I had read a review about this place that said, you get what you pay for. Totally true! This may be one of the cheapest places around, but before you stay here you might as well consider camping or sleeping on the lot of a Walmart. The room was decorated with a hodge podge of furniture, rags, cushions, chair -... More

Unfortunately I paid for in advance from a non refundable internet site and still did not stay after inspecting the room. Mold and urine smell, Soiled mattress and bed covers, sink cabinet door hanging from one hinge, simply a very old, unkept, very small room not even worthy of half the advertised price.

My only piece of advice is DO NOT STAY HERE!! The place is disgusting, we were given a room that was so dirty we asked for another. We were given another that was equally as bad. The sheets on the bed were disgusting and didn't match. The room was painted yet there was one patch on the wall that was... More

By chance found Pavillions, A small "motor motel" from back in the day. this place seems to have a reicent upgrade (Rm.12) small rooms and small bathrooms. All rooms are non smoking with a smoking court yard that is very pleaseant to sit in. Staff is super friendly too. Take #8 bus from Main st. just off the pier to... More

Pavilions Motel is NOTHING like the pictures! It is a rat hole that should not be open. I should have slept in my car. The dump wreaked from paint that may have caused me to inhale toxic lead poisons. The two postage stamp soaps in the tiny excuse for a bathroom sat next to a clump of hair on the... More

The owner of this place, Sid, is a very nice guy, helped me out with maps, lots of fruit and is a genuine interested listener. The hotel feels like a warm family. I'll remember L.A. as a beautiful, nice place.

We stayed here for two nights as nothing else was available, the staff were nice enough but the motel badly needs repairs, fairly run down and very basic. Paint flaking off walls, doors that look like they have been kicked in a few times, very old fittings and small rooms. It is also up near 23rd street so it's quite... More

Although $75 a night doesn't seem cheap, it's the lowest you can get in the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area, which is where all the fun and nightlife is (especially Abbot Kinney, a hipster bar/restaurant strip in Venice). Anything cheaper will be a 30 minute drive away on freeways in (more dangerous) South Central LA. The place is quite run down,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
