If hotels received rewards for being mediocre, the Ptarmigan Inn would win. Other than nice lobby staff and a few nice waitresses at the Snowbird Inn, The Ptarmigan Inn reeked of average-averageness (you see, I can even make up a word about how mediocre this place was). I came here on a trip with my husband – as part of... More

Location just can't be beat and great service. Every patron seemed to be having a great time, but I thought I was caught in the 70's. There hasn't been an update to a single piece of furniture in at least 30 years. But at least they keep everything as clean and you are right on the slopes. I would definitely... More

This place is not fancy by any means but is right on the mountain, has a wonderful staff and a great little bar/restaurant. The chili is amazing!

Ski in-ski out, right on the slopes. This place was a great value. Not too expensive, but wasn't a five star hotel. The people working the front desk were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms weren't luxurious, but they were comfortable. Heated Hot tub/pool was a great bonus!

We (two "young" seniors) spent a week a Ptarmigan Inn this month. I really can't fault it. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, while the barman (John) produced a meal from the restaurant on the first night when we arrived late, even though it was closed. No fuss, just good service. Breakfast was great with good service from 7.00... More

We have skied Steambot well over 20 years and stayed in many locations. For the last seven years we have stayed at Ptarmigan Inn. You will NOT find a nicer staff who honestly care about your experience and pay attention to every detail. The entire property is very clean and well maintained. It is about 20 feet from the slope,... More

We (two middle aged adults and a 12 yo daughter) just got back from Steamboat and were very happy with the Ptarmigan. This was our first real trip out west skiing and wanted a relatively cheap place convenient to the slopes. Mission accomplished. The decor is mid 70's but everything is clean. It's the basic 2 double bed, chain motel... More

We got a good deal here but after reading a bunch of online reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. Some people loved this place, others hated it. But, after seeing it for myself, I have to say it was great! Yes, the decor is a bit out of date, but our room was spacious, the pool was heated, it... More

I stayed at Ptarmagin in March 2009. It is directly on the slope just up hill from the gondola- true ski in ski out. Fabulous location. It is unpretentious and has the intimate feel of a small hotel with all amenities you need. Decor is dated but room is clean. On night of arrival, I was exhausted. Despite the late... More

We stayed in a king size suite. The room was dated as are the rest of the resort. There was a VCR player attached to the TV and VCR tapes for rent in a mchine in the lobby. All of the tapes were very old titles. The room did have everything we needed, but it was shoe horned in the... More
