Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Interlaken Inn. Staff was SO helpful and friendly! Needed a wheelchair accessible room with a roll-in shower, which was provided and actually WAS accessible and met our needs. (Handicapped guests may want to be aware that you must go outside to go from the room to the lobby, but ramps are adequate for both lobby and guest room, and the dining room is accessible via ramp from the lobby.) Had lunch in the Morgan dining room, and service and food were great. Certainly would stay here again. Location is VERY convenient to The Hotchkiss School.

Thank you for your kind words. I am terribly sorry the ramps must be accessed from the outside only. we are stilling working on trying to retrofit elevators into the current space and hope to have at least the first floor resolved before the end of the year. We appreciate you taking the time to let others know about your visit!

Had a very pleasant weekend stay at the Interlaken Inn. The wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower where we stayed (room 111) was well designed for a wheelchair user, and we were very comfortable. Although we did have to go outdoors, down a ramp, and up a different ramp to access the lobby and restaurant, the ramps were always usable, and cleared of snow, despite the fact that it snowed while we were there.
the staff were courteous and helpful, and understood our needs. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant (Morgans), where the food was delicious, and the service was excellent.
The location near The Hotchkiss School was especially convenient for us, and we will definitely plan to return.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I so appreciate you taking the time to let others know about your visit. I did notice that there was a slight rating difference for Sleep Quality and would love to know if there was something I could have done to make it better. I would also like to make sure that if it is special pillows, a softer mattress, whatever your needs are, I'd love to accommodate them in the future. Please let me know - you can either email me directly or via the reservations department. Thank you again for staying with us and we look forward to your next visit.

Took the kids for a weekend with another family to ski at nearby Mohawk Mountain. The service at this hotel is second to none. They had us in adjoining rooms without us asking, knock on the door shortly after we got there with free hot coco and cream puffs. front desk people couldn't have been nicer and specifically Wilson was SO accommodating. getting my kids muffins one day and asking how our day of skiing was, etc. Rooms are very clean and comfy and the restaurant is very nice. What a beautiful part of the state too.

I booked 3 rooms at the main building overlooking the pool for 2nights for about 2,000 For this price, I expected the game room to be opened, to receive fresh towels, cups, coffee etc. I placed the tag on my door early in the morning for maid service, left it there all day. No one attended...the carts were in the hallway, but nobody around.
The lake is nice, even has youth size kayaks, which my grandchildren enjoyed very much.
There was a $15 fee on my bill...when I called they told me it was for the crib. Really? A fee for a crib??
Looking back, I think I was more annoyed they didn’t tell me up front.

We loved getting out on the lake in the kayaks and canoes that were provided, and fun to swim. A quiet lake when we were there. Breakfasts for the price could have used an upgrade -- bakery scones would have been nice, instead of muffins little better than Entemann's and a somewhat mealy apple.

Thank you for visiting our property and for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry you did not enjoy the mini muffins that our kitchen prepares twice each week. Last winter we used banana nut bread and the year before we used scones. I think when this pandemic finally allows us to reopen our buffets we will offer all 3 to satisfy everyone. I hope we are all out of this soon! Thank you for your kind words and I hope you are able to visit again in the very near future. i

I organized our family reunion and chose Interlaken Inn because it had a variety of activities and accommodations for our family of 23 adults and 12 children (all under the age of 11). Some of us needed pet friendly rooms, and the families with children stayed in the Townhouse Suites & Basha Cottage since they had full kitchens & living rooms. The rest of our family took over Countryside, which has comfortable rooms (and one had a screened-in porch). We had originally planned for Memorial Day weekend of 2020, but then Covid hit, so Jodie Catalano, the Events Director, was very helpful with rescheduling to the last weekend in August, 2021. She even kept the room rate the same.

The swimming pool got a lot of use all weekend, as did the tennis court, and the canoes and kayaks down by the lake. On Friday night we had a family dinner which Jodie helped me plan. The meal was done through Morgan's the onsite restaurant, though we did have to get a celebration cake from offsite and have it delivered. The food was great and the wait staff was efficient and patient with so many children running around the private dining room.

The food throughout the weekend was really good at Morgan's, and even though there was a wedding going on the same weekend, we felt as if there was plenty of room for us to do all the activities we wanted.

Besides the activities onsite, there is plenty to do in the Northwest corner of Connecticut. I recommend Interlaken Inn enthusiastically, and we may even go back for our next reunion in 5 years!

I am always so appreciative when hotels are dog friendly, that I tend to overlook a lot of issues. That’s what this hotel is hoping for with their dog friendly rooms. For the price, I was expecting much more than the room we got— barely above a motel level. The sheets on the pullout for my daughter were filthy and unchanged from previous guests (and the cushions so saggy that you would never want to sit on it otherwise), the chairs outside were so stained from so many old dead bugs that no one would sit on them, and the whole room was musty and damp the entire time, no matter what we did. It smelled of mold and aggravated my asthma, clearly they need to overhaul the ventilation in that building. The “renovated” bathroom was clearly not new from the mold and mildew on the shower door.

We never saw a single person working anywhere in 4 days, after we checked in. The hotel has very few amenities that would make it a resort over a hotel, no place to get a snack or quick coffee in the morning, so you have to either drive somewhere or make a bad room coffee. The only redeeming factor for me was the lake, which was truly beautiful. We really enjoyed canoeing and kayaking, and the pool was nice enough. We had one dinner in the restaurant the first night which was fine but unmemorable, but it’s got a limited menu and not open every night so we didn’t go back. Overall, maybe the other rooms are nicer, but I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.

Thanks very much for taking the time to write a review. I certainly disagree with having limited on-property resort amenities – complimentary canoes and kayaks, lakefront and pool swimming, basketball, pickle ball, tennis, library, indoor game room are not typical of any hotel. I do agree with you that it is difficult to offer pet accommodations and an outside building away from all other Guests certainly taxes our ability to offer the same accommodations of the other seven buildings on property. The air conditioning and heating system is very adequate as long as the doors are kept closed but with the high ceilings it can be very difficult for the system to pull the humidity out of the air on certain days of the year. Most of June and early July have certainly had a very warm and humid climate and I’m so sorry that you had to experience that climate. Many days of the year our repeat pet followers love the Woodside house but your feedback has certainly opened up discussions on how to make these pet accommodations more desirable and user friendly. I appreciate your comments and I’d love to be able to reach out and speak to you directly; however, your anonymous critique and response so far past your visit is making it very difficult to contact you. I hope you read this and get the chance to call the property and speak to me directly.

This is an older property. I had a room for two nights on the back side of the main building. The bathroom was updated, and the bedroom functional and a good size with a king bed. The only downside was the poor lighting in the bedroom, which is typical for many hotel rooms. Continental breakfast (cold) was included Friday morning after my Thurs. night stay, but Sat. morning after Fri. night the cold continental was $8.00 and a full buffet, including scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon was $16.00. Nothing fancy but plenty to eat. Except for the breakfasts I did not eat at the hotel. Although self-styled as a "resort," it is not what you'd call an "upscale resort" by any means. The do have a pool and tennis courts and some basketball hoops. The staff are not falling all over themselves to make you feel welcome, but were friendly and helpful in answering questions. This is a very rural area and there do not appear to be many options if you want to be close to the Hotchkiss School, as I did. The rack rate on my room was $419 per night, but since someone else was footing the bill I don't know the actual cost.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let others know about your stay. The $419 rate that you were speaking about for a Main Building Room is only displayed as part of the CT Innkeeper's Law. This is to help our Guests understand and eliminates the possibility of overcharging a Guest. The rate for Hotchkiss School Graduation is considerably less than the posted rates on the back of the door. I'm sorry you didn't feel the staff was falling over you, typically that is the case and I'm sorry that was not your experience. We also have a beautiful lakefront with canoes and kayaks for Guests to enjoy - perhaps next time your schedule will allow you to relax and take in the peaceful environment. Congratulations on your Graduating student and I do hope you will get a chance to visit again soon.

I have stayed a the Interlaken Inn since the late seventies, many times while racing at Lime Rock. What used to be the gold standard in hotels for the area is now simply a very pathetic and sad ghost of its former self. The bar and restaurant which used to thrive are closed for all practical purposes. We arrived to a confused front desk that spent an inordinate amount of time to see if our room was ready. The room smelled foul and the entire place is in serious need of paint, refitting and a real cleaning. I've attached pictures! We left for dinner on Saturday night and returned to another ungodly smell of sewer gas permeating the halls and room which other reviews indicate is a long term issue. The next day the beds were never made, no fresh towels or in room coffee supplies given.I just spent the last few weeks in many various hotels while traveling and this was a first in not having the room cleaned on a daily daily. If it were a Motel 6 it might be acceptable but not in an inn that charges $607 for a two night stay! It's obvious by the amount of online reviews that there are more apologies from the owners and management than accolades, and many are repetitive. Given the condition of the facility, none are surprising. Despite needing only one nigh for a local class reunion, we had to book a two night minimum yet Sunday morning there were only about four cars in the entire parking lot and two if them were ours. The inn needs competent hotel management and very obviously a serious influx of capital for repairs. I will never stay there again until that happens....

Thank you very much for making me aware of the conditions during your stay. I am sorry that you feel we no longer meet the gold standard but I do think your comments do need some clarification. I do understand that you are upset about the two night minimum and I hope this didn’t add to the critique of our hotel. We were actually at 100% occupancy on Saturday night so you must be referring to an empty front lot on Monday morning. We had 35 rooms sold on Sunday night but most of our Guestrooms sold that night were in the Townhouse and Woodside section outside of the Main Building. You might be forgetting Interlaken only houses half of the occupancy in the Main Building and the other half in surrounding buildings with their own parking lots. I would not expect you to remember that since it’s been so long since your last visit. We have had an issue with all the water that has been displaced in our area and that has caused the foul smell through some parts of the Main building. I am told by the local township and our plumbers that this matter is being addressed as quickly as possible. I am so sorry it wasn’t addressed in a timely manner for your visit to our property. Our stay service is by request only as stated on the confirmation and reminders at the front desk. Back in the 70’s and 80’s our restaurant was open 7 days a week, but times do change and I currently offer a Food Truck daily at our lakefront for our Guests to enjoy. Our restaurant does remain open Fridays & Saturdays and every day for group events. The pandemic for three years has taken its toll on many restaurants and also the habits of diners. I would like to add that way back in the 70’s and 80’s we never had the state-of-the-art workout areas, spa services, movie theater, pickleball courts, lakefront cottage, and honeymoon suites. Just this morning, I spoke to a woman that has been staying here every summer for 45 years and she thought this year was one of her best stays. I do think it is unfair to pass judgment on visits that are decades apart, but I certainly hope to change your latest impression of Interlaken. I want to prove to you that we are still the gold standard for lodging. I hope that you contact me directly at 800-222-2909 if you have an upcoming special occasion to celebrate and would reconsider trying us again. I guarantee you won’t regret it. I work very hard not to take any criticism to heart as I know how hard we work at this property, but I do believe that your comments will help us improve.

On our most recent New Year's Celebration we were enticed by a special menu which included appetizer, entre and dessert in one price. This along with the ambience and a polite and professional staff." we weren't disappointed"Our server Richard was pleasant and very helpful. The entire meal was stupendous. We were also treated to live music as we dined away. This to us was truly remarkable that they were able to muster such an event during these different times. All in all we have Kudos for all who helped us ring in a New Year.It is obvious this establishment knows how to get it done regardless of these uncertain times. That being said we are very grateful to be a part of their world and ours. sincerely

The Interlaken side of the lake has 300 feet of grassy slope with odcks that go down to the water. You could also visit the Town Grove (for a small fee) which does have a sandy beach area.

Interlaken is a "Family friendly" property. Although very young children might not be appropriate for the adult New Years party I see no reason why teenagers should not enjoy the fun.
