If you want a beautiful hotel right across from the beach in one of the most beautiful parts of Santa Monica, stay at the hotel Shangri-La. The rooms are huge, all the ones we saw were king-size suites. Also, if you need to go anywhere, their excellent driver Chokri knows the city by heart and is extremely helpful. Much nicer...

This is where we go for a small weekend getaway while we are in LA. The bathroom - bathtubs opening to the bedroom is such a fun, unique aspect of the rooms, something not to be missed! A great place to stay for couples, near the beach, good in-room dining and nearby eateries. Love it here.

Thank you so much for leaving your review on TripAdvisor. It is always so wonderful to read about our guests enjoying the unique styles and aspects of our hotel. We are so proud to be a historical landmark, and we are even more proud of our recent renovation that infused the art-deco roots with a very classy modern style. Thank...

This the second we have stayed here, the first time was 3 years ago. For this stay we payed for a king de-lux with a sea view the same as one we had stayed in last time, we remembered it being very small but the view over the sea and the pier compensated for the room size. We arrived at...

Booked through booking.com Chose it due to other great reviews...but also the old style Hollywood...with a modern feel...as it dates back to the 1930's but had a huge Reno back in 2006... You feel the old Hollywood... We had a ocean facing room...level three...still a fantastic view from that level...nothing to complain about..so easy to walk upto 3rd Promenade shopping...but...

Very chic! Everything near third street promenade with all shops that we need. Apple store, bloomingdales, victoria secret, restaurants, market, mobile store. Hair dressing, car parking. The hotel is very clean, rooms with a lot of space, coffee maker in the rooms, airport pickup, and a wonderful sunset in the roof of the hotel with music and a lot of...

Smallest, most cramped room I've ever stayed in, and I was in NYC two weeks ago. Not really worth the price. Feel like I'm in a refurbished closet. The location is good but the hotel needs an overhaul and the rooms in particular are pretty dumpy.

First and foremost, thank you for leaving your review on TripAdvisor. We are so grateful for your experience and perspective. We apologize that our rooms felt small to you. Naturally, we want our guests to feel as expansive as the beach environment in which we occupy. Like hotels in NYC, our building has been in existence since the 1930's. While...

Very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Shangri-La. It was a bit of a walk across the sand to the Santa Monica Pier and ocean but "promenade" above/along the ocean was across the street and a great place to people watch and enjoy the ocean view. Only a short walk to 3rd Avenue Promenade which had great shopping, restaurants and...

The rooftop bar is superb! What a great view over santa monica at night. The place could do with a few more waiters as we waited 20 minutes to get service. There is a bonfire in the corner which you can sit around and drink. That is a lovely touch and very practical in the cool evenings.

Thank you so much for spending time at our roof-top lounge Suite 700. It is the only indoor/outdoor roof-top lounge in Santa Monica, and it gives our guests the quintessential southern California sunset. Truly breathtaking. Please come back and see us again. The location was perfect - across the street from the SM Pier and walking distance to 3rd Street Promenade. The hotel was on the trendy side, but there were parts that could have been upgraded a bit. Terrible bar on top of the hotel which was grubby, and not nearly worth the hype. I assume people go there because there aren't any other roof top bars. It would be so easy to upscale this place and tidy it up as the location is very good.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
