This is a clean and tastefully decorated lodge with beautiful grounds located along the Crystal River. The duplex rooms allow plenty of access between buildings to the rear yard and amenities such as the pavilion with hot tub. I had room #3, which is quite spacious with a small kitchenette. Best feature of all is the bedding—comfy plush mattress with cozy warm comforter. The cozy part was a good thing because I did not have heat with temps dipping to freezing. The radiator-style portable heater (I was told after the fact) takes about 10 minutes to heat up. When the light came on but went back off as you turned the dial towards high, I assumed no light, no power, so I kept it within the limits of the light being on…lowest setting. Could not feel any warmth in the few minutes of fiddling with it. Had there been a sign placed next to the heater with an explanation of how it works, it would have made for a much more comfortable night. While the sink in the bath is only a wall hung lav, there is plenty of storage with the built-in shelving. However, after a cold night, a nice hot shower wasn’t in store for me. Turning the faucet half-way, and then all the way to the left, I got only cold water. Again, after the fact, I was told the hot/cold water lines are reversed, so the hot feed would be to the right. A sign or decals over the faucet showing this would have been nice. I would recommend this lodge as a comfortable place to stay so long as you look for a laminated sheet with the owners individual cell numbers so you can contact them with any questions. I didn’t see the sheet when I settled in at 9pm. (Perhaps the 'laminated sheet' needs to be attached to the wall facing the door as you come in.) I used the number that I had on my phone from making the reservation, but that was the office phone which is manned only during the day and doesn’t forward calls. I traveled with two other parties and they had some differences in equipment, so each room is unique. One room had a different heater altogether. The other room had the same radiator-style heater as my room, but no light came on at all, so they just turned it to high, waited, and hoped. Loved the place, but by simply posting an instruction/explanation sheet beside the heater and putting decals above the shower faucet indicating that the hot and cold are reversed would have avoided some major discomforts.…
We stayed for a weekend. The room was comfortable and appointed with everything you'd expect. Beyond that, however, there is a charm and warmth that you can't quite put your finger on. We spent a lovely hour relaxing on the swing in the back overlooking the river, while our neighbors on one side waded and the neighbors on the other side set up a little fire in the fire pit. For a good hour or so we chatted with Andrea and Bruce, who are attentive and low-key hosts. Andrea dies wool yarn and helps run the artists' shop on the grounds, and both were friendly without being intrusive. They're right next door to Propaganda Pie, which made for a super chill Saturday evening. As we were packing to leave, I went to say goodbye to Bruce, and he asked if we'd seen the late-night visitor. Turned out there was a black bear who tried perching in the teeny apple tree at the corner of the office--and then fell out, lumbered around the lot, and left. SO much nature to be enjoyed! Can't wait to come back to stay with them again.…
We stayed at Redstone Cliffs Lodge August 27-29, 2021 during a trip to Crystal and the Crystal River Mill. We were very pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room which included a full living room area, a stocked kitchenette, bedroom and full bathroom. The room also backed to the Crystal River which was an awesome addition to an already great room. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to make Redstone a regular stopping point.
We were doing work in Redstone & needed to book rooms for our crew. I came a crossed Redstone Cliffs Lodge & boy am I glad we did!! They were able to accommodate us on short notice. The rooms were clean & spacious. A the staff was very friendly & welcoming! The crew was raving about it upon their return! Beautiful setting as well!!!
My son and I stayed one night after staying a week in a cabin in Marble. This place was so clean and "homey"! We wished we had been here the entire time; there was no comparison on how different the experience was. At the other place, we felt like we were trespassers and it was all about what we could do for the cabin owners whereas here, it was all about what they could do for us! Refreshing! Peaceful! Beautiful! THANK YOU BRUCE & ANDREA!!!
I just had a very nice stay at the Redstone Cliffs Lodge. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. At night when it got a little chilly, the heat warmed up the room fast. There were no problems, and check-in was very smooth, so I didn't have to have much contact with the staff, but the person I did have contact with was very friendly. Internet connectivity up in the mountains can be a crapshoot, but the hotel's WiFi was good enough. There's a nice backyard with plenty of seats so you can watch the river and chill. I didn't use the hot tub, but they have that, too. It appeared to be open and working. A bonus is that the pizza place right next door is really good.
Bruce and Andrea were so hospitable on our visit and accommodated our 3 dogs in the dedicated room for pups. We loved the area the pizza next door was excellent and Carbondale is a cute community - the coke ovens were inspirational to my model railroad - best of luck and hope to visit again - it was great to see a New England transplant in Colorado and I hope you all are still doing well - go Red Sox and go BC!
We are leaving this morning after spending 2 glorious days in Redstone. Definitely a throw back to earlier, less stressful days. The lodge was charming yet had all the amenities one would need. Cable TV, good internet , comfortable bed and linens and the best river view this side of heaven. We spent most of our time relaxing on the riverbank. Grills, picnic table and plenty of seating. Even took a nap in the chaise listening to the bubbling river. A perfect relaxing get away.
The word comfy applies to the Lodge. The setting is of a magnificent mountain valley with the aptly named Crystal River some thirty five feet out the sliding glass door. We sat on the flat top bank of the river, enjoying our appetizers and cocktails, watching the river and the changing light on the mountains. Popped over to the BBQ to check on dinner and refresh the cocktail in the kitchen. Listening to the sounds of the riverside for great sleeping. All in all a a gem of a location and a comfy property
We needed a break from the city and the Redstone Cliffs Lodge was the perfect choice. Nested in the Colorado mountains we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and serenity of the Crystal River which flows right behind the property. This is our third time visiting the property and we are already looking forward to our next visit. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely put together. Everyone in town is very friendly. During prior visits we explored around visiting the Redstone Castle, the nearby town of Marble, Glenwood Springs and the Maroon Bells. On our last visit we just wanted to relax so we enjoyed some hiking and relaxed by the river. It was a perfect weekend getaway.
