We stayed with our young family in feb 2011. The rooms were clean and recently renovated. It was close to the beach but a fair walk tor estaurants and shops with young kids. Our biggest issue was security. The rooms faced out onto the street. At 1am we had someone knock on our door three times. Asa family with young...

I stayed at Bayside while on some R & R during a business trip to the US with a work mate. Bayside is a great location, right across the road from the beach, around the corner from the pier and just a few minutes walk from The Promenade and Main Street. The rooms were clean, bed was huge, bar snacks...

I spent 2 nights at the Bayside after choosing it from reading reviews on Trip Advisor. It was clean with a huge comfortable bed, just over the road from the surf beach. As the gates were locked every night, I felt safe on my own. It is an easy 10 minute walk from the pier and main hub of Santa...

Having spent 2 nights at the Hilton Hollywood & 6 nights t the JW Marriott in Palm Desert, arriving at The Bayside was something of a let down, especially having read several negative reviews before travelling. Everything seems a little shabby & neglected, but do not be put off - the rooms are clean, beds comfortable & the shower has...

A very basic hotel, not sure where the photos came from attached to this hotel but they certainly weren't of the room we stayed in. We received a very cold welcome at reception upon arrival, he gave the impression that we'd just prevented him getting an all time high score on Solitaire so not a great start to our experience...

Hadn't originally planned to stay in Santa Monica but changed our minds at the last minute. What a mistake that was! Apart from the bank of thick cloud making the 'bayside' location somewhat irrelevant, this was not happy stay. Concur with some of the other reviewers that the Bayside is more of a motel than a hotel, which would suggest...

An OK hotel - while it is not a high class place, it is clean, in a great location and reasonable in price for what it is. While we stayed at better on our tour of California, the shower was 2nd only to the Wynn! I get the feeling it is used by locals (well within 30 miles) as a...

This hotel fit our needs, but depending on what you're looking for it may not be the best fit for everyone. Some of the pros include: location (safe area; within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, beach; LA is a 10 minute drive); price (we paid $159 a night and neighboring hotels charge well over $300); free WIFI; updated decor in...

People at the frontdesk were not so nice, more irritating, it was busy and there were 2 guys at the frontdesk, not very helpfull. Rooms were okay, but very noisy and warm. Location is very good, great ocean vieuw and 10 minutes walk form the Santa Monica pier. The hotel needs a change and a little bit of new paint.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
