Updated review based on a response from the manager. This is the second time we've stayed at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square. Paid more for a "penthouse" unit and while it was just across the hall from the last unit we rented, it was larger and much nicer with a view of the mountain. Pros: - Location is fantastic, right behind the lifts and ski valet is very convenient. - Definitely appreciate the way the unit is furnished and decorated. A huge upgrade to the place we stayed previously. One of the two beds is very comfortable. - Housekeeping replaced a broken coffee pot without having to ask. They'd put it in the dishwasher and the pot cracked during the cycle. Left it on the counter and it was replaced that day. - Appreciate that they use full, refillable containers for toiletries and at least made an effort at supplying liquid hand soap for each of the sinks. Minor: - I was not expecting any housekeeping, but just reviewed the email they sent and it is included if you stay more than 3 days (we're here for 5). They emptied the dishwasher and the kitchen trash. I appreciate that. I have come to expect no housekeeping during Covid Additional supplies for the bathroom and/or wiping down the counters would have been preferable if they were going to bother coming in. I wish my expectations had been set. They did knock early (9AMish) on our last full day and asked if we needed anything. - Hot tub and pool were unavailable at least one day. The website said they were open when we booked. When we inquired today as to the location of the pool (not obvious), they unapologetically said they were "checking the chemicals" and to check back in a few hours. Thankfully the manager returned my call to explain that someone had spilled a beer and that upset all the chemicals and what not. I understand that and the sincere apology offered. Just wish that would have been stated in the first place. - No measuring spoons in the kitchen. Thankfully we bring most of our own necessary supplies. - Second bed isn't very comfortable, nor is the couch.

The Lodge at Mountaineer Square has an incredible location. Pros include a location just steps away from the chairlift, condo style accommodations and heated garage. Cons: The kitchen was not stocked so well. It would be tough to truly cook meals there. Also, the housekeeping is pitiful. We had a king bed that was made with queen sheets which couldn't really tuck in, leaving the mattress exposed. It took several phone calls to get the matter resolved. The hotel truly had no king sheets for several days. Not what I was expecting at the price we paid.

Full function ski resort hotel with both hotel rooms and condo units. Very friendly and efficient services. Indoor parking via valet. The Spa is excellent with steam, sauna indoor and outdoor pools. And, hot tub. The ski lifts are right out the door. There is a town shuttle that can take you into downtown crested butte that runs every 15 minutes +-. Our room had a very nice fireplace and view.

My family of seven had a wonderful 10 day stay at this hotel. Our 3 bedroom suite was spacious and nicely furnished. The location to the slopes and ski shops is superb. The staff was helpful anytime we had questions or needed help. I am looking forward to returning in December 2022!

Our room was old, beat-up, and smelly. The room temperature was too high for us, but we were unable to set it below 69°F. We tried to use a fan that we found in the closet, but it was too loud and we couldn’t sleep with it on. Wi-Fi barely worked; I couldn’t use my iPad. The hotel didn’t have a restaurant or cafe or any kind of food. This room was totally overpriced, but during checkout, they tried to charge us parking and resort fees on top of it. I found this preposterous because, in my opinion, this hotel didn’t have the quality or amenities of the resort. On the other hand, I found the hotel staff very nice and friendly.

We just spent four nights at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary in Crested Butte. We booked a one bedroom unit. The unit was very spacious and well appointed—it was a really nice room. The unit also had a full kitchen and washing machine and dryer, both which were utilized and appreciated. We used the fitness center (might I suggest a foam roller for tight muscles after long hikes?) and the jacuzzi (which was hot and some of the jets were strong). We really enjoyed our stay here and definitely would come back. I typically don't post reviews, but felt I had to because I wanted to give a huge shout out to Alex the Front Desk Manager. There was some confusion with my reservation and I really struggled getting it sorted out with Vail Resorts. When I contacted the hotel and shared this with Alex, he offered to look into it and was so helpful in sorting it out. He was the consummate professional and in my opinion did what someone working in the hospitality industry should do - work with the guests to ensure their stay works out. If it wasn't for his help, I would have shown up for this special weekend get away with a bad taste in my mouth. So thank you to Alex! By the way, right before I started writing this review, I read other recent reviews of the hotel - and the two most recent ones also mentioned Alex. I came here to write this on my own because of my gratitude for his help. No one at the resort mentioned trip advisor, asked for a review or anything of the sort. So those reading this , please know this is 100% authentic. Oh, and yes there was no A/C, but it was ok for us as the summer weather cooled off at night.

It was our second time back at the Lodge. We booked it because it advertises A/C although last year and this year it still doesn't have it working. However this year, the Front Desk Manager Alex was forthcoming, and when we arrived for check-in the team of Dewey, Kaylee, and Alex worked to get us a room with a sliding door & windows for a cross-breeze. The room also had a small toaster oven & fridge which was great. We also got to use the gym which was well-equipped. The front desk staff really makes up for the lack of Vail Resorts attention to the property but we'll definitely look around for other properties when we head back to CB next year.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. Unfortunately, the AC in the entire hotel was broken when we arrived and the room we were given had a missing screen, preventing us from opening one of the two windows in the room. It was quite hot when we were there, so after one night we requested a room change. Alex at the front desk was great--extremely patient in finding me a much better room, and even offered to help me move. Our second room was a corner room, which allowed cross room air flow. It also had a balcony, which was very nice. Both rooms were clean and well furnished and the bathrooms were very large. The hotel was also very conveniently located, with a bus stop for a free bus to town right outside, and the lift line for the chair lift right behind the property. While we were staying at the hotel, equipment to fix the AC was arriving, so presumably this problem has now been fixed (they had apparently been without AC for a month). The only negative of our stay was that we were told when we checked in that no bikes were allowed in the room. With a very expensive bike, my husband was quite nervous about leaving it on the car in the underground parking lot. We were offered a place to store it near the front desk in a locked closet, but no one would be available to open the closet until 8 am and he had a 6 am ride scheduled. We were therefore nervous, but there were no problems leaving the bike locked on the car. However, it would have been nice had this information been communicated to us prior to our arrival, as this is the first time in many travels that we could not put the bike in our room.

Had a wonderful experience here recently. Stayed in condo 515- a one bedroom, 2 bath unit. Our son stayed in the pull out living room couch. We were in the luxurious bedroom. King size bed, great linens. Most storage we’ve had for a ski condo. The bathrooms were both spectacular. Soaking tub in the master bathroom was a highlight considering the hot tub was closed due to COVID. Really excellent full size body wash and shampoo products to use but the very small print says don’t take them home or you’ll be charged. Almost missed this. Great gas fire place , very comfortable sitting area in our living room. Plus patio that gets morning sun and nice view of slopes . Excellent kitchen for cooking. Not too impressed with pots and pans though but sufficed. No condiments provided except salt and pepper shakers. No kitchen supplies like foil or plastic wrap. We’re used to those at other condos we’ve stayed at. Washer and dryer in the unit was great. Free use of slope side ski vallet. But no room on property to tune your skis on your own ( except the garage). The location was absolutely awesome . Real short walk to lifts and bus to town .

This trip was easily the most stressful one I'd ever been on with about 20 hours of flight delays for a 3-day ski trip. Ultimately, my feeling was that the current state of this hotel provides virtually no benefit compared to an unmanaged or semi-managed Airbnb/rental. Pros: - Close to the lift and town shuttle, essentially Ski-in/Ski-out - Eligible for Epic Pass discount, rates are borderline *inexpensive* before considering an effective 25% tax/fee rate. Still a fine price. - Really nice bathroom Cons: - As I've noticed in other skiing hotels this year, rooms get extremely hot overnight, well into the 70s. A/C didn't work at all, so I had to sleep with the windows wide open every night. - I missed my first day but on my "first" morning where I was going to sleep in, I was instead woken up by constant construction vehicle back-up sounds from 6 AM (not 7 AM like the other review said) until 8 AM. Awful. - This is a "4-star hotel" according to Google but doesn't have dining or room service. There's a coffee shop in the square that opens at 7 AM and offers instant burritos for breakfast. I found this to be straight-up misleading. There's also a "lunch spot" in the square that serves pre-made sushi and sandwiches out of ice chests. Huh?? - They've closed all of their amenities but this seems less like "keeping you safe" and more like corporate sleight-of-hand. It appeared to me that another hotel close by did have a pool and hot tubs open, and these amenities seem to be open at resorts all across ski resorts in the western US. So... what's the reasoning here? - I called and asked for proof that I didn't check in on time due to a travel delay. The first guy just sent me a copy of my booking. I then figured hey, I'm sure we could take care of this via email, but all my emails bounced--there's no way to correspond via email. Finally, I spoke to the manager and he was great about sending me all the information I needed. - More of a "learning" than a con, there is pretty much no village here. With this super-efficient bus system, there is way more value in staying in downtown CB.
