This was a fun, funky, eclectic place to stay. Location was great-close to all Mystic things and Foxwoods. Breakfast cooked by Robert was fantastic both mornings we were there. Even was a fountain of information. He knows all there is to know about attractions, restaurants, and directions. Both owners were warm and welcoming. The house was filled with interesting antiques, clocks,...

The caretakers are very hospitable. The house if overstuffed with interesting things to look at: antiques -- both original to the house and many others. The magazine collection alone can keep you indoors. Our room, The peach room on the first floor was fantastic. The antique Chinese carved bed was grand (requiring a step stool) and cozy (with a carved...

My girlfriend and I stayed at The House of 1833 for Valentine's weekend and could not have been more comfortable. This place is filled with history and old time charm and Evan and Robert made us feel very welcomed. While the house may have been built in 1833, the "Oak Room" was clean, comfortable and updated with modern amenities which...

We had the fortune to stay with the lovely hosts on Christmas day, the house was so fabulously decorated for the season, we were truly impressed. The house has a rich history, and is well kept. Our room is clean, comfortable and attended to remarkable details. The in-room Jacuzzi looks absolutely amazing. At night, we enjoyed the sherry by the...

Comfortable, quirky, private. Very interesting furnishings. Super clean and tidy. Unassuming hosts. Yummy and creative breakfast. Can't say anything bad about our stay there. Planning on coming again! Lots of privacy in a perfect room. Huge bed. We really enjoyed our stay!

My new husband and I decided to elope and picked the House of 1833 for our destination wedding after reading about it in an article called "12 Terrific Inns That Offer Elopement Packages for $1000 or Less". It is a magical place, was decorated beautifully for the Holidays, and Evan and Robert, the innkeepers, were absolutely wonderful. They couldn't do...

It's such a breath of fresh air driving up to the House of 1833! It's like coming home. As much as things change within the home, things also stay the same! A warm welcome, a tour, advice & suggestions for area attractions. The ambiance & pleasantries from Evan and Robert... We really consider this a home away from home. Another...

Evan and Robert are great hosts, fun family getaway. The food is excellent, the place has a ton of character and many things to do. The swimming pool is fun for the kids and inside there are plenty of games as well. Short trip to downtown Mystic, which is one of the underrated places in New England to visit.

We really enjoyed our visit to the 1833 house. Our hosts were very accommodating and just wonderful people. So many antiques in that house; just amazing! And a very short walk to the cider mill :) Will absolutely visit again. Thank you for a wonderful time

My husband and I stayed at The House of 1833 this past week. We booked at the last minute with under 2 hours notice, but when we arrived, Evan and Robert immediately greeted us and showed us to our room (the Cupola room) where they had gathered from our booking information that it was our anniversary! They had placed flowers,...
