There are two significant historical hotels in Durango and we chose the smaller. You can't go wrong; this is as 4-star historical hotel. The hotel was built by railroad magnate General Palmer and the Rio Grande tourist train leaves for Silverton from the site. The bigger Hotel Stater is a block away. I chose the Palmer even though warned this...

This is a very special and spectacular Hotel experience in a historical perspective. This is an experience that should not be missed. We had the inside rooms which were special. Decorated in the time period with a 1930's elevator. The staff was special too.

We love staying at historic hotels and understand they may lack some modern convinces. With that said the hotel is beautiful with a friendly staff and great location in the middle of historic Durango. The average rating we gave is due to the air conditioning or lack of. It was warm in Durango the four days we were there. The...

The furniture and fixtures in the room take you back in time. We loved everything about the room including the Jacuzzi. The only disadvantage for the room was a lack of a desk or writing surface. Only one bathrobe.

Last room, inside room, very small, no windows. Clean, nicely done room. We enjoy the General Palmer --numerous times over the last 40 years. Very poor breakfast Durango the city many, many panhandlers. Two or three every block. We would not go off main street. One guy screaming, people do not like him, real strange. Have never seen so many...

In June we stayed three nights at the General Palmer Hotel in downtown Durango, CO, and we were delighted. Easy walking to the train station or restaurants and shops and having a delicious breakfast each morning in a quaint and beautiful setting were some of the benefits my husband and I enjoyed. While there are numerous motels and hotels in...

We actually won a night at the General Palmer at a charity auction, and were thrilled with the experience. We decided to elope to Durango and stayed here the night before our wedding at the courthouse. The bed and pillows could have been more comfy, but it was perfect for the occasion and I would definitely stay there again for...

I can tell you it's like taking a step back in time but the room was perfect, nice think carpet on the floor, marble and granite in the bathroom area. My room was very quiet and I really enjoyed the comfortable bed and pillows. Besides the room being great the location was perfect, I was close walking distance to many...

After we scheduled our trip to Durango to take the train to Silverton we were contacted by the railroad asking if we needed assistance with hotel accommodations. We'd already made reservations at a place a couple miles from the train station. We quickly accepted their offer to assist us with hotel accommodations at a great rate and cancelled our previously...

Historic hotel, nice staff. Rooms are small but cute and have all you need. For the price we were disappointed with the breakfast, and not much seating. Great location in the heart of the action, especially if you are going to be taking the train. We stayed 2 nights. Very clean.

Thank Tessa-Lily
