This review is based on a 33 night road trip, staying at 22 properties, so is relatively objective.
We stayed for one night in September as a result of passing through the area rather than as a choice.
Located on the very period Main Street,...More
We did look for something special and we got it. A very classic room that was very charming. With no elevator the walk up the stairs took it’s tall in the thin air. Breakfast was not the best but Wen got what we wanted.
We were greater by Tex the young cowboy at check in. Interesting. Thankfully our room was on the second floor. Warning/ the steps are tiny and steep. Room was nice and the two towels they provided were tiny tiny. But, they worked and the water...More
This might be a good hotel if you are looking for history and a sense of "how it used to be"
For the price, we thought it was a bit too rustic for our tastes. It is set up a bit like a museum storage...More

Thank you for your inquiry. Our most recent, extensive renovation was completed 2013, including floor reveals, room decorating, bathroom and bedding changes, exhibit changes. I say this because we are always working to improve our guest experience and meet travelers' expectations. As soon as one project ends, another begins. As an historic hotel, our goal is to create an interactive Victorian experience for today's traveler. The best description, coined by guests, is "a museum with pillows" or "an adventure in itself." All our rooms have at least 3/4-baths, unlike the 1800's when the hotel offered one common bath per floor and a tub in the basement! We are not your standard roadside inn and also do not aspire to be that. As the last of Leadville's grand Victorian hotels, we do present a unique glimpse into Colorado and American history. Presenting an extensive collection of American and European antiques, our furniture and accessories are ever-changing as collectors and lodging guests from all over the world find pieces they wish to adopt. Our goal is for every guest to find something different the next time they visit. If your passion is history and uniqueness, you'll enjoy both the Delaware Hotel and Leadville.
