I have been here a few times. I would never know about this place if I didn't see the movie. I love horror movies, and when I realized this was a real place 3 hours drive from me, I really wanted to check it out. Yes, it's OLD. 1891. That's what is intriguing to many, that old "Haunted Connecticut" feel.... More

I haven't been to a B&B in a long time, so Yankee Pedlar was a great option in downtown Torrington. The visit was nice, but ultimately an older quaint facility is not my cup of tea. I far prefer a more traditional hotel, but if you like a B&B, this one seems pretty good.

This amazing hotel is now closed for eight months for refurbishment. Having said that, I hope they keep the old world charm that was in abundance. It's quite a gem and I enjoyed every minute of it. The heating was broken, oh well, I got a little heater and got over it. The weather was just lovely during my stay... More

The hotel is an old style hotel very different than the usual chain hotel. It was clean and had a certain flair about it. The room was ample sized and the bathroom was old but clean. Nice. No complaints there. The only downside is the bed. I admit I do not sleep well away from home but the bed was... More

While this must have been the latest and greatest in 1880 when the hotel was built, much updating is needed to bring it up to modern standards. However, the price is right and it is quiet. The rooms were spacious, but the bathrooms just looked old and you can tell indoor plumbing was added well after original construction. Some of... More

This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Room was seedy and dirty. It was 39 degrees outside but the hotel refused to turn on the heat ( throughout the hotel). Air conditioner flap was torn so freezing air poured in all night. Front desk attendant just said nothing he could do. Would definitely avoid this place.

This hotel needs work. A lot of work. I understand from one of the employees they will be spending $2 mil. to fix the place up. That's what it needs. Our room which consisted of two rooms with a bath between was perfect for us and our daughter. It's front door could not be bolted (the bolt would not fit... More

My family and I stayed one night at this hotel. As we love the old hotel scenes, we were not overly concerned about the authentic old and non modern aspects of the the worn floors or building. We actually enjoyed the authentic feel of the place. The beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, we stayed in the two alleged... More

We booked this hotel because of its history. It's old musty smelling and a waste of money go elsewhere anywhere but do not stay there. Room key didn't work. Bathroom old and dirty. Bed lumpy pillows lumpy bedspread from the 60s. I was itchy just looking at it. Bottom line we left and stayed somewhere else.

We drove into the Litchfield area without planning ahead on a Saturday night. We were tired and there weren't many choices in hotels, so we booked a room at the Yankee Pedlar sight unseen. It was a real dump! While the lobby has some antique charm and the staff were pleasant and accommodating, the room was shabby and musty. The... More
