This place is a mixed bag. It has a great view of the Sierra Buttes, and room was large. But there were many incidents that will keep us from returning, and which affected our comfort. It was expensive for the area and lack of amenities. The night we arrived was the first strange incident. After driving all day we arrived... More

Really A MUST! The location, the stunning rooms, all 4 with tremendous views and amenities, lovely antique decor, gourmet breakfasts cooked by the friendly and oh so helpful proprietor, Bob! And I haven't even mentioned the luxurious bathrooms, picture perfect grounds and all the unmatched Lost Sierra scenery and hiking trails around the numerous lakes up Gold Lake Highway. The... More

Beautiful location on the North Fork of the Yuba River. Highly recommend the golden pond room. Beautiful grounds. Great food and bob was a great host. Fly fishing on the river was great. We recommend it if you want a wonderful get away. Only negative was having to remove our shoes in the house.

This is a lovely place to stay in Sierra City. The inn is beautifully decorated, Bob the host is very friendly and accommodating, and, best of all, the setting is gorgeous. When we arrived, we sat out on the deck for about an hour just basking in the quiet, green beauty of the scene. You have to make reservations to... More

This was a delightful discovery for us and a perfect location to spend our 3 day/night celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. Out of the many options of how to celebrate we chose hiking in the Lakes Basin with friends. This inn is at the perfect gateway to be close to the hiking and feel pampered on returning to "home... We (2 couples) came to Sierra City for a car show & stayed at the High Country In for 2 nights. It is a beautiful peaceful setting. Bob greeted us, entertained us and cooked the most amazing breakfasts. He has a wonderful sense of humor and we loved every minute of our stay. The fresh fruit was the best I... More

We always enjoy it when friends come to the Inn together when they really enjoy a new experience in a beautiful setting like Sierra City. The Classic Car Show was a lot of fun for an observer like me and I could see that you all enjoy traveling around to these shows to show to others how beautiful your cars... More

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at High Country Inn. Not enough. This is the absolute best B&B we have ever stayed at from New Orleans to San Juan Islands in Washington State. We stayed in the Golden Pond room, big, spacious and beautifully decorated. The King size bed was extremely comfortable and the sound of the Yuba... More

We were staying near Sierra City for a friend's wedding and were lucky to discover the High Country Inn. The grounds are beautifully well kept and the creekside hammock is a delight. Our room was clean and well appointed and the bathroom was great. As soon as we arrived Bob was very helpful directing us to some nearby hikes. There... More

Driving into the High Country Inn you see meticulously cared for grounds and beautiful hanging plants on the porch. There is a pond in the backyard and a river running next to the property! You are then greeted by Bob or Bette who welcome you like family and show you to your well appointed and stylish room. 5 Star all... More

I came upon this little slice of heaven because there wasn't any rooms left at the lodge in Calpine for Comatopia a music festival I was attending. Thank goodness! If not I never would have found High Country Inn. I've never left a place more rested and refreshed. Thanks Bob! Blessings, Chauna

I was glad to have seen you out on the Hammock along side of the Yuba River really just enjoying the peace and quiet of the Inn.
