There was very low water pressure and the knob/handle to control the temperature didn't work well. Taking ice cold showers for 4 days was horrible. Also the bed was hitting something metal and made an awful noise every time we rolled over. We couldn't find what was making the noise. The woman at the front desk in the mornings was very apologetic but said there was morning she could do. It's a shame that this is the way our trip went as it's a great location in Basalt. Also the provided breakfast was pitiful. We heard some other guests talking about the lack of shower ability so it wasn't just our room
I never stayed because they don't communicate well, but I was given a totally inappropriate attitude, gaslighted and legally threatened when I mentioned I would be reviewing my poor experience. On their own website it states that "You must receive an email from Aspenalt Lodge to be guaranteed a room." Well, I didn't find one and I stayed elsewhere which is where this all began. They called me and upon learning that I'd booked elsewhere, the employee taking the call (apparently a teenager) began yelling at me. They charged me the full rate despite not staying. Speaking with the manager (apparently the owner) later, it quickly devolved into the same unhinged screaming over the phone. This further devolved into baseless legal threats after stating I'd be posting a review of my experience dealing with them. I cannot speak to cleanliness or otherwise, but if you don't want to have your intelligence insulted, you don't want a punk teenage kid giving you attitude and don't want to deal with general dysfunctional business practice, there are two other hotels in Basalt. I mentioned the gaslighting? The owner has a pattern of responding to negative reviews in such a manner, and after dealing with them on the phone I imagine that they will be doing the same between twisting my words and insulting my intelligence by email.…
This hotel is such a gem in the Roaring Fork Valley! We were there for a short cross country ski trip for which the location was perfect. We could easily access the trails in Basalt, Snowmass, and the Aspen Nordic Center without having to stay all the way up valley and deal with the traffic and expense that entails. The room was updated and clean. Our room overlooked the river and we made good use of the chairs outside the room, enjoying our morning coffee. Breakfast was good and much appreciated. The staff at the front desk were all friendly and efficient. We really couldn't have asked for anything more. We'll definitely be back!
The external appearance of the facility belies the interior quality and location. We had a room on the second floor facing the river and it was delightful. We sat on a bench by the river for some time sipping wine and just listening to the gurgling water. The owners have remodeled the interiors and they did an excellent job. This facility gets my top rating because it has great value: wonderful location, rooms and at a reasonable price.
Very clean , friendly, and only 15 minutes to Snowmass! Rooms along river are freshly RE-done. Several places to eat within walking distance. Liquor store and gas station next door. Only thing it’s missing is a hot tub...
We were only here one night but would have wanted to stay longer just to enjoy hearing the sound of the Frying Pan River right outside our door. We did sleep with the windows open so heard it for a while. The hotel is a little dated but our double queen room was good enough for us. It was mostly clean except for a few Cheetos on the floor. The breakfast offerings were hard boiled eggs, pastries, yogurt, fruit, granola bars and juice. It is within walking distance of several restaurants too.
When we pulled up to this place we were very doubtful! But is lived up to what others have said. CLEAN as can be! Quiet...not like the newer places where you can hear your neighbors cough...this place is very quiet. The beds were so amazing that I had to find out the brand so I could buy one. Rooms are small.....but we were out hiking all day so didn’t care about that at all. Our room was on the river...so opening the windows at tonight and listen to that was a treat! The lobby has had a nice remodel and the breakfast was limited but worked for us! I wish the young man in the lobby knew more about local activities. He didn’t seem at all aware of what was happening around town at all. I would stay here again for sure! Thank you for being so darn clean!!!!
This place is just OK but quite a bit cheaper than lodging in Aspen (if that’s your ultimate destination for skiing etc.). Beds were clean and all but quite firm with polyester feeling cover over starchy cotton sheets. You won’t likely be staying here for for the ambiance but it’s centrally located by and near classic fishing on the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork rivers. It’s within general boundaries of what feels like “old town” and has a good variety of places to eat within walking distance.
Aspenalt Lodge offers comfortable accommodations in a scenic location. Rooms were comfortable and clean with a huge television. My room was facing the Frying Pan River and the king size bed was great. The location affords the visitor easy access to several good restaurants and shops in Basalt, not to mention the river for world class fishing.
This is a small, vintage motel. They were in the process of refurbishing so breakfast was just coffee and doughnuts in a small space. The room was upstairs but there are ground-level rooms available. Room was clean and convenient. Nice location on the banks of the river with chairs and tables and barbecue grills available to enjoy. Several good restaurants nearby.
