Yes, the location is great, it has character, and the staff are friendly enough. But the hotel is old, cold, and far from modern hotel standards. When we arrived, the room was very cold, there was no heating within the room, and the kids were freezing. We spoke to reception, they tried to get the gas heater working in the... More

The staff are awesome! Very helpful and happy. Especially Aaron and James. Location Is absolutely fantastic easy walk to the pier as well as third street promenade. And well you can't beat it for the price. Rooms neat, tidy and clean. Would definitely stay again and look forward to our next Santa Monica trip!

The hotel is not your standard hotel, it's smaller and quite fun and cool. The location is perfect one street away from the beach and a block from the pier. The staff were excellent and extremely friendly and helpful with our stay. The rooms were all you need but there was a spa bath as well as a shower. There... More

This is our 4th stay and with each stay have noticed more improvement. This time the WiFi is working efficiently. The gardens have been upgraded with lots of outdoor seating. The back courtyard is a nice area to have drinks/snacks etc or just chill out. We usually stay in a ground level room as there are no lifts. This is... More

Small hotel in a great location. Very retro and perhaps a bit dated but we were only there for two days. A few good places to eat around there. We did a tour from there also and they picked us up and dropped us off.

So close to the Santa Monica pier and down town Santa Monica , less than 5 min walk to the mall. Take the side access and your on the beach in 1 min. This is an older hotel but still a great place to stay , we had a room out the front and there was a little road noise... More

If you want to feel the spirit of California - this hotel is one of the best choices. Great location and very reasonable prices. Hotel has its own territory with flowers and funny quotes. Hotel is 2 min from the beach and famous Santa Monica Pier. The Broadway is also not far away.

The best location, walked to the beach and then all the way to Venice Beach. Nice place to relax outside and beds were so comfortable inside. Very friendly staff. Would stay here again. Parking is difficult but was able to get a spot on site.

We stayed here our first night off the plane from a long flight. The staff are friendly and very attentive. There isn't a great deal of parking on site but there is parking on the street. The beds were amazing. The rooms are clean and very trendy but it is an older hotel. You can't be the location with direct... More

We stayed here for 5 days over New Year's to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. A friend who works on the Santa Monica pier recommended this place, and we were not disappointed. This place is a treasure, a historic throwback beach hotel dating to 1911 (one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city) that has been kept in amazing... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
