Detailed Reviews
This was exactly what I was looking for when I booked my trip to a bed & breakfast in Connecticut! The house the rooms were absolutely charming. The entire staff at the bed & breakfast made me feel welcome.

The Inn at White Hollow Farm that I stayed at was in Lakeville or Lime Rock, CT not Lyme, CT, & I stayed there for a family reunion in Millerton, NY. I was traveling alone & stayed there for 2 nights. I knew that no one lived at the inn & got instructions about the key & separate kitchen. I picked up my key during the day in the designated area, but when I came back at night (in the dark), there was not one light on outside or inside downstairs, & it was pitch black. I had to use my cell phone light to get the key in the lock, & the whole experience was pretty spooky. The room & bath were lovely & clean, though freezing cold. There was no thermostat in the room, but the second night I found the thermostat in the kitchen & turned off the AC. The kitchen was clean, but the array of dead bugs were never wiped off the kitchen counter. There were bananas, juice, coffee, & breads for breakfast. Maid service was provided, but I declined it. For both nights I was the only person there, & it was a little disconcerting. It probably would have been just as disconcerting if other guests had been there without an innkeeper in residence. It's a lovely setting pretty much in the middle of no where, but probably not for the single woman traveling alone.

When I walked up the house, I could have sworn I was stepping into Anne of Green Gables! Lovely property. Clean and comfortable. Scenery is breathtaking. Innkeeper even went out of her way to have some gluten free food options in the kitchen for me. Much appreciated!

I actually stayed here several times in the course of business, sometimes alone and sometimes with my husband and stepson. Although it's advertised as a bed & breakfast, the innkeeper Carol was not on the premises. She left the key to the house taped to the front door and left us to figure everything out. She told us to use the full kitchen but asked that we try and clean up after ourselves as she just had "light" maid service. We did in fact cook that weekend. We put most dishes in the dishwasher, but the pasta pot wouldn't fit. We had bought our own dish soap because none was provided. I left the pasta pot soaking in sink. She charged my company $25 extra cleaning fee.
Our next stay, the previous guests had left dishes out. After waiting all day for someone to take care of them, it was time for us to cook dinner. My husband put all the dishes in the dishwasher, ran it, and put them all away. Carol came through when we were cooknig dinner. She mentioned that we should clean up after ourselves, because the maid would charge her extra if not and she would charge us extra. Needless to say, we were somewhat offended. Also, the same fruit was in the fridge as had been there the prior week, now to the point of moldy. There was spoiled cream as well. We threw both out. Additionally, we were in a different room, and the bed was AWFUL. It caved in the middle, and my husband and I were both full of aches and pains and didn't sleep well.
About a week later, I received a call from someone at corporate headquarters of my company. She said that Carol had called them and complained about us leaving dishes out and leaving "smelly fish" that was disrupting all the other guests.
I called her and explained that we had not cooked fish that weekend, but chicken. She was very adamant that we should not have left the refridgerator smelling like that and that she still couldn't get the smell out. She was quite rude.
Unfortunately, I was booked to stay there the upcoming weekend, and when my company tried to cancel the reservation she said she would charge in full as it was less than 2 weeks notice (although I don't believe this policy was posted anywhere).
When I arrived that Friday night, I couldnt' get the key to work in the door. I called the office number and got the answering machine, which says "you can try my cell phone #". I called her cell phone and left a message. I was going to sit and wait for her to call back on the porch, but the furniture was so dirty I wouldn't let a dog sit on it. After about 20 minutes I left and found a friend to stay with.
The next day I was at work and the receptionist called to say someone was there to get a key. Carol had just shown up at my job to ask for the key back! Unbelievable! I told her I had left it in the plastic cubby by the door.
She was rude and very unbusinesslike. I never once signed anything or saw a receipt. The house is beautiful, but the owner's demeanor makes this Inn a definite NO.

We stayed 2 nights. Everything was very clean. Our rooms were very nice in terms of size, furnishings, and bedding. The common area is a full kitchen and small living room. There were 4 bedrooms. Plenty of small items that made it special such as fresh flowers, toiletries. The breakfast was self-serve. There were homemade muffins and croissants plus cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt plus eggs if you wanted to cook. Plenty of juice and bottled water. Kelly, the host, was very nice and accommodating, but she covers numerous properties and is not there full time. There are no TVs in the bedrooms. All rooms are on the second floor and not handicapped accessible.

My wife and I have been staying at this Inn for over 8 years. It has always been nice but now it is over the top. Gorgeous decorated rooms in a Currier and Ives setting. We enjoy the rocking chairs on the porch, walking the beautiful property, lots of quaint shops in the nearby villages, restaurants 5-10 min. away and muffins to die for. We found the new Innkeeper Kelly to be super accommodating. Highly recommend it.

My stay at The Inn at White Hollow Farms, was quiet and relaxing. The room was quaint and extremely well kept, the bathroom was very spacious and very clean as well. All bed and bath linens smelled fresh and clean.
Mary, the Inn keeper whom I spoke to only over the phone was very gracious as well as polite. I very much enjoyed my stay at The Inn at White Hollow Farms and will definitely stay again when ivisit the area.
