I had been to the Banjar valley over 25 year ago, starting from Rampur Bushahr and traveling across sparsely populated pine and deodar forests, crossing a desolate yet breathtaking 10,000 feet high Jalodi pass and climbing down to the virtually isolated tiny settlement of Banjar, in the process crossing over from Satluj valley to the Tirthan Valley, then known as Banjar valley. Now famous as Tirthan Valley, I approached it fr from the 8,000 feet high Narkanda, couple of hours' drive from Shimla. assured by the Google maps that my journey via Kumarsain, Jalodi Pass and Jibhi would take a mere four hours' drive. To my huge disappointment, the Jalodi Pass was virtually inundated with thousands of tourists in their fancy dresses and matching SUV's. Forget getting down from my vehicle, the legendary June tourist crowds made us locked inside our vehicle for couple of hours, once at Jalodi Pass and then at Jibhi. The dense coniferous forest of Jibhi was a cacophony of vehicles of all denominations held up in the jam. Once we hit the narrow village road from Banjar town we had the gurgling rapid of the Tirthan river cutting through the high mountains accompanying us to the River Walk Resort, one of the numerous homestays dotting both banks of the Tirthan river. The location is picture perfect, the four sides open wooden restaurant adjacent to the reception giving a panoramic view of the valley. The pears and walnut trees in the resort compound were laden with fruits, adding to the scenic beauty. The cottages are well laid out with adequate facilities. One can see the river cutting through the high mountains even while lying in the bed. There's a small balcony attached to each cottage and one can spend quality time with friends and family. Food was homely and fresh, and we spent hours at the restaurant, sipping tea and coffee. We wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately the resort was fully booked. We'll try the low tourist season of September October for our next visit there. I'd highly recommend this property for couples of all ages as well as families.

We stayed 04 nights during our vacation at Tirthan Valley. The room was very clean and comfortable. Drinking water, tea & coffee is available in the room. Very good breakfast. There is a nice cafe at the resort’s main entrance. The resort stuff is very professional and friendly. They helped us with everything. Even the resort manager came with to explain about our Mud Stone Riverside Cottage. There are also daily tours you can get from the travel desk with reasonable prices. The location is very good and it is close to main attractions.

We had an awesome time in Tirthan valley staying at The Riverwalk. The rooms are nice, they have all the basic comforts with nice beds. We stayed in the main building as well as the cottage for a total of 5 nights. They are right at the river, and you can hear the gushing waters all the time. The start point of Chhoie waterfall is a few minutes walk from here. The service is exceptional. The staff is friendly and treat you like family. We reached here after a 16 hour journey some time past midnight. The manager was not only available at that time to ensure we were comfortable, but also ensured we had a hot meal waiting for us. The staff was friendly, would make it a point to come chat with you, check on how your stay is going, etc. Breakfasts spread was good. The food menu is good, we enjoyed all the meals we had and they also made some fabulous grilled trout for us. The food service was exceptional, but I think I already mentioned that! They gave us a dongle for WiFi in our room which worked fine. Some small improvements are needed like better lighting inside the rooms, which I'm sure they will take care of soon. All in all, we had a very very pleasant time during our stay at the Riverwalk in Tirthan. Highly recommended.

Located bank of the most beautiful glacier river “The Tirthan river”. The resort is situated in the valley and surrounded by huge Himalayan range of mountains, trees with breathtaking natural beauty. The landscape of Riverwalk is an idyllic escape for those seeking tranquillity and adventure. The entrance of property is very easy, as their entrance is from road side and suitable for all age group of people. We stayed in their Riverside Mud Stone Cottage. Cottage was really beautiful with garden & river facing which made our stay more memorable and was like “Connected to the nature”. Their buffet Indian & continental breakfast was good, dinner was delicious too, specially “BBQ Trout Fish”. Overall our stay was pleasant and we recommend Riverwalk to other guests.

Undoubtedly, our stay at The Riverwalk, Tirthan Valley was exceptional, thanks to the impeccable service we received. We express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Shrish Gupta, the General Manager of the property, for his unwavering commitment to accommodating our every request, even during odd hours. Moreover, we must commend Chef Rohit for his remarkable culinary skills and humble demeanor in catering to our special requests during our stay. Without a doubt, this experience has been the epitome of hospitality, making it an unparalleled stay in every aspect.

As soon as I entered in the property, could sight beautiful free flowing river and could hear its sound. It was so freshening. They have independent cottages with beautiful verandah. There is a way to go to river and spend sometime there. With respect to other aspects of hotel, it was OK; Food was OK. Mobile signals are bad in the area. It seems there is wifi available at property, however we didn’t use it. The good part is that vehicle can go to the property and drop the luggage. They do have a parking available. Overall a good experience. Bit overpriced.

The riverwalk at Marchula is an awesome property to experience in a dense forest. Although a bit away from the many options on your way from Ramnagar to Marchula but once here you forget everything and just enjoy every moment of your stay right from crossing the suspension bridge, enjoying your meal across the beautiful river and off course the food cooked by the staff is a delight. Everyone in the property gives his best to every guest and you would want to continue for more days over here. Would definitely visit again🤗

It's a beautiful property, staff is very polite and this property is a perfect place to rejuvenate yourself. The location is so beautiful & peaceful. The rooms are nice & clean. Probably one of the nicest property visited. The view is amazing, the resort is huge & & lush green. Just one Suggestion, they can be little more flexible with the kitchen timings & orders. Also property staff is very helpfull with kids so people with toddler can have nice time too

We visited this place in the end of March. This is a peaceful riverside property. They have sufficient garden area for kids to play. One can sit on rocks and enjoy the sound of nature for hours. The food was average. Dear manager pl. serve different recipes other than aaloo. We stayed there for three days and we got Potato sandwich on day 1, Aaloo Paratha on day two and aaloo Puri on day three for breakfast. 😂 Bread omlette was the saviour there.
However, their services were very good and they have cooperative staff too. Loved the ambience there. A beautiful place for solo travelers, couple and family. ❤️
