I am speechless and without words right now. We are frequent visitors to this hotel, and have loved it until today. In fact we send all of our friends here, and stayed here in Sept. However, tonight upon arrival I find out the manager/owner Zach and taken us out of the suite we booked and put us into two basic rooms with double size beds. No phone call, no email nothing. The front desk gal told me “well you are getting two rooms for the cost of the suite.” She also told me that all of the suites booked 3-4 days ago, that’s when my head really exploded, and I realized they did this for money. I had only reserved the suite for one evening 12 days ago, and they are able to make more money on someone who wanted that suite for multiple nights. So Zach really likes money better than he does taking care of his customers. Traveling with children this does not work, so my husband and I will split up between the two rooms so they are not in a hotel room alone all night. Not to mention their basic room has stains all over the carpets, table. I’ve never been so upset, and disappointed traveling before. We travel at least once a month, I always book direct, not on a third party website. Guess next time we are in Basalt/Aspen we will stay at the Element, big chain instead of supporting the little guy who screws You over.…
We spent one night at the Basalt Mountain Inn and it was the perfect location for the hiking we had planned for the following day. It is within walking distance of everything in town including the gorgeous river path and suspension bridge. Our room was simple, but clean. Breakfast included yogurt, fruit, and waffles, perfect pre-hiking meal.
The check in staff person was positively hostile. Same at breakfast -- a scowling face and no greeting or welcome of any kind. Nobody working here looked very happy, what's up with that? This place is clean and new but furnishings are minimal with zero ambience or attention to comfort. Undersized tv. Tattered washclothes. Literally no supplies in kitchenette. Breakfast spread is just plain sad, skip it.
I have traveled and stayed all over the world, but this venue gets my vote as the worst of hundreds. As an example - has a kitchen, but no plates, no silverware, no bowls, and no dish soap. What good is a kitchen without any of these?? Water is warm. Bed reasonable. But not a place to do anything other than sleep.
Love the value! Quick drive to Aspen for snowboarding without Aspen prices! The room was perfect for my entire family with a queen-size pullout couch. The included hot breakfast made it really easy to get a bite and hit the slopes!
This is a lovely inn close to Aspen area ski slopes and miles and miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails. Basic rooms with a kitchenette and morning breakfast included.Very friendly and helpful staff.
I had a good experience with this hotel generally. The king suite was very clean. There was a minor problem of a ceiling light that had a short in it. I do wish I had been warned in the hotel description that steep stairs are required to reach some of the rooms. No elevator. It is a good value for the price and close to two good restaurants; Heathers and Free Range Kitchen and Wine Bar. Nice, friendly people in Basalt. But if you have difficulty with stairs, particularly with hauling bags up and down them, you might want to discuss this in your reservation as there are a few rooms without the steep stairs.
Myself and 3 of my coworkers stayed at this establishment a couple of weeks ago. Max and his manager Thomas were great to deal with. The rooms were clean and affordable and I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend to anyone I know. Great people in Basalt and we had a great time. Co-workers all enjoyed their stay as well. Nick Portaleos - Presidential Worldwide Transportation
I booked a reservation three months ago for a stay in mid-July. Today I got a call - less than two weeks before my scheduled arrival - saying my reservation is cancelled. There's been an ownership change and they find themselves overbooked. Nothing they can do. At this point, I am unable to find any other nearby accommodations for less than double or triple the price. Not off to a great start there, new owners.
The place has changed ownership since our last visit and it shows. Last year we were treated kindly and welcomed by Denise. This time a smarmy and rude man pretending to be the new “ owner”Max De Maria, made our stay miserable. The new carpet unfortunately still had a bad chemical smell and caused my husband breathing problems. We requested help, We were told by Max we could go to another hotel or have a fan. We chose the fan and had to sleep with all windows open, with no screens on most, but Max never brought the fan he promised. I had to go get it. The carpet smelled, the couch has stains on. it, the air conditioner is crammed right next to the bed so it blows in your face. Suite 16 was not up to the hype. . But, still we stayed. We love the area. We were told we would have to switch rooms the last day, which was no problem, but not told we would be without a room for four hours until after we paid . When the very kind Denise explained she could hold our items we said fine. Max, the one who misrepresented himself as the owner, refused to hold our small bag of refrigerated items after we were told we could. It was a nightmare. We love Basalt, and everyone else is so lovely. The place was nothing like last year. We found out this guy was just a trainer, not the owner as he claimed. Luckily, we found another hotel immediately and enjoyed the rest of our stay elsewhere. We are frequent travelers and have never encountered someone like Max and his ridiculous power trip at Basalt. We loved our stay last year but will never return. We did t expect luxury but did expect hospitality.…
