Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

We stayed 4 nights at the Carmel, whilst the hotel is old it has been looked after and was always clean. The staff were always helpful and friendly. They have a pastry and coffee station downstairs everyday - enough to start the day off. The hotel is in a great location for

We spent one night at Hotel Carmel at the end of our USA trip. As there were 3 adults and a child, we booked a suite with 2 queen beds and were quite surprised to find that when we entered the front door there were 2 good sized bedrooms with walk in closets. Yes it is kind of

Location is great. But one would assume Broadway was a racetrack with the noise from within the room of cars, people, sirens etc. The room was clean but very dated. Green carpets! Old, big furniture. Fridge is up on a side table. No kettle or coffee facilities in the room.

We spent three nights at this hotel over Thanksgiving. The best thing about the hotel is its location, between Ocean Ave. and the 3rd Street Promenade. Everything else is adequate at best. The rooms were clean but spartan. The shower was barely functional. Housekeeping did

While the hotel is located very close to the beach, my husband and I did not enjoy the city of Santa Monica or the hotel. For the hotel, there was no air conditioning in the room so we had to leave our window open and hear all the city traffic and sirens. It was really hot and

I'm so sorry we left you with an unfavorable impression of our hotel and our destination, Santa Monica. We very much respect and acknowledge your opinions and your review is a disappointment to us to read. I did want to mention that all of our guest rooms have individual guest controlled air-conditioning units. If your unit was malfunctioning, your review does not indicate that you did, or did not report it to us for repair. We would have been delighted to fix that issue for you and make your stay a more comfortable experience. If by chance you reported it to us and we didn't correct the problem, we should have offered to move you to an alternative guest room. In addition, given the historic nature of our building, we are unable to have ice machines on each floor as you might be accustomed to seeing. Yes, providing ice service through the front desk from our ice machine located on the first floor is unconventional, but for the most part, we can accommodate the needs of our guests and we do deliver to guest rooms. Again, I'm very sorry you did not enjoy your time in our hotel or Santa Monica. We always strive for a much more favorable experience than your review reflects and I regret that you left our hotel and our destination with adverse feelings. I also wanted to let you know that I appreciate your candor and direct feedback and as mentioned above, respect your opinions as well as your observations.Thank you. Sincerely, Angela

What is the easiest/cheapest way to get from LAX to Hotel Carmel?
Oops very late answer. We used Uber - quick and pretty cheap.
