Our stay at Tamara Coorg was a big wow!

The planation property is huge...184 acres and resort is built on approx. 9 acres land. I saw thoughtfulness in every part of the resort. Small things like umbrellas in front of every cottage, wooden brushes, combs, natural soaps in washrooms, and then, there were the biggies like the buggies which took guests around anywhere they wish to go within the property...although we took every opportunity to walk along the winding pathways, exploring the place and burning/digesting the massive meals we had at the besutifully appointed restaurant...with its lipsmacking dishes! Waterfalls throughout the property, birds chirping..great photo ops everywhere. Bliss!

Highlight though was the staff..highly courteous, sweet, alert with a ready smile and a greeting...always happy to take our pictures. Even the gardener greeted us!!

The deck which is the facility for indoor games has more games than I've seen in 1 place - tt, indoor golf, archery, dart board, pool table, fooseball, carom, some local coorg special board games....crayons/colours for anyone to enjoy art if the mood strikes. Swimming pools were dreamy!

Although they had many available activities like planation walks, treks, cookoffs, cocktail creation, etc., we didn't do them this time. Perhaps, next time....

Cottages are spacious, well appointed and we were not left wanting at all. The view from the balcony is fantastic and offers complete privacy.

Suggestions -

1. I wanted to try the spa but found it highly overpriced, so gave that a miss. An idea would be to introduce 15 minute mini massages, say for neck and shoulders or a short foot massage as part of our booked package. Also, mini massages could be priced such that it falls within an affordable price range for guests. It's all about providing an enhanced experience after all. I have experienced this inclusive spa service in another premium resort i stayed at earlier and it felt like it completed my vacation experience.

2. Although the linen and all else was clean, rooms had a musty smell. That should be taken care of.

3. Ala Carte food is highly overpriced. A sandwich for ₹750!!!! While I understand that it's difficult to source ingredients n such a location, we felt we were at the mercy of the hotel as far as food was concerned. One cannot get out of the resort easily because its a 4 km stretch to the general road.
So, one needs to plan for this when one visits here.

It was a really relaxing and rejuvenating vacation.

First of all the stay was one of the best with superb services and major emphasis on privacy and comfort of the guests

Right from the first instance, the reception staff made us comfortable after a tiring journey from Bengaluru.
The buggy ride to our cottage was also so informative with the staff explaining in detail about the property and their sustainability efforts.

The food, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, was on point with any other 5 star resorts. Live music and equal variety in veg and non veg food options was refreshing.

The activities like Short Hike to the nearby coffee plantation or the Blossom to Brew coffee Journey was simply exceptional and well managed by the staff. Karthik explained us so many things regarding the coffee and other trees surrounding the resort.

The cottage itself was spotless, hanging on top of a cliff and overlooking the serene Coorg forest. The housekeeping services were also prompt and restocked all the toiletries daily. It was my wife’s birthday and they even surprised us with a decoration and complimentary cake

The relationship manager Bouthika, also was always available to our requests and helped us completely from the pre stay to post stay at Tamara Coorg and also helped with all the activities

Overall, a pleasant weekend getaway in Coorg

We visited Tamara in October 2024 with my colleagues and it's our first visit to Tamara and my first visit to Coorg. As we move away from the main road, the roads start to get narrower but you are surrounded by forests and coffee plantations. Firstly, they have made sure adequate sign-boards are placed so it's easy for guests to find the place. The property itself is situated in the middle of a forest-cum-coffee estate and almost every room has a beautiful view of the valley or the estate. The rooms are very spacious and neatly designed with minimum lighting. Of course, all the amenities we expect in a top-class hotel is available in the room. The staff are very friendly and always at your service. One thing to note is the property is quite remote, so we do not have options to have food anywhere outside and it's advisable to go with at least a breakfast/dinner plan. We actually had all three meals there and the food is simply wonderful. The restaurant itself is built near a small waterfalls and having food watching it is a magical experience. In fact, the middle of the restaurant has a glass floor that allows us the see the stream running - Beautifully done! The resort also has some activities included in the package like trekking and we tried it. It was a short 1-hour work out of the property into the village in the forest but need to watch out for leeches. If one wants to be the midst of nature with luxury, I think Tamara is a perfect choice.

When we travelled from congested and polluted cities of Pune and Bengaluru, on entering Tamara Coorg itself we felt that we have entered paradise. Lush green surroundings, warm welcome, prompt service to take us to our rooms. We stayed in this paradise for three days. Good food, environment friendly buggy service on toes, informative coffee plantation tour and coffee making demonstration, unique Tratak Yoga session and relaxing spa session, all of this was enjoyed by all the family members. After a long time we had family meals together with nature’s bounty in company. We received prompt and smiling service at restaurant. Food menu had lot of local variety, and we ended up in adding to our weight in the end. All in all it was a wonderful experience and hence, we plan to visit Tamara Coorg again.
Before putting end to this note, we must make a mention of Mr. Manoj Mathew and Ms. Preethy for ensuring that we were looked after very well.

We recently stayed at Tamara Coorg from 16th Dec to 19th Dec and had a mixed experience, giving it a rating of 3.5 out of 5.

First, the positives:
The location and layout of Tamara Coorg are truly exceptional. The resort is nestled amidst lush greenery, offering breathtaking views and a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The rooms were well-designed, with comfortable beds and pristine linen that added to the overall luxury feel.

The booking process was seamless and efficient, which we genuinely appreciated. A standout aspect of our stay was the naturalist, Divya, who was par excellence during the Blossom to Brew session and bird-watching activities. Her passion and knowledge added an enriching dimension to our experience. The mixology session at the restaurant and bar was another highlight, offering a fun and interactive way to unwind.

However, the experience was somewhat marred by inconsistencies. While the food was decent, it lacked consistency in taste. Some dishes were delightful, but others missed the mark. That said, the servers were excellent—attentive and always willing to assist.

The main drawback of our stay was the lack of warmth and hospitality from the front office and reception staff. Interactions felt transactional and impersonal, which contrasted starkly with the exemplary service we experienced elsewhere during our trip. Several requests, such as asking for alternative toiletries (as we didn’t like the strong coffee scent of the provided ones), were turned down in a cold and dismissive manner, making us feel as though our preferences were being imposed upon.

To add to this, we received a call from the reception at 10:30 AM on the day of checkout, even though the official checkout time was 11:00 AM. This felt unnecessary and further highlighted the lack of genuine hospitality.

Our experience at Tamara Coorg stood in stark contrast to the warmth and exemplary service we experienced during our stays at Taj Madikeri and Taj MG Road Bangalore during the same week.

While Tamara Coorg offers a stunning location and some truly memorable experiences, the lack of warmth from the reception team and a few other service lapses left us feeling underwhelmed. With more attention to hospitality, this could easily become a top-notch destination.

Excellent property. Gracious hospitality. Delicious food. Wonderful and enjoyable stay despite rains on all 4 days! Akhilesh was exceptionally helpful and efficient. In restaurant Bishu and Shilpa were extremely courteous and helpful.
They need to increase the buggies significantly to reduce the waiting time which exceeds 30 minutes occasionally. Lighting in room and bathroom, particularly shower cubicle, needs to be improved. Evening turndown service should be a regular feature and not on request.

Tamara Coorg is one of the best resorts I've stayed in. I was here on a staycation with my wife and stayed in the Superior Luxury Cottage, which has an amazing view of the valley.

The Superior Luxury Cottage is at a height which gives you a great view of the surrounding greenery from the sundeck. The interiors of the room is all wood, which gives a natural and rustic feel. Even though the outside temperature is pleasant, there is both AC and fan in the room.

One of the highlights of our stay was the food. There is only one multi-cuisine restaurant in the resort - The Falls. We opted for an all-meals plan during booking, and we ordered for Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain food during our stay. The Food and Beverage Executive, Mr. Dinesh was amazing. His hospitality, food recommendations and helping us serve food according to our dietary restrictions is commendable. Mr. Dinesh's recommendations of local delicacies helped us experience various kinds of dishes.

There is a good recreation center as well with many indoor games. We played many of the games which were well maintained. Although there is an indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool and an outdoor sports arena, we didn't try those.

There are many activities as well offered to guests, some of which are included and some of which are paid. I'd suggest planning ahead of time for the activities and reserving them. We tried the towel art workshop that Srikanth showed us, and the coffee scrub workshop that Karthik showed us. Both of them were good.

We wanted to try the spa, but they didn't have a proper couples package and you had to purchase two separate therapies which would be done together in a couple room.

For a 5-star resort, the housekeeping could have been better.

Overall, a good resort and would recommend for a good staycation in nature.

After staying in many 5-star properties around the world, I think Tamara Coorg tops my list!
The consistency of service across every staff (Reception desk, Security guards, buggy drivers, restaurant staff, spa, maintenance staff etc) is just amazing!!! Each and every staff is so well trained that the whole experience is a Delight. They are always happy, smiling, and willing to go that extra mile. They take great pride in their job, so clearly, it’s evidence of how good the management is.

Overall, the property is absolutely gorgeous with large wooden cottages very tastefully designed to get a clear view of the valley from every cottage. The ambience & feel is so peaceful that you just want to stay forever. Although the food is a bit expensive, the quality & taste is fantastic. Guests can use a buggy to move around this large property and the overall management / coordination of the buggy transportation is super-efficient & diligent. Also, there is a lot of focus on ESG as they promote sustainable living. They haven’t disturbed the local ecosystem inspite of providing all the luxury & facilities, with lot of green cover across the property. You won’t find any plastic consumables and usage of water is also optimized. You can even customize the type of pillow you need 😊
What makes this place unique and top notch, is the Quality & consistency of Service. I would like to mention 2 staff who made our stay memorable – Dr Sunitha (Customer Case Mgr) and Mr.Biddappa (Sr Supervisor at the restaurant. Both of them are just super stars in their respective roles. They both went out of their way and took personal care of all our needs. Dr Sunitha is super courteous, warm and efficient at our job. She takes personal care of each guest right from the time of booking and makes sure they feel always comfortable & welcomed. She will always come and check on you even if the place is busy.
Mr. Biddappa is a very experienced & caring person. He knows how to sense the needs of the guests and proactively cater to their needs. He took accountability of all our dinning needs and made sure it was an amazing experience to eat at the restaurant. I would recommend that they both be recognized and rewarded for the great job done.

Mr.Dinesh restaurant manager is running a great team here. Thank you.

What can be improved.
1. May be add few more options in the Cocktail drinks & ala carte Dessert menu. The price of the cocktails could be a tad bit lower.

Me and my husband chose Tamara for its location, and we were not disappointed at all. We booked a superior luxury cottage just for the view. For the 1st time in my life i saw so many stars and that was just worth it. But as and when we were spending time there we saw lot of flaws in the service, there wont be any room cleaning if you dont ask for, the tea cant be served to your room before 7.30 am, we attended the christmas dinner and till 8.30 pm the performers were setting up the stage and sound, and we were told that for cocktail we will be charged separately- as in what all we are putting in cocktail be it be Gin or Vodka or whiskey or any juices all will be charged separately (still couldnt understand the logic). When we complained about the same, next day a housekeeping lady came in and spent 20 mins on decorating our bed but left the other stuff as is. Jafar was accommodative while receiving our feedback and assured us that the next trip will be much better.

The Tamara Coorg: Beauty of Coorg captured in one place. Gorgeous luxury cottages based in welcoming nature, you experience serenity and calmness the moment you step in The Tamara Coorg. We booked 2 luxury cottages for 3 nights for family, to celebrate birthday and had the most beautiful and cherished experience.

We were assigned a relationship manager Mr. Amjith who was available to assist us during the entire stay. He suggested us good sighting places, shopping spots as well as helped us with our cottage stay requirements making our stay hassle free.
The rooms are spacious, luxurious, well designed and most comfortable with balcony views. In the morning you enjoy sun rise, vibrant birds and forest.

The staff (at the reception, golf car staff, at the restaurant, security, house keeping) was warm, polite and efficient. The food was delicious with good quality and hygiene, with good options for vegetarians. The ambience is lovely with live singing performances. The buggy drop ( Golf car) takes us from our cottage via beautiful trail to their restaurant "The Falls". Dear Guest, March will typically be sunny during the daytime and a pleasant breeze during the night. Waterfalls may not have the same flow as they were in September, however, March is the month of Coffee blossoms and Coffee plantations in the whole of Coorg, are expected to be filled with the aroma of Coffee flowers. Please feel free to contact us to plan your stay. Thank you, Team The Tamara

Hi. Yes, June it does start raining. If you like trekking, may not be the best time. However, rain had its own magic and it is fantastic near the falls

Yes it will be advisable to carry anti leech socks. check with the property if they now provide it. You will find leeches only if you opt for the ‘trail’ walks or treks. Nothing to worry within the property.

Currently, is Kannur the closest airport, or, Mysore? Also, when does the monsoon hit Coorg in June?
Answer from Team_The_Tamara

Dear Sameer, Kannur is the nearest airport and has better air connectivity than Mysore. Typically Monsoon arrives in Coorg by the first week of June, however, we already started getting pre-monsoon rains.
