I miss motels. You park your car in front of the room, unload luggage (and endless baby supplies if you've git one) and enjoy the stay. This little gem has a few steps to go up from the parking lot, so once you reach the top of the stairs you are under a long covered patio with chairs and small patio tables. The view overlooks the drying up lake. Argh! I wish the drought were over. This motel, to me, represents everything good about America and my memories of family vacations in that old family station wagon. After having my second awesome shower in 2 nights, lying in that comfy bed and looking up at the white beam ceiling; i wondered,"why did i pay 4x this for a crappy shower, crappy parking, crappy beds, and overpriced food in Mammoth Lakes?" Any future trips to Mammoth will only be day trips. But i know i will always want to rest and relax at the Barewood inn.…
The rooms are like apartments. The beds are comfortable, the water pressure in the shower is great, and the wifi is a solid connection, which is great when you are trying to upload your daily paperwork. Perfect for digital nomads.
Stayed here as part of 6 week road trip in US. Good one night stop place. Room clean, bed linen clean, staff friendly, quiet at night. Had a great meal in Kane River Brewery on recommendation of staff.
Very nice, clean, quiet and well-maintained motel. Basic, but no problems, everything was working. Convenient location if you go to Lake Isabella, scenic Kern River or Giant Sequoia National Monument.
Have to agree with the previous reviews. We only stayed one night in passing but the room was quite large, clean, and the price was very reasonable. I only have one negative comment and that is there was only one pillow which made the bedtime read a bit uncomfortable.
One of the cleanest motel rooms we've stayed in. A little short on space but everything is clean, neat and in excellent working condition. The owner was very helpful and shared his knowledge of the road closures and projected weather. The amenities were great as we treated ourselves to the hard candy, popcorn, coffee and tea. The coffee maker was a bit high for my wife to use easily so it was my job to make the morning coffee. We left with their nice little notepad. Nice place that shows pride of ownership.
This place is amazing! Lake views. Super clean rooms with tons of amenities. Coffee, hot cocoa, popcorn, tea. microwave, fridge. the list goes on. Really reasonably priced for what you get. Full solar panel spread on top. Beautiful quilts on beds. Full bathtubs. Acs that work great, quiet. We love it here. We are camping and we were looking for a pet friendly hotel in Kernville, all we could find were overpriced places that had little vacancy. This place is a true gem. Well cared for by owners. you can tell they really love the place.
Very clean and neat big room - stayed at Lakeshore Lodge. Good parking, #38 has small kitchen with the micro, coffee maker, toaster in kitchenet with sliding doors to porch. Comfortable beds, walk-in shower with glass doors (no more small bathroom). Wireless works well but Dish TV did not have anything we wanted to watch. Mike was very friendly on phone and in person. Only draw back -- miss waffle breakfast - smile.
I had business to take care of in the Weldon and Lake Isabella area. For the last few years we would usually stay at a friend’s mobile home in Bodfish. But due to the recent fires they had allow a family that got burned out to use it until they get back on their feet. In looking for an alternative place to stay I came across the Barewood Inn & Suites. I was looking for a place with good reviews and this seem to be one of the top rated in Lake Isabella area. The location in Wofford Heights allowed me to get around the lake within a reasonable distance of where I had to go. The price was very reasonable for the area. We got in a little late on the day before New Year’s. The front office was locked with a phone stationed outside the door. Upon calling the manager who appeared to be living in a residence behind the Inn promptly came up and checked us in. We stayed in room 1 and were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was spacious and clean with a small table and two chairs in the corner of the bedroom area. A small adjacent space next to the bedroom had a sink, refrigerator, and microwave. The sink doubled as a bathroom sink and as a little kitchenette sink. It was pleasant touch to have water provided in the refrigerator at no extra charge. The bathroom was clean and of good size with the only drawback being the control for the hot water was difficult to adjust satisfactory. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back at the Barewood Inn & Suites whenever the need to come back arises.…
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Well maintained, including motel grounds. Mine was a last minute reservation on my way home from Death Valley. "Privately owned" sometimes gives a better experience. No breakfast included, which is a negative for me. The coffee provided was lousy. It barely passed as "coffee". Other than that everything was great, thank you!
