The Iron Horse has a great location in Simsbury. It is right on the main drag so if you stay there you can walk to a number of attractions without much effort. The management is very nice and the hotel is in a very safe area. I would stay there again the next time I come into town.

The Iron Horse Inn provided an uneventful night's stay. The Inn is clean and cared for, however it is old and give a 'dingy' impression. If you can understand this is an older building, you will appreciate the accommodations. The room was large with a queen bed, separate table with two chairs, refrigerator and sink, iron and ironing board and... More

We've stayed here 6 years in a row. It's not super-fancy, but it's perfect for us: large, clean, modern room with king bed at very reasonable price. Other observations: pleasant and accommodating staff, quiet, private, dressing alcove with extra sink and 2 large mirrors, plenty of towels (not plush, but crisply clean), medium sized fridge, microwave, iron and large board,... Spent one night here - enjoyed from start to finish. This is a 70's vintage hotel/motel with character. The wood construction gives it a natural, earthy feel. It's not a Holiday Inn kind of hotel. It has personality and warmth. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and perfectly working bath/shower. Rate was super for this part of CT. I... More

My husband and I traveled up from Maryland to Simsbury, Connecticut to visit with some very dear friends. Since Simsbury is not an inexpensive place to be, we could not resist $69 a night. Yes, the Ironhorse in is a bit outdated, however for our needs,it was the right price and the perfect location. All we need is a clean... More

The room was large, but musty and needs updating. The sheets seemed clean, but the mattress was springy. There was a hair in the basket containing the soap. A cleaning woman tried to enter the room shortly after we arrived. I should have hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign, but we had just checked in and the room should have... More

There aren't a lot of options in Simsbury, and anything else on the list was a considerable price hop, so I was happy to find this option. I really enjoy, and often prefer, staying at family run places with old-school style and great kitschy details, like seaside oils paintings or plastic flowers. The Iron Horse definitely delivered on this front:... More

To be honest, I didn't get beyond checking in. Upon arrival (at 10 pm at night), I noticed how poorly lit the parking lot was. Fortunately I wasn't traveling alone. If I was, I never would have gotten out of the car. Upon entry into the lobby I was reminded of one of those seedy places you'd take a hooker... More

We stayed here for a month and were very happy with this hotel. The owners are friendly and diligent in keeping this hotel clean and welcoming. The hotel itself is old and the furnishings are indeed from another era. Circa 1970's probably. But this is a clean hotel and it is also reasonably priced in comparison to what's available nearby.... The inn is old and run down, but sheets were clean. Not at all handicap accessible. Lots of stairs. Room was large with a small table for two. Microwave and small fridge. Kind of loud, no soundproofing. It was ok for one night, I guess.
