The owner of this place, Sid, is a very nice guy, helped me out with maps, lots of fruit and is a genuine interested listener. The hotel feels like a warm family. I'll remember L.A. as a beautiful, nice place.
We stayed here for two nights as nothing else was available, the staff were nice enough but the motel badly needs repairs, fairly run down and very basic. Paint flaking off walls, doors that look like they have been kicked in a few times, very...More
Although $75 a night doesn't seem cheap, it's the lowest you can get in the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area, which is where all the fun and nightlife is (especially Abbot Kinney, a hipster bar/restaurant strip in Venice). Anything cheaper will be a 30 minute drive...More

Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
