Detailed Reviews
My husband and I just spent the weekend. We needed a spur of the moment get away and it was just perfect. We were welcomed by the owner Sue Sweetapple and she couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. The room decor was in New England Country style and comfortable. We had dinner in the tap room. We started with tasty cocktails and had ordered the duck breast and the chicken respectively. Dinner was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly. I'm still dreaming about the chocolate creme brûlée for dessert. Highly recommend both the accommodations and the food.

Room Tip: Make a dinner reservation because it gets crowded on a Saturday night even in the off season.

We did not stay there because we didn’t know about it, but we were directed to go there for dinner. It was absolutely delicious, perfect ambience, outstanding service, and the most gracious proprietors I have ever encountered. We ate AT section hikers, and the people at Falls Village Inn set a new standard for “trail magic.” Highest recommendation.

We stopped in for dinner on a Monday night after playing golf in the Berkshires. A nice old style in with a great bar. New outdoor patio was very busy for a Monday night. Great place if you’re out in the North West corner of Ct. This restaurant is very close to the lime rock race track

STOP RIGHT NOW!! Do NOT book a room here. We recently hosted a wedding at Lion Rock and we had guests booked at Falls Village Inn. We had multiple guests canceled the week of the wedding and up until the day before the wedding! No explanation. NOTHING!! We stopped by there to discuss this atrocious situation and as it turns out, the inn is being run as a drug rehabilitation facility. While that is laudable, why are they still taking reservations from the general public. And then strand people, leaving them with few last minute options.
Do NOT book at this place! By the way, it was in dismal repair when we stopped by!!
Shame on Susan Sweetwater, the owner for putting unsuspecting visitors to the area in an awful position.

We found this great little BnB to spend an evening away from home. The room itself was really nice. They had put us up in the Yellow Room. The bed was plenty comfortable, a good shower, and everything was really clean.
We were told that a continental breakfast was included, and brunch was available if we wanted to wait till 11. This was where I thought they fell down. We walked into the breakfast room to find that our continental options were... A blueberry muffin and some dry cereal. There was coffee and juice. And then that was it. Now I'm not a picky eater or very particular, but for the price of the stay, I thought this was short shrift. I've stayed in lots of nice inns like this, and they seemed able to include a yogurt, some different juices, etc.
There are a number of inns in this area, and the Falls Village Inn is a nice spot among them. Let me suggest they up their breakfast offerings and then you've got a stellar place.

My sister-in-law and I decided to stay a extra night in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut to make our trip easier and try the Falls Village Inn on Sunday, the 15th of May. We had spent two nights at the Sharon Country Inn ( very nice) while we did the Trade Secrets weekend and garden tour of several beautiful estate gardens in the area.
Late on Sunday we arrived at the Falls Village Inn, an historical building in Falls Village. The innkeeper, Susan Sweetapple, was very pleasant and gracious. We settled into our room and had an early dinner in the Inn restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Our dinner of fish and chips was good, not exceptional. Our appetite of lobster wontons had only a hint of lobster.
Our bed was very comfortable and our room, which was purported to have been designed by Bunny Williams, was only passable. The furnishings were poor and the bathroom had dingy, if not dirty towels. The tissue box had four tissues. When we woke up the next morning, we found that the free continental breakfast publicized on the website was non existent. No one was downstairs. We cleaned up as well as we could with dirty towels and left to find a cup of coffee elsewhere. When I called later I was told that there was only a breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Too bad the website said nothing about that. An unfortunate stay for a non trivial cost. Not impressed. Don't go to the Falls Village Inn.

We met both Sue and Joy during our one night stay and dining at this recently renovated inn. They both have a great sense of hospitality and locals talk highly of them and the impact they try to make on the local community to revive the town and area.
The inn has spacious bed rooms upstairs each with a private full bathroom. The decoration is charming. Each room has a theme color. All equipment is fully functional and in great condition. The king bed was soft and provided for a good night of sleep in this quiet town.
We hiked through town on the Appalachian Trail and the Inn beats a tent by far.
Downstairs has an open porch with chairs, (screened in?) veranda seating for outside dining, a tap room, a dining parlor and main dining room.
Classic American comfort fare with a good tough of Italian. Tuesday night was paella night and we finished the pan for two with delight. The Ecuadorian cook uses local farm ingredients and seems familiar with many tastes. The servings are generous and presented nicely.
While the inn is closed on Wednesday, joy made us breakfast and the chef made us custom tasty sandwiches for on the trail. This saved us a trip to the general store and demonstrates the heart the inn keepers are putting in this place.

If you like brown paper bag table coverings, this is the place for you. They serve overly spiced grocery store crackers/flatbread instead of a nice warm bread. This goes well with the brown paper bag table coverings. If you prefer a very plain dinning room with no atmosphere, you might like the Falls Village Inn Restaurant. I found the food and the service to be mediocre.
There are better places to dine.

It is a cozy little inn in a beautiful town south of Cannan. Each room is nicely decorated, it makes feel you at home. Old style but with all the modern conveniences. The lady who welcome us was very friendly. We had dinner in the hotel that night, food was excellent and reasonably priced. No breakfast however.

This was my second visit to the wonderfully friendly Falls Village Inn, it really is such a lovely warm place to visit, Sue the owner is fantastic as are all of the staff here, The rooms are beautifully designed and so comfortable. I ate in the restaurant on both occasions and the food was great , this place really is what old school hospitality is all about, I love it here and can't wait to go back.
