We stayed here very recently for Newbury Races and the location was perfect it was so easy to get to and a taxi was £40 return. With regards to the bedroom, the bed was comfy and was made each morning we were there and the towels changed each day however the room could have done with a good clean. On...

We stayed at the Five Bells last weekend and stayed on the Saturday evening. We were allocated room 1 which has the shower and stand alone bath in the room. Very nice for a couples weekend away! The room was tastefully decorated, and located on the ground floor. The pub is really pretty with a thatched roof and very authentic...

We had a great stay here and felt thoroughly welcome by all of the staff. The room was great (be aware that the bathroom is open plan (separate toilet)). We loved our meal and the choice of drinks available. We'll be back. Breakfast was also enjoyable.

We use 5 bells fairly regularly - the real ales are superb though the lagers are quite limited. the staff are really helpful and pleasantly laid back. though attentive. The menu's are good but as veggies are a little limited. The furniture needs a bit of an upgrade though the log fir is to die for. I don't want to...

My wife booked us in here as a present as she saw the pub in CAMRA good pub guide. It certainly lives up to its billing there, as this is a great pub, with lots of real ales, including some brewed on the premises, and a fine selection of Belgian beers in bottles. We had a very pleasant dinner, which...

Met some friends for supper on Friday, didn't book but they managed to fix us a table for 5, reasonable wine list, nice Malbec! Staff very friendly and helpful, selection of daily specials, good fairly typical pub grub, nothing fancy but reasonable prices. The pub is big on real ales, CAMRA listed apparently, lots of low beams and timbers, large...

The atmosphere was fantastic, very good ale and company. The Landlord's daughter made sure I received a very warm welcome;) The morning after breakfast was amazing, plenty of food to make sure I kept my strength up for my liaison with the young lady later.

It seems tripadvisor are happy with this review, sums up a lot of what is wrong with this review. Although more about this ridiculous reviewer. What a sick, sad, lonely individual you must be to have to make up this sort of nonsense as some form of entertainment for yourself.

Our first visit was not as great as expected. We heard they won pub of the year, and thought it would be nice to go for lunch. The girl behind the bar was not helpful and made us feel unwelcome. Our waiter, the NZ guy, was very friendly. Food was okay but not great.

What I have always liked about this place is it's proximity to my office (and the M4 J14), its cute chocolate box appearance and most important of all; the great choice of well kept real ales. This time, instead of just an after work wind down, I find myself eating and staying here. The staff were very friendly, the food...

Some while ago I gave this pub a very mixed food review and in response the owners claimed I had never been there! Tonight we had a power outage and, unable to cook, decided to give it a second chance. We ordered only three dishes: The wild mushrooms in the bruschetta were too tough to eat; the fish pie was...
