8000' is way above sea level...be ready to breath deeply and often the land has a smell of peace...filled with horse manure...the cleanest barn yard i have ever seen. The food hall is aromatic due to the magnificent chef Bob ( served by the nicest people- always smiling- and ready to tell a horse tale) 109 horses all saddled/ dressed/...

Just got back from our adults-only week at BMR. It's almost impossible to add to the superlatives found in the other reviews. All I can say is that everything the others have said is true! Beautiful country, great cabins, fantastic food, and the best wranglers and staff around. If you love the outdoors, this is a place not to miss!!!!

With a husband who hates horses and two unpredictable teenage kids, I booked this holiday with some trepidation. It was the perfect retreat from everyday life. The ranch is in a beautiful, remote spot with spectacular views for many miles. Cabins are comfortable and there is a central dining room for consistently delicious food and a saloon bar where we...

Alot of experience and care has gone into making this holiday enjoyable for everyone. It's a really busy week with a choice of activities for both mornings and afternoons. Riding, shooting, roping, fishing, swimming or simple chilling in the stunning Colorado mountains. Over 100 beautiful, sure-footed horses and a super friendly wrangler team. We all loved the riding - even...

I cannot say enough good things about Black Mountain Ranch. I have vacationed all over the world and BMR is BY FAR the BEST RUN PROPERTY I have ever been to. From the moment you step onto the ranch to the moment you leave, you are made to feel like part of the ranch family. There are seemingly endless activities...

We just returned from our week at BMR. This was our first dude ranch experience and we couldn't have asked for a better one! Coming from the Boston area, everything was new to us. The staff at BMR were incredible in making us feel comfortable from Day 1 - they were very accommodating and super knowledgeable about everything (horses, cattle,...

I rarely review places on Trip advisor unless it a negative and I want to warn others. But, this time it's because we had a spectacular time and all the five star reviews are completely accurate. The staff is great ( especially you Emily!), the location is perfect for steep high altitude climbs, the horses or well behaved and sure...

we just returned from a week long stay at BMR in McCoy. It was fabulous...and for the four members of my family it was fabulous for different reasons. My middle son really embraced the riding and cattle management. my eldest enjoyed the variety: riding, shooting, overnight pack camp, rafting. My youngest enjoyed the experience and opportunity to meet lots of...
