The Landsby hotel boasts a prime location that guests find perfect for exploring nearby shops, restaurants, and wineries on foot. The decor and atmosphere of the hotel are often lauded for their charm and inviting nature, complemented by a staff that earns high marks for their attentive and friendly service. Cleanliness is another strong suit, with travelers consistently noting the well-maintained rooms and facilities. However, some guests have called out a lack of modern amenities and comfortable furniture in rooms, alongside noise issues. Despite the positive feedback on staff and cleanliness, there's a sentiment that the hotel might not provide the best value, with pricey additional charges and a mismatch between cost and room quality.

My famiy of four stayed in this hotel on the way down the PCH. We stayed at 5 hotels during our trip (it was 10 days) and The Landsby was by far the best. It had the best value for the standard size room. The room was spacious enough for a family of four to keep their luggage and still have room to move around. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated.

We stayed in Junior King Suite #53. The layout of the room is excellent. The sitting area is down three short steps and the dutch door on this side of the room leads out to the patio with a private small table and two chairs.Access to the hotel dining area, patio and main street of Solvang is super easy. There is a fire pit and comfortable seating right outside the room and we enjoyed cocktails there in the evening. We didn't see inside the other junior suites, but I liked the location of #53 because it's a bit further and more private from the dining area (now relocated to the interior patio.) Quality of the room and furnishings is lovely. Vinnie, a server at Mad & Vin is outstanding.

We rated Sleep Quality a 3, Average. At night, the bright strings of patio lights strung across the courtyard shined in the shutters which are not light-proof. Also, the bed squeaks -- a lot!

The Landsby is for those willing to pay a premium for location and comfort. The boutique vibe comes through with clean design, a charming property and comfortable rooms. I shared a room with a friend so we had two queen beds. The bathroom was a little tight for two, but otherwise we enjoyed a quiet, comfortable stay. We enjoyed happy hour downstairs at the bar which quickly filled with people and offered yummy eats and great local wine. We were able to explore Solvang without having to worry about driving anywhere -- anything further out was a quick and inexpensive uber ride away. Parking is $15 a day, which wasn't clear in advance, and the hotel provided ample parking.

Pros - Great location with parking. Super close to downtown for walking and sightseeing. Staff was super helpful and the inn itself is very cute. Shower facilities had great pressure and hot water.

Cons - The bed and pillows are SUPER soft, so if you need a more supportive bed, maybe not the best. Our room had a door for connecting to the adjacent room and there was virtually no sound barrier. Granted, the guests nextdoor were rather loud but the rooms are not very well sound insulated from guests or the street noise.

Had a Junior King Suite courtyard room. It was well appointed and 2 levels. Plenty of storage space and drawers, a refrigerator & Coffee Maker, nice amenities in the bathroom (robes, slippers and a large shower and a separate soaking tub), door access to courtyard where dining occurred during Covid-19 and to the rear of the unit. When requests were made of the staff they were unfailingly polite, professional and responsive. Good menu and more than adequate wine and drink list to accommodate most any palate. Check in was easy and there is lots of parking. I've stayed many times at the Fess Parker Hotel (Los Olivos), Four Seasons Biltmore (Montecito) and Bacara (Goleta) many times. I'd stay at the Landsby before returning to the Fess Parker Hotel (6 miles apart) as it's a better value and the location is excellent. I'd recommend it.

If you're looking for a warm, Danish modern, fully renovated and fabulous place to stay while exploring the wine region, this is your spot. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was fabulous. Great design, beautiful, roomy bathroom with separate huge soaking tub and gorgeous walk in shower and toilet separated behind a door within the space. A few steps down to your comfy living room area which has another door that opens to a little terrace with table & chairs overlooking the interior courtyard of the hotel & shops which is filled with dining tables and fire pits and lovely lights in the trees. The rooms are totally quiet, even with the outdoor dining just steps from the room. We loved it and will return.

This property is a MUST if you are considering staying in Solvang. I have been going to Solvang for decades but my first time at The Landsby. Get a Village Suite if you can. My room was immaculate and it was huge. I loved having a Dutch Door so I could open it up and get lots of fresh air into my room. The staff and the service were all five star. They made sure that you could have a completely contact free experience. They would sterilize and freshen the room daily if requested. Ice buckets were delivered without any fuss. Their restaurant would prepare meals for pick up and the food at the Mad and Vin was superb! Parking was easy and plentiful. I LOVED this property and cannot say enough good things about it. It truly captures the Danish experience with the minimal decorations in the room and also the immaculate condition of the room. You won't regret staying here.

This hotel leaves a lot of room for improvement due to the inconsistency in their hospitality and service. For spending 2 nights at one of their most expensive rooms - the tower suite (~$700 a night), the service was below average. My husband decided to surprise me since it was my birthday weekend. At check in, there were two persons at the lobby both of whom were very aloof, unwelcoming and unapproachable during the process. I also asked about breakfast and she informed me that the restaurant only does brunch. The next morning when we go to the restaurant @MadVin, I naturally said we are here for brunch. We sat and ordered which would have all been okay if it was not for my overcooked and unpresentable eggs Benedict - not exaggerating see photo. I also found it odd that the waitress asked me to put the overcooked egg on her hand as I asked her for new ones and I told her I can just leave them on my plate (Great intentions here but is that sanitary). I realized as I looked around that they did serve a regular breakfast and that the menu we were given was only brunch. Now the website clearly states brunch so I’m not sure who is inaccurate here - the restaurant or the lobby host.

I probably could have ignored all of this but the icing of this VERY inconsistent cake is the fact that at checkout, the nice lady offered the couple ahead of me checking in complimentary mimosas coupons if dining at breakfast at MadandVin and 2X1 tasting coupons. Which clearly we did not receive despite the over priced room we paid for. I was happy for the couple checking in and the fact that they happen to get the nice lobby host.

Speaking of consistency, I’m also confused that we were charged for parking and some reviewers weren’t although their stay is as recent as ours. Again, perhaps there was a promotion for that but I find that the hotel can improve by delivering a more consistent experience for their customers.

Convenient location, a bit loud

I booked this stay with less than a week’s notice after other plans fell through. I fell in love with the pictures and design. Once I arrived, the property did not disappoint! I stayed in the Luxury King (room 16) which was larger than expected. The bathroom was spectacular! It had two sinks, a large walk in shower and separate soaked tub. The robes provided were comfy as well. The room has shutter blinds on three sides of the room providing a ton of natural light in the airy room. The location of the property is within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the local general store.

The staff were all amazing! Friendly, professional, and helpful, I’m grateful for them making my stay a breeze. I can’t wait to book another stay here!

I was so disappointed in our overall experience here! We booked it based on all the amazing reviews online and ended up having such a terrible stay with terrible customer service. It started with the reservations. We booked a room online where the reservation room type was 1 king bed or 2 double beds. I called the hotel and provided my reservation number and requested 2 double beds. I was told a note had been made in the system. Upon arriving to the hotel, I was provided a room with a single king bed and told there was no record of my initial request and that there was nothing that could be done. The staff at the front desk was extremely rude and continued to tell me the issue was my problem and there was nothing they could do. They said the double room had a higher rate as well and there was no way they could move me into the room with my existing reservation. They offered to provide a rollaway bed at an additional charge and would not comp it because once it is entered in the system, it is a charge they cannot undo (which is completely false!!) After multiple conversations, the issue was escalated to the manager who was nice enough to help accommodate our requests. She did however mention multiple times that it was "not something they typically do," so while she helped us out, we still didn't feel very welcome.

The staff at the front desk refused to disclose where we could park our car until we had completed the check in process. It was 30 degrees outside at night and I had quickly run in to ask where to park. Instead I was told "that information could not be provided" and that unless I ran back out the car and got my credit card/ID to check in, I wouldn't be told where to park. An extremely terrible first impression!

Our first room had complimentary slippers in it (which we never used but had seen). When we moved to our second room, we had just returned from a spa day and wanted to lounge and relax. We couldn't find slippers in the room so we called the front desk. They told us "slippers don't come with our room type" (which is odd given that we were initially told our new room was reportedly more expensive) but that if we "really wanted them, they would try and find some." Again, just very rude and unnecessary

There are electric vehicle chargers in the public parking lot next to the Landsby. I believe the Landsby will let you plug in down on their underground lot if you bring your mobile charging kit. The Manager can confirm that point. I also understand that there is a Tesla Supercharger station in Buellton, about 15 minutes away.
