So, what we usually do is try and find a hotel "within reason", something we could afford. We have stayed at different places when we were lucky enough to get a good price but, it usually makes a difference as to what is going on at that time. The two Last hotels that I have called, and ONLY because we were desperate, were the Flagship and the Windsor, which is located about 10 miles from the casino. We use to drive home, at one time, but, we found that so tiring, we almost had an accident by almost falling asleep, so, we would never do that again.
As I said, we were desperate. I swore I would NEVER, EVER, EVER go to the Flagship again. I did a rating on this hotel before and I think it would be cleaner to sleep in the woods.
Most of the hotels were too high for us, so, out of desperation, I called the Windsor Motel. A guy answered and I had called this past Friday and told him I would be there on Saturday. Most of the time they never even took my charge card; just always said there would be plenty of rooms open. I sort of figured that because most of the time we did go there, there may have been no cars to up to two there and one of them was probably the ones working there. Anyone who knew the hotel probably would never have gone there again. As bad as it was, I found the Flagship worse!
It took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there. When we got there, not a soul was in sight. I knocked, rang the bell, stood at the front door and actually called from my cell phone. I could easily hear the phone ring, but, no one would pick up and there was no answering machine. I was sooooooo angry at that point and I was panicking because we had no place to stay. We couldn't drive home because we find it too tiring and to go all that way and try and go home? That wasn't going to happen. We are Senior Citizens, me going on 70 and my fiance is 81, so, it is harder for us then if we were 30 years old. We hung around for about a half hour, no one came. We actually saw a guy pushing a shopping cart with a bag of "something" in the bag, don't know what and he also had a child around 4 years old with him. We went over to him and asked him if he saw the Manger at all. He said a guy was there early that morning but, he hadn't seen anyone since then.
We hung around for a while but, then decided that we had to find some place to sleep. A lot of hotels were filled and a few were too high for us to pay, so, we had NO choice and went over to the Flagship, which I swore I would NEVER go there again. But, we had NO choice and I went in and took a room, the SAME room I had the last time!!! But, then, I figured, maybe if they saw my rating, just "maybe", they might have "cleaned it up" and "fixed a couple of things".
When we went in, it was the same as before. I guess they could care less as to what people write about them and how bad their rooms are. We also paid almost "triple" to what we were suppose to get in the other hotel, but, it was there or sleeping in the car.
I bit my tongue, we put our suitcase in the room, then left right away. I wouldn't even take my clothes out of my suitcase at all. We just wanted a bed to sleep on when we got back.
We left and went back to the other hotel just to see if anyone had showed up yet, but, there was no one in sight so we headed to the casino. We usually only stay for a couple of hours and then go back to the hotel and watch TV, but, since we were staying at the Flagship, we really didn't want to go back that early but, we did get back around midnight. We always get two beds no matter where we go; it's much more comfortable. We got changed and just wanted to get in bed and get some sleep. My bed was "passible" but, my fiance's bed was not. He tried sleeping but, said the mattress felt wet, damp, etc. He thought maybe they put sheets on that weren't dry yet, but, nothing would have surprised us. At this point, we were both angrier then ever but, we had to make the night. Nothing had changed there. The door to the bathroom was "rotted off" on the bottom. It took a lot to try and flush the toilet. They had a small coffee pot there but, left no coffee, just a package of hard cremora which had to be a year old. The refrigerator was really noisy but, we really didn't want to pull the plug out because it was "mickey moused wired" to the TV and Microwave. It was an easy target for a fire. They left one little piece of soap to take a shower with. Luckily, I bring my own when I go to places like this. I only got a few stations on the TV and the picture wasn't good at all. We had to listen to the bimboes above us who didn't get in until late and as they were walking above us, it sounded like they were 500 lbs. Needless to say, we really tried to sleep but, it wasn't going to work, so, we agreed to just go in our car, put the seats back and sleep there instead. When we woke up the next morning, we just went into the room, got our things and left. We did stop at the office to bring the key back and we figured we would at least have a bagle or toast and coffee before we left. There is no place to sit there; you have to take it with you. Well, when we went inside, the only thing that was there was coffee, nothing else. I rang the bell (since no one is at the desk most of the time) and a girl came out. I asked where was the "Continental Breakfast" we were suppose to get and what I paid for. She said, "well, I guess everyone took what we had", nothing is left.
I tell you, I beg you, I warn you!!!!! NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT STAY AT THE FLAGSHIP HOTEL, EVER, EVER, EVER. People come from all over, they figure they get a cheaper price and they stay but, it usually is a one night stand; I don't think many come back a second time.
As far as the Windsor Motel goes, which is right near the Flagship, I have stayed there in the past because it was cheaper but, it was always quiet and that was because no one would stay there so I didn't have to deal with "neighbors" banging on the door at 3 in the morning. The funny thing about it is that it actually is better then the Flagship, but, not much more, but, you can at least sleep there. Whenever we went there before, I knew I had to bring my own soap/shampoo, etc. No coffee pot and usually cold showers.
The next morning after we left the Flagship, we took a ride to the Windsor again and again, no one was there. When I got home, I called and called and called. At this point, I though I would give the benefit of a doubt and make sure nothing was wrong so I called the Police Station and had them go over and check out the place. I was wondering if maybe something bad happened, but, as it turned out, nothing bad happened to them. Apparantally, it is under other Management or something. When I got home, I called and called and called and finally someone answered. I told him that it was inexcuseable that he left us "hanging", left us with no place to go, etc. He knew I was very angry. He said "sorry a couple of times and that was it.
I told him I wanted the name and address of the one in charge, the Manger or who owns that place. I wanted to write a letter and I actually have thought about taking the creep to court. At the VERY LEAST, I feel these people should pick up the tab of what I had to pay to the other hotel. I told the guy when I talked to him. He refused to give me a name or address but, he said he would take mine and have someone call me back, that he wouldn't be calling the next day, but, would call the day after. I am not surprised. I got NO PHONE CALL BACK! I just want people to be aware of this place. DON'T GO THERE!!!! SLEEP IN YOUR CAR IF YOU HAVE TO!!!! I just wish we could find a place to go when we go out that way. We don't look for fancy or perfect or a lot of anything. All we want is to come back from the casino, watch a little TV, have a bed to sleep in and take a quick shower the next morning and we would be gone. I don't know what I will do now, but, I will persue this. These people cannot get away with what they did and I just want to be "compted" for the other place we had to stay but, ended up sleeping in our car but, paying for another hotel bill. THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!
People, BE AWARE OF THIS!!!!
