I was thru hiking the AT, spent 2 nights at Bearded. It`s one of the few hostel/BNB`s I would bring my wife to. Wonderful hosts, great meals, restful environment. The downstairs has a natural log bunkroom, a common area, showers and...a dartboard. Caution-don`t challenge Hudson to a game.

All of the 5-star comments of 2016 and 2018 and still valid as of June 2019. A wonderful three-night stay with congenial hiker savvy hosts at accommodations just a step below a bed and breakfast at a fraction of the cost. Combine that with the delightful interaction with other thru, section and slackpacking hikers, this place is the best! Shuttle service available from near and far to make you hikes even more enjoyable. Only open full time in the Spring, and Fri., Sat., Sun. thereafter through the Fall. Check them out on the internet.

This is an outstanding spot for AT hikers my husband stayed here on his way through CT on the AT - he couln't say enough about the property and the folks that own and run it. They understand hikers, their needs and they are just wonderful. Laundry, snacks, rides the works - just follow the rules and your stay will be a memorable one. So grateful - it was great to have a slack pack opportunity with good food and company!

Slackpack the Taconics or in from Kent, or just enjoy great hosts offering great food, in a custom built hiker hostel. Hudson has thruhiked twice, made a list of everything a hiker could want in a hostel, and created it. He built the place and even the furniture! Nice rooms, change of clothes available, laundry, excellent bathroom/shower facilities, hiker snacks, lounge area. Pickup and drop off at nearly trail points for free, longer shuttles at cost but it's worth it to be able to enjoy the Taconics with so little effort! Big Lu is a great cook, too. A wonderful respite.
