Traveling with our 8-year-old Newfoundland Therapy Dog to pick up a puppy at a neighboring town we stayed here overnight. A small but quaint establishment where we were very comfortable and our Newfie was perfectly at home. The owner was delightful and steered us to a local restaurant in Lakeville. Lots of antique decorations and right across the street from Lime Rock Speedway. Convenient...you bet!

My husband & I and our puppy were traveling and needed a place to stay in the area. I grew up in Canaan. Our usual B & B in Canaan didn’t accept the dog so I started looking for something close. Next door to the track? You bet. I grew up with the track and haven’t been back in years. The B&B was very convenient as it was literally across the road from the track and you could easily walk there if you chose to. The accommodations were satisfactory but not the usual compared to other B&B's we have been in. The entire house was available for our use . The house was full of memorabilia from Lime Rock and all the history of sports car racing. Many of the owner’s things were where she left them as she also lives in this house. For us, after sterile hotels, it was a welcome break but I must admit it doesn’t fit the mold. We loved it and relaxed. The kitchen is open and ‘fix your own’. It is the only B & B we’ve ever stayed in that had, in addition to food, beer, wine and liquor in the kitchen. Besides the track it is a lovely area to stay in with many things to do. And bottom line…the price was modest and do-able. I would go back for sure.

First, let me say that I would go back to A Meadow House however read on...
The place is fairly priced but it is cramped and not as clean as I would have liked.
We thought we were getting a queen bed but it seems that the caretaker took the only room with a queen bed and the two of us were expected to sleep in a double bed. My husband ended up sleeping on the floor!
My biggest complaint is that there is STUFF everywhere. The only 'closet' in our room was already mostly full with someone else's clothing. We put all our stuff on a clothes tree. There was only one small surface in the kitchen that wasn't crowded with more stuff. In my world this is called 'Flats Disease' - if the surface is flat then it should be covered with stuff! :(
The location is great. They say the noise from Lime Rock Park won't bother you and they are right.
Both the caretaker and the cleaning woman was very nice.
Breakfast provided is self serve of continental type foods. Adequate.
There were some thoughtful touches like a weirdly stocked bar. Enjoyed a Southern Comfort watching the fireflies in the tall grass across the field.
It is a great part of the world to visit and A Meadow House won't break the bank.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay at my home base bed and breakfast. You did rent the room that had the double futon bed.... It had more floor space but if you wanted the queen bedroom, I certainly would have swapped out with you. The garment racks are provided for all the guests so there's no need to use the closets. The kitchen is crowded with every type of snack food you could possibly want as well as a complete array of all kinds of grab and go breakfast foods and as you said, an open bar.... Everything in the kitchen is open to the guests from soup to macaroni and cheese to making yourself a sandwich. Weird as it may be, the open bar does have a variety of cordials and many of the usual liquors..... Again, complimentary. This is an in-home bed and breakfast and I expect my guests to feel like they are family and make themselves entirely at home. I'm so glad that you did.

Awful, tired house that is overwhelmed with junk and tired furnishings.
Two cats roamed everywhere.
The bedroom was full of junk and had no space for my things. I had to leave my suitcase in the bed, or I would not have been able to walk on the floor.
The bathroom was cluttered with small soaps and items that previous guests had left.

Great to be across the street from Lime Rock Park! Interesting home full of authentic auto racing memorabilia. Very close to the Housatonic River and the Appalachian Trail. Very warm and inviting. Nice continental breakfast. Terrific backyard with hot tub, fire pit, and outside dining areas including a covered tent with a bar! Excellent value. Clean and very comfortable.

Brilliant location for anyone who is in the area for Lime Rock; the owner of Meadow House clearly has a love of racing, and lots of neat memorabilia is scattered around the house.
The bed was super comfortable and the room, while on the smaller side, was totally fine for a place to sleep before race day.
Worked out great for me and I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at A Meadow House B&B as we were traveling with British friends who were racing at LimeRock. The B&B was very convenient as it was literally across the road from the track and you could easily walk there if you chose to. The accommodations were satisfactory but not the usual compared to other B&B's we have patronized. The entire house was available for our use but it was very cluttered with the owner's stuff so it felt a bit awkward with little room for our own things. Breakfast was "help yourself" fare in the kitchen, generous with what was offered but once again not what we were used to. The rate was extremely fair given the difficulty of locating other accommodations so close by. The owner, who has a personal history with the track and racing being the daughter of John Fitch, was very cordial and even got us discounted entry tickets for some friends who joined us for one day at the track.

I'm glad you found my in-home bed and breakfast satisfactory for your needs. I tried to keep my rates at half the price or less than the local hotels and offer my guests to make themselves entirely at home while they stay in my home-based bed and breakfast. While I may lack some Elegance, I do try to make it up in a very friendly environment with an open kitchen that is completely stocked with anything a guest might want, that is open to guests 24/7 to help themselves to....snacks, beer and wine, a variety of coffees, juices, yogurts, cereals, protein bars, fruits... And even emergency food for folks who arrive hungry... like macaroni and cheese and soup and sandwiches..... All complimentary. I'm glad that your friends enjoyed the discounted tickets I was able to get for them, as race Day events can be very expensive. I know this is not a fancy bed and breakfast but it is a very warm, and welcoming one, and you had use of the entire house and could have spread your things about as you liked When you stay in my home, You are family. I do hope to host you again.
