I have never stayed at an Inn before. I was told by a friend to check it out so me and a couple girlfriends stayed their for a girls night out. What a beautiful place. We stayed in the Cottage suite. Its a two room suite with a king bed and pull out couch. The room was clean and cozy....

You ladies really know how to do a Girl's Getaway! 1, you book the Cottage. 2, you bring a bottle of wine. 3, you grab the Scrabble board off our game shelf. Then, after a nice dinner at one of our partner restaurants on the Village Green, you pour your wine, crack open the Scrabble game and gather round the...

My husband and I stayed at the Homestead Inn for the weekend. Renee and Bob couldn't have made our stay any better. The Sherman room was lovely and breakfast in the morning was delicious. We look forward to staying here again. Thank you Renee and Bob, even if you are a Redskins fan! Dina and Ed

Do you know what you have done? Eevery time a see a Patriots game I think of Ed pulling off two layers of Patriot gear and stopping (fortunately) at the third layer and then I wonder if he has his layers on for the current game! You two embodied the great time one can have at a B&B. Playing games...

Having lived in New Milford from 1972-1995 it was a wonderful to come back home to visit and stay at the Homestead. We highly enjoyed our stay. The warm environment and kind innkeepers made us feel at home while on vacation. The breakfasts were delicious and the newly renovated Inn was beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Monroe room and...

Eileen, you and Toby were a true joy to host. Thank you for staying with us, now that you have tried the Monroe Suite, the Kennedy Suite is waiting for you. That two person jetted tub will take away winter's chill so come back and see us and try it out. We do hope to see you again soon. Bob

I stayed at the Homestead Inn two weeks ago with friends, for a girls night getaway. We stayed in the Cottage House, it was beautifully decorated, roomy, and the fireplace made it feel cozy. The place is beautifully kept and clean! The Innkeepers,Bob & Renee were wonderful, they were attentive and hospitable during our stay. We'll definitely go back!

Thank you so much for your kind review. You three ladies were a joy to host and I hope your return visit will be soon. The Cottage is the perfect place for a Get-Away weekend. Plenty of room to spread out, two TV's for different viewing preferences and now that it is colder the gas fireplace not only looks good,...

Renee and Bob were wonderful - they were like family to us when we left. They are very personable, friendly and made sure all your needs were met. Went over and beyond our expectations. The rooms are wonderful - comfy, cozy, very clean and all the amenities you want.

Ann and Bob are wonderful as well. One of the great pleasures we have as Innkeepers is to meet wonderful people such as you. Thank you for the kind words and know that as "family" you are welcome back as often as you can come. With appreciation, Bob H.

The Homestead Inn is a delight. We were in New Milford visiting relatives nearby for Thanksgiving, and were lucky to get the last room available at the Inn! The main house is a beautiful old Victorian that has been highly modernized (wifi, great tvs, lush bedding) without losing any of its old beauty. The Homestead is a true B&B--breakfast only--although...

It was great to get away for a relaxing night in the beautiful town of New Milford, Connecticut. Walking out of the Homestead Inn and down into the town was like stepping right onto the set of Gilmore Girls. Friendly people all over town, including Bob and Renee, who were extremely polite and helpful. Looking forward to going back!

Thank you for such a kind review and you are right, our Village Green is like the Gilmore Girl's set. Also, who knew our Fall Foliage tour is almost exactly the same trail as seeing all the Gilmore Girl's sites! Just another reason to come back and visit with us again.

Thank you for the kind words. We try to be all about service here at the Homestead and it sounds like we managed to meet that expectation set for ourselves.

I apologize for not following up on some of the important observations you shared in your review, sooner. In deed, I was filling in as innkeeper for owners Bill & Sherry Greenman while you visited. Unfortunately, Bill never made it home from that trip as he passed away from cancer after a month-long stay in the hospital in Seattle, WA. I mention this for 2 reasons: 1) Bill had been very ill the past several years; apparently, more ill than he had let on, even to his wife. As he spent 3+ years regularly undergoing radiation, chemo and various surgeries, his stamina just wasn't the same and once the cancer metastasized to the brain effecting his vision, among many other things, his ability to keep up with the aesthetic maintenance of the Inn was definitely compromised. As Sherry spent all of her time caring for Bill and providing for guests as time allowed and as best she could, her ability to pay more attention to such things was also limited; 2) while Sherry will maintain ownership of the Homestead, she has hired me as full-time Innkeeper and I, in turn, have begun increasing our staff so as to be able to address many of the things you referenced in your review.

At present, we are diligently working to spruce up the Main House and the Treadwell Annex with newer flooring and draperies. Some new guestroom bath fixtures are anticipated in the near future. Our new gardener has been hard at work on our gardens for which we hope to add better seating come Spring. We have also hired a professional chef who we expect will make some great additions to our hearty continental breakfast, though we promise to always offer Bill's famous waffles and Sherry's raved about egg bake!

You are certainly not the first guest to point out that our typically Victorian staircase can pose a challenge for some. I am in the process of providing a major information overhaul of our website; this will be one of the many specifics addressed in our updated descriptions. Additionally, when taking reservations over the phone, this is now something we specifically mention to all guests.

As for being asked for payment at time of check-in, we are finding that this is becoming an increasingly common practice among small B&Bs such as ours. It didn't always used to be this way! We felt it necessary to make this policy change a few years back when we experienced an increasing number of instances where guests would leave their room key in their guest room and "sneak out" prior to breakfast, never having paid for their stay. I suppose another alternative would be to do what the big chain hotels do, which is to record guests's credit card information at time of check in and keep it on file. Personally, I'd rather not have my credit card info retained as such, indefinitely.

I am open to suggestions and of course, we're always willing to work with our guests individually to do what makes them most comfortable and ensures that when they leave us, they do indeed feel that the Homestead is one of the best B&Bs they've ever visited!

Again, I thank you for this constructive criticism. It is extremely useful in helping us move forward and plan for the future.

With gratitude,

Francesca Morrissey
