My daughter and I dived with Villa Alba dive center and can't recommend them enough! They are very helpful and professional and very accommodating! And dealing with V who coordinated the dives was a dream. So easy to deal with and more than helpful! Without him, we would have certainly not being able to do all the dives we wanted! 😁 We have had great dives and can't wait to come back to Tulamben to dive with them 😊 thank you V and Alba!

It was time to leave my comfort zone and further my diving knowledge and experience. Consequently, I decided to do the TDI advanced Nitrox and deco procedures courses. After looking at options, Blue PO₂ Diving became my top choice, due to the experience of the instructor, Richard Devanney, and the great training facility at Villa Alba. Both courses were taught to a high standard. The training progressed at a good rate, and went beyond what is normally provided. Richard is a professional, organised, patient, and dedicated Instructor. He has an excellent knowledge of technical diving, diving physiology, physics, and equipment considerations, and consequently I learned a lot. The course was designed to encourage thinking, and good level of feedback and discussion happens at the end of each dive/day. This meant I learned why it certain aspects of technical diving are done in certain ways (e.g. gear/diving planning/techniques). We had lots of time diving and practising skills, so that I could get comfortable with the equipment, dive planning, and techniques. I would recommend him, and this training facility, to anyone who wants the best instruction, a high level of attention to detail and safety. Overall, it was a rewarding experience, the dives were great, and I look forward to coming back!

This is a resort designed for all levels of divers, including those interested in technical but also a nice place to hang out if your party is a mix of divers and non-divers. You can walk into the sea and go for a dive off the reef; its part of the local environment, rather than an artificial tourist enclave - you know you're not in Florida, which I prefer. It's been a while since I stayed in Bali and I'd forgotten Tulamben is a long way from the airport (90 minutes, two hours plus depending on traffic) so factor that in. As someone who lived in Asia for a long time, the food is really good - the resort is popular with Chinese divers so it has to be :). The owners live on site, which is the best way to ensure standards are maintained, wifi worked well (not always the case in Bali) and the rooms are good.

I went for training on key diving skills for my Raid Advanced 35 course. My instructor delivered with great advice to improve buoyancy and equipment skills, and I felt I really improved my abilities. I was ill on the first day but they were super flexible about it, and managed to get going on my course the day after. The equipment is top quality, with use of dive computer and backplate/wing style BC. I was filmed underwater so I could see exactly what I was doing. The resort was really relaxing and quiet, with a beautiful location next to the sea. Fully recommend Alba!

Did a dive course here. Location is perfect. Scuba facilities are first rate. Alex and Jessica are fantastic hosts and have set up a beautiful little piece of paradise catering to scuba divers. All the facilities you need for any type of open or closed circuit diving, several room options and amazing meals at fair prices. Would I go back again? In a heartbeat.

The Team at Villa Alba are excellent and have set up an exceptional facility for Technical Diving. Alex and his Team catered for our every need and the great atmosphere around the resort made our stay even better. Whether it is training or exploring you’ll find everything you need right out the front of the resort. I’ll be back!

We booked this resort 6 month before arrival, but when we came, they didn't have us in their system. Furthermore, they informed us that the 40$ per night rooms we had a confirmation on, were not even located at the same adress. We drove 2 km's and they showed us 'The pavillon ', located right at The mail Road, with small rooms and A joke for A pool. We declined and ended up paying twice The Price to stay at the part of the resort where all the photos you see online is from. Close to A hoax!

I'm writing this not so much about diving but to let all know the efforts which Villa Alba and its proprietor, Alex Ford, expended to accommodate clients in the face of a potential eruption of nearby Mt. Agung. Our group of five arrived at Villa Alba early afternoon on September 23, 2017 after some 30 hours flying from various cities in North America. Sleep-deprived, jet-lagged, we checked in, ate at the restaurant (which was great), toured the dive support and service facilities (extensive!), cooled off in the pool, trying to stay up and deal with our half-day time shift. A couple of hours after collapsing in bed, there comes a banging at the door: the threat level for Mt. Agung had been raised to its highest level and a mandatory evacuation was in effect immediately, grab passports, wallets and go. Alex assembled a convoy of cars and buses to get all clients out of Villa Alba, driving us to Amed, outside the evacuation area. Surreal, groups of evacuees beside the road, Alex going from hotel to hotel to find us rooms. Next day he's back: concerned that roads to Amed would be impassable in an eruption, took us back to Alba to pack our belongings and through personal contacts found us accommodations with friends in Sanur. He put us in touch with local dive operations so we could make alternate plans if we wished. None of this earned Alex a penny, he returned deposits of all cancelled reservations. He even retrieved odd items that we'd forgotten in the haste of departure, at the same time attending to the needs of his staff and arranging to move his extensive dive inventory out of the danger. I think his concern for his clients goes beyond the call of duty, what we saw of Villa Alba was phenomenal, we'll be back.

Beautiful property put together with love by Alex and Jessica Ford. The Ford's and staff went above and beyond when the evacuation alert for Mt Agung went out at 11:30pm the night we arrived. They found us a safe place to stay and helped us with our decision to find a different dive destination in Bali so we could continue our vacation. Glad that the alert was lifted and the wonderful owners and staff can return to give their guest a great stay, dining and diving experience. Will be returning soon

My wife and I stopped here to rent scuba gear and take a guided dive of the SS Liberty wreck. The dive site was absolutely incredible, but our experience diving with Villa Alba and with our dive guide was terrible. The equipment was a bit worn, but was in functioning shape, so we continued on with our journey. The English speaking divemaster we were promised did speak a little bit of english, but literally only spoke to us when spoken to, otherwise I think we would have gone through the entire experience without him speaking to us at all. We got no pre-dive talk of the site or what we would expierience/see, then once we got underwater, we were rushed through the dive with the occasional stop where our divemaster harrassed the wildlife. He also constantly brought us from 12-3m and back again a few times. Of my ~50 dives, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. IF you get the chance, dive the Liberty, but I wouldn't ever go back to Alba. To make things worse, they added some additional fees at the end which we were not told about at first. When I mentioned this, to make it seem "legitimate", they called the guy who had first quoted us the price who said "oh yes, I forgot to tell you we charge this additional fee". We were also quoted in USD, then told that we couldn't pay in USD, we had to pay in IDR, then gave us a terrible exchange rate. The couple in front of us in line seemed to have similar problems as they also argued substantially at checkout.
