Detailed Reviews
We were referred to The Bulls Head by Fishbourne Palace staff and our foursome arrived late for lunch at 2.40 p.m. (kitchen closes at 3 p.m.), We expected a 'tired sigh' at this late hour but instead received a warm welcome, delicious food and superb service!
The menu is varied and interesting and we can recommend the fish pie, Japanese curry and battered fish, plus the super dessert selection.
The prices are fair and the bar and restaurant staff were truly exemplary.
We can recommend The Bulls Head without reservation and left with a good feeling that we had really received value for money .

After not being able to get drinks at 2 locations due to apps not downloading we cycled to the bulls head, large garden and benches ideal social distancing. Not only did we have drinks, we ordered food that came quick and tastey. Abbie the lass behind the bar was polite, friendly and fun, she couldnt of been more hospitable without being over the top. We noticed you can stay here too. Highly recommend and we shall use more often. Thank you

Came for Sunday lunch and was shown to a comfortable table. Found the staff very friendly and helpful with everyone. I order the lamb shank with colcannon and thought the menu said kale but that was in the mash with bacon so the waiter bought me a dish of kale especially. The lamb was good but there was far too much gravy which was quite sweet for my tasting but still delicious. The beef looked excellent with plenty of pink meat. There were 4 roasts on the board and a comprehensive menu as well. I've also bought a large group here and found the service and food very good. Plenty of parking.

I can tell from other responses to not great reviews that this criticism won’t be accepted well but frankly any response from this landlady will be water off a ducks back. Have you never heard the expression ‘the customer is always right?’
I would suggest you suck up this Critisism which is given honestly.
So we stayed one night in July whilst visiting family. The pub is lovely and the menu looks fabulous. We weren’t eating there that night as we were going into the city centre to dine so can’t comment on quality.
We were shown to our room on arrival. The rooms are ground fooor and at the back of the hotel right in the beer garden.
First thing was that there were tables and chairs parked right outside our room with folk sat at them eating and drinking and talking very loudly. No chance of a nap or just a peaceful rest and couldn’t open window due to noises right outside window. The twin beds were poor quality with broken plastic slats and a dreadful mattress which had to be put on the floor. The shower was mouldy and the room was really hot. Our friends had the next door riom with no window at all and a table literally next to their door.
When we returned in the evening we couldn’t Sleep because all the staff were sitting outside shouting and laughing until way after midnight!
At breakfast we found the landlady to be less than friendly. The impression we got is that they want you to eat and leave so they can prep for Sunday lunch.
It feels like you are doing B&B as an afterthought and at £135 a night frankly I expect better! Customer service needs to go up
A notch and the rooms need to be uograded, especially the beds and linen. You need to move tables and chairs from the bedroom areas and stop staff making a row outside when you have guests.

Dear Karen, Firstly, my wife does not respond to all of the reviews! We will not "Suck up" anything! (Please do a spell check in future, as your hastiness to write, lets you down) I will however, endeavour to put you right! 1. The customer is not always right 2. Our bed is wooden, therefore, does not have plastic slats! How you managed to put the mattress on the floor, when room diameters do not permit this, is magical! 3. Sorry for global warming and for the fact your room was "Hot". If you had bothered to look you would have found a fan in your room (all rooms have these) 4. My staff were not sitting after hours drinking, (most drive and had left) they were customers, from other rooms, it was not after midnight as we close at 11.20 (like many establishments) CCTV proves this! SO WE MOVE ON TO BREAKFAST! 1. We accepted your request to invite your family for breakfast, you arrived later than requested and your family were half an hour later than you. To then decide to sit and wait whilst you talked, we said that we would have to serve your breakfast, as yes, Sunday lunch is part of our business, it needs to be cooked, set up, and unfortunately, we cannot sit and wait around at your convenience. We serve over 150 meals on a Sunday, all freshly cooked! 2. You were extremely rude, demanding, and selfish, putting things from the breakfast table onto your table, without a single thought to any other guest! 3. My wife (Nicky) had hurt her back and was in extreme pain ( being the person you are, you would not have been aware of this) she is extremely professional. This was the reason I, myself, brought your breakfast out! We have many wonderful reviews for our B&B. So "Afterthought " it is very much not! All I can say is, please do not come back!

Just had a very good meal in this atmospheric country pub, marred by the fact that the disabled loo is in a terrible state with things stored in it, broken loo seat (and a very low loo too) and no soap. I reported this to the barman, who said he eould look into it. Fine. But then the ostensibly jovial 'mine host' asked how we'd enjoyed our visit so I told him too. He said he'd spent a fortune on redecoration so I shouldn't complain about the disabled loo being 'outdated' (why not?? As a disabled person i pay just as much for my meal as others (over £14 for fish and chips, by the way). So I said he should spend a bit more and get a loo seat! He then said that the Ladies is just as accessible as the disabled loo - so I pointed out you had to pass the disabled facility before getting to the Ladies, so how would I know that??? Needless to say he blustered at that commen. So we won't be going back, which will not worry the owner, and I suggest other disabled people take note of his attitude to us. A shame, because we thought we'd found a little gem.

Firstly I would like to say how much we pride ourselves on all of our toilet facilities including our disabled toilet. All toilets are cleaned on a daily basis. After you brought this to our attention, I immediately went into the Disabled toilet to check it. The decor may be slightly outdated from your point of view, however, there was soap and hand sanitizer in the toilet, along with a hand dryer. We do not use it for any storage purposes, apart from 2 small high chairs which are stored over night. It is fully accessible, clean and tidy, also having a wall mounted baby changing unit which folds up flat against the wall. We were unaware of the broken toilet seat and we apologised there and then for that, as it is unacceptable. We immediately ordered another one which has now been fitted. I feel you have written an extremely, unwarranted review, regarding our business. We are a little Gem!

Superb quality fish and chips. Fish perfectly cooked and glossy and not dry as previously frozen fish can often be. I can't imagine the fish is fresh not frozen but it tasted as if it was. Good fish n chips is hard to find but when you do it's a classic dish and this was amongst the best I have had anywhere ever. Great service also and a friendly and welcoming pub.

We were out and about Sunday and decided we’d like to find somewhere for a Sunday dinner and we’d already tired 2 known place that were full. Fortunately we were stuck in traffic and I asked my wife to google ‘best Sunday roasts’ as were close by (literally 2 mins away ) and thought we’d try one last place ! Thank god we did.
We’ve often driven past the pub and others long the road , but never again!
The pub itself is lovely with a decent selection of beer , but the food was absolutely fantastic and pipping hot (something if a rarity in itself these days ). Very well cooked , and generous portions (although we managed to just about finish it ). Service was very good , very polite and courteous to (albeit you forgot one pudding , which was not an issue as we shared anyway .
What was lovely to see , was 3 elderly ladies having a Sunday dinner , but one clearly had to have hers in a bowl chopped up very small & but that was no trouble for the chef when they asked & I think he even came out to make sure it was right for her and she had the biggest beaming smile . That is just brilliant customer service and very respectful. I could name many a place who could learn from you. Absolutely wonderful to see.
And the puddings , wow ! If you can fit one in - they look stunning. The whole menu is very good with all manner of options without being over the top with choices.
We certainly won’t be just driving past any more.
Thank you for a fantastic dinner !

You must go to this pub to eat the fantastic food. My wife and I went for lunch. The welcome and service was first class. I can certainly recommend the fillet steak and the liver & bacon from the menu although the other dishes being served looked equally nice . The portion sizes were excellent and the food was served piping hot and was excellent value for money.

We had a lovely one night stay in this very welcoming pub/restaurant. Our room was very comfortable with a generous selection of tea, coffee biscuits and bottled water. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was excellent.
The menu is unpretentious, top quality pub food. We both opted for the excellent squid starter. My fillet steak was cooked to perfection and my wife’s moules frites were as good as any she’s enjoyed in France. The sticky toffee and ginger puddings we chose were as delicious as they were generous.
Our dinner was washed down with an excellent Kiwi sauvignon blanc.
Our full English breakfasts the next morning were everything they should be: first rate ingredients, freshly cooked and piping hot. They were preceded by a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts and juices.
We really enjoyed chatting to our host Nicola. She and her husband Craig clearly work very hard to keep their staff (who keep ALL their tips) and guests very happy. Long may their well deserved success continue!

The pub itself seemed really nice, we didn't eat or drink in there at night, just had breakfast in the morning, but the decor was nice, toilets were clean etc... Breakfast was lovely & staff were nice & pleasant too.
Accommodation is really sweet at the back of the pub but unfortunately our room we felt could do with a little TLC, the carpet has alot of dirt/spillage marks and a burn mark on it & bedding a little tired looking. The filter on the kettle was broken so couldn't make a cup of tea as when you poured it, all the lime scale would come out & unfortunately it was too late in the night for us to be able to say anything or ask for another one & one of the lights in the ceiling were taped over with black tape. It just felt a bit tired looking. Otherwise would have loved it.

Thankyou for your review. We are awaiting on a new carpet for your room, as unfortunately, we had wedding guests stay a few days previously to you and lipstick was spilt all over the carpet, we did try to remove it but to no avail. We have taken your comments on board and replaced all of the kettles in all rooms. We hope to see you again. Kind regards Nicky Harden
