have a name, I am not a room number. And I have no idea to what room you assigned me.
It was 90* when we finally got into the room. There was no air conditioning and no ceiling fans. There was a large fan in the closet that we were told to put on the counter for breeze. Five years ago, I visited Alaska and THEY had air conditioning. Even if a/c is not feasible, a ceiling fan above the bed and one in the living room should not be too much to ask.
Summary: Clean. Would likely have been a wonderful place if the temps weren't so high. Service was unacceptable. So now we celebrate our anniversary sleeping in the spare room at my mother-in-law's house. Yippee.

+1
I absolutely loved these little cottages! They were so charming and home-y. Sweetly decorated, comfy beds, very clean and nicely equipted. My gal pals and I, felt right at home, we rented Cottage #7 and we were pleasantly surprised, nice 2 bedrooms, with a little sunporch, picinic table and BBQ grill.
The location was also wonderful, overlooking Niantic Bay, nestled on the hill of Ropeferry Rd., just over the Niantic Bridge in Waterford, CT. Close to Restuarants; like Sunset Ribs and close to Main St. Niantic, Movie Theatre, and Beaches.
We also loved how nicely maintaned the grounds were, with flower boxes and manacured lawn. The staff, ( I beleive her name was "May") really made our stay top-notch! She was so helpful and welcoming - we really didn't want to leave.
I highly reccommend staying here. We were told that some of the cottages have fireplaces, but since our stay was in the Summer we didn't have much use for it, but it would be nice if it were during the cooler months.

My wife and two kids love vacations as much as I do. We have a small dog, so finding places that allow dogs is of top priority to us. Campview Motor Court is a collection of small cottages on a hill that overlooks Niantic harbor. The cabins have full kitchens, are clean, and simply furnished. The owner (May) is sweet and personable. The groundskeeper ( Mike) was a little quiet at first, but eventually warmed up and was very helpful. Although we don't fish, May's brother runs one of the best fishing charters in the area (there is a lot of competition), and we saw some pictures of unbelievable catches other guests had made. One of the first things that we did upon arrival, was to unplug the cable from the TV and tell our kids that the TV wasn't working ( sorry kids, it p'bly worked fine). We brought scooters and trackball and a Nerf football, a kite and playing cards. There is a giant slide and old school swingset, as well as badminton and horse shoes. There is an enormous lawn ( well kept by Mike) and comfortable chairs for reading. The cabins are near to Niantic, which is a small New England town that has a beautiful park and some nice small beaches. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, as well as a large number of used bookstores, and antique shops. There is a Dairy Queen, which competes with at least 3 other ice cream parlors. We went, planning to spend a night or two, and decided to stay for a whole week. We will return next year, and frankly can't wait.

Glad we found Camp View
Very unique property that you usually never see anymore.
not your typical motel but a collection of cottages of various sizes.
Ours had a patio a separate bedroom with twin bed ,a combo bedroom with a couch and a fully furnished little kitchen and little eating area.
It was very cool and perfect .
Other units are quite a bit bigger.
And we paid less for our stay then any of the other hotels in the area
What a bargain
And they allow pets
