Detailed Reviews
First time. Spent 5 years on active duty and 4 in the reserves and never stayed at a Navy Lodge before. First time in CT visiting my son, who's finishing A School in Groton.
Very welcoming structure (of that makes any sense). The front desk staff was very polite and professional. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and functional. The kitchen is small, but there's a functioning kitchen should you need one.
The outside grounds are clean and pretty. Loving the view from my room, but mainly that's because I'm a geek who hadn't experienced real autumn in 20-something years (we live in the South).
My only thing is that they didn't advise if there was free Wi-Fi and I don't see anything to indicate there is any Wi-Fi at all.

Grateful to the navy lodge! Very clean, quiet and a private location with friendly staff, and nothing can beat the price.
I’ve read many reviews about people having to wait more than 10 minutes for someone to help him at the front desk. To be honest Id wait over a half an hour for someone to come in. I’d be totally fine with it because I can’t name one other hotel in the area or God for bid in the United States that offers a room (a decent room too) for $99 a night.
Thank you navy lodge Groton. We shall see you soon.

Great value for the amenities and quality of service we received. Every year in July we head up to Cape Cod and always book a room going to our destination and coming home at the Navy Lodge New London. The management team's dedication ensured our needs were well taken care of. Our room was spacious, comfortable beds, clean, equipped with all the necessities for a traveler. The lodge is centrally located and convenient to many attractions. Check-in was smooth, check-out was a breeze.

Check in was very disappointing. I showed up around 1pm to check in. I stood at the Front Desk for over 10 minutes until the Front Desk lady walked up to check me in. I believe her name was Germia. I saw her listening to something on her phone until she noticed I was there. It is bad when I can see the Front Desk associate but they aren’t paying attention and can’t see me. I recommend getting a bell or something for people to ring to let Front Desk know someone is there.

What exactly has happened to this place? Have things really degraded in this country that the government cannot upkeep a simple facility for military families? We usually spend a week at the New London Navy Lodge, however, we only stayed 3 nights this time around. The grounds were severely unkept! It appeared the grass had not been cut for at least a week. The interior needs an overhaul. That being said, there is no excuse for not keeping it clean. The hallway rugs needed severe shampooing, much less removal! Each room needs a complete overhaul and sanitizing. Perhaps a visit and STAY from our high ranking personnel would do the trick.

We have stayed in many Navy Lodges, and this one is the WORST. First, it was extremely warm. The AC in the room barely works. Our room smelled so awful. I mean terrible. The sheets smelled, too. And the bathroom was dirty and dusty. The laundry smelled like really bad mold/must.
I understand that it is an older facility, but there is no excuse for how dirty and smelly it is there. Even the bathroom off the lobby was dirty. The toilets were gross. Check the sides of toilets. Poor management to allow that kind of condition.
We will never return to Navy Lodge New London. It would have been worth the extra money to stay in a civilian hotel.

I made my reservation 3 weeks prior. The older desk clerk gentleman was very rude to me and my family. Thursday February 23rd plan a stay so we could attend my son graduation. The desk clerk wouldn’t confirm our reservation cause my son was not with us. He was on duty and couldn’t leave the base. The desk clerk called his boss and said we have another one of them”. (The eye roll was the last straw). That is when I said we will go find another place to spend the weekend. I am not military and my son is the first ever to be in the military. I understand that there are rules and procedures but don’t be rude about it.

We were on vacation to attend a wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were a great side and the kitchenette well supplied. The location was so convenient to the places we needed to go. Looking forward to our next vacation to the area.

A military child is stressed enough during a PCS move, let alone sleeping in new places every night. Sorry my child cries, I do my best by myself, cut me some slack when my baby has been crying for an hour, don't think I don't want him to stop. Offer me help instead of threading to kick me out.

Hi Mark,
As long as you have a valid military ID or valid retired ID you can stay with Navy Lodge. If you don't have one of these, your son who is attending the USCGA can sponsor you to stay with us. He would have to be present at check-in with you to rent your room. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us at 860-446-3119.
Thank you for your interest in stay at Navy Lodge New London.
