Our history began when Jack Mariani settled in Santa Clara in 1907. After farming his orchards for many years, he was inspired to pull out five acres of prune trees and create the Inn and Restaurant. Ever since, our guests have experienced lodging and dining of the highest caliber in a relaxing, homelike atmosphere. You're sure to enjoy your stay, because we operate the way Jack Mariani designed it - as a family place!

Stayed here in the Spring of 2004. On the up side...great breakfast each morning included in price with superior wait staff to great you at the start of your day. Friendly front desk. New bathrooms, a small fridge in the room, central location and quiet. On the down side...no high speed hook ups or additional jack for lap top, phone on opposite side of small table (the only place to put a lap top), not enough light to conduct business at night, carpet was old, worn and stained, must take stairs to the second floor. Would I stay again...not if I had to conduct any business dealings.

I had booked a room at another hotel on Hotwire and when I arrived at the hotel they were overbooked. The desk clerked then confirmed a credit back to my Visa & then referred me to Mariani's Inn which was suppose to be a comparable type hotel. The outside of the property reminded me of a aging motel in need of a good pressure wash and a coat of paint. The front door of my room had a 1/8 crack in the bottom of the door and door jam. My bed was comfortable and clean. When I went into the bathroom there was black mold on the ceiling above the shower. The top of the shower ledge had mold and insect droppings below the windowsill. Gross!! The Kitchen wall had paint peeling off the wall and the kitchen windowsill in one quarter had dirt on it. When I checked out the next day I asked for a 50% discount off a $199 room & the front desk manager Ana offered me $30 discount. I showed her the photos & she gave me a $50 discount off the bill. I emailed her my photos the following day. This hotel should be 2 stars due to lack of maintenance. The hot breakfast was fine scrambled eggs, French toast, fruit and bacon.

We stayed at the Mariani's Inn this past week and found it to be a comfortable stay. When we got there, the manager talked to us and when she found out that we were in the area to check out wedding sites, she upgraded us to a suite. She and her staff were very nice! The "suite" was a converted studio-apartment with a separate room for kitchen/dining area, separate bathroom and walk-in closet. It was very spacious. It felt like living in a real apartment as opposed to a hotel! The place is old but well-maintained. We stayed in the back which was away from the street and hence, quieter. The only complaint we had: their free wireless signal was very very weak and it was hard for me to do work online. They also had free breakfast everyday till 9:30am but unfortunately, we woke up too late for it! But there are other restaurants along El Camino which made it easy to find something to eat. Overall, the hotel is not spectacular but with the great customer service and location, it's worth checking out!

Rented out a room for a friend that was Traveling home from San Fran to So Cal she got in a car accident so need a room while wait for me to get her a plane flight home. She was in the room for 3 days recovering from the accident. She said the Top Sheet had a burn on it as well as the bathroom walls and stained carpets. When they emailed me a copy of the bill i got a $200 dollar charge for a burnt bed spread they said she damaged yet she doesnt smoke. I called them and argued with them getting no where. I then said if i am paying $200 for it i want it shipped to me which they did. When i opened the box it was a sheet according to the label not a bed spread like their billing claimed, so i called them and they said thats what they use for a bed spread. I googled the brand on the label wild olive you can buy them from Bed Bath and Beyond for $179 for the whole set of sheets and they charged me $200 for the top sheet out of the set... This place is a joke and i recommend everyone check the room throughly and report everything or get Really Screwed by Them . will never use them agian motel 6 is a better stay...

*****BEWARE*****: Our visit started out bad when we got to our room that was for three people and had one queen bed (we knew this) but absolutely NO other place to sleep besides on the floor on the industrial grade carpet on concrete. When we called the front desk to ask about a roll away they said that it was $20.00 more a night (which was not mentioned when the reservation was made) AND that you could not even put a roll away in the room because it was a fire hazard. In other words the room that we booked for THREE people could only sleep TWO. They said we could move to a room with two queens -- for an extra $25.00 a night. I was not willing to pay that much more, if I had known the 'true cost' I would have looked elsewhere in the first place, and probably found a name brand hotel for an equal price!!
The hotel denied all accountability because they said 'I went though a third party'. I swear I went through their website, but really that is irrelevant, here is why: I went and made a 'dummy reservation' for a future date, GOING THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE. Again, I was allowed to make a reservation for three in a room with only one queen. I showed this to them to prove that THEY had an issue. Apparently they do not have their records set up to show that a room with one queen is for no more than two people!!!
In addition in doing this I also learned that if I had chosen to 'upgrade' when I made that reservation it would have only cost approximately $7.50 more a night for the two queen room! When I asked why they could not give me that rate, they would not budge, insisting that they could only offer it to me at the $25.00 rate. *I* was willing to compromise on the $7.50 additional rate (which I honestly did not feel I should even have to do), but THEY were not willing to compromise at all!
During this whole incident I was treated as if *I* should have known that I could not sleep three in a room with one queen. I informed then that *I* was not the one in the hotel industry, and it was NOT my job to know everything. I also pointed out that I have been to plenty of other hotels where I requested one bed for three people but the hotel had a sofa available, or a roll away. Never before have I been allowed to make a reservation at any other hotel where there were not sleeping accommodations for the number of people on the reservation.
Even after my proving that they had an issue with their reservation system, I got no apology, no sympathy, and no correction to the matter.
At no time was I allowed to speak to a manager. The front desk person went in the back one time I believe calling a manager, another time I believe speaking to a manager in person. I believe that a customer should ALWAYS be allowed to speak TO a manager, not be forced to play the telephone-game through a clerk.

In addition to this very big problem there were uncountable other issues with our visit.

From the street, Mariani's Inn looks to be a decent place to stay. The front desk clerk was very polite and the lobby had a welcoming and quaint feel to it. However, the lobby is where it ends. As I left the lobby and drove into the parking area, I was greeted with litter and cigarette butts. The stairs were old and slightly spooky with the compromised wooden railings and outdated astro-turf material covering the steps.

I booked a room with 2 queen beds but when I checked in, I was given a room with 2 full beds. I decided to try them out to see if they would accomodate us. Not only were they too small, they were the MOST uncomfortable beds I have ever lay upon. They were far too thin and flimsy and they bounced badly. The restrooms are tiny, with small rounds seats for the toilet that you might find in a preschool. The lack of recent updating was eveident everywhere. The advertised "blackout" curtains did little to keep out any light.

I went back to the lobby and informed the clerk that the beds were not what I had paid for and wanted a different room boasting the accomodations I booked. The clerk was apologetic, admitting the room had 2 full beds even though at check in, she stated "2 queen beds". She offered me another room so I went to have a look. It's wasn't hard to see that this room was not much better then the previous. The beds were queens and they were a little more firm but still not comfortable. I had specifically asked for a non-smoking room as I have a child with asthma, however upon entering the new room, the smell of stale cigarette smoke assailed my nostrils with such an offensiveness that it triggered a gag reflex. The walls were filthy, looking as if someone had walked through the oil and grime in the parking lot and then lay on the bed with their feet on the wall. The TV was dusty and the bathroom mirror looked to have that dried toothpaste/saliva gunk that messy brushers leave.

I went back to the lobby again and told the clerk that this place was disgusting, certainly not reflective of what was advertised and that I would not stay. The clerk was again sincerely apologetic, a trait likely acquired by much practice. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever encountered. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for accomodations in the Santa Clara/San Jose area.

This hotel is a dump! Don't stay here

Got sent here because my other hotel was sold out. I should have known when no one was at the front to leave.
They sent me to the back of the property as a woman at 1:30am only to discover my room had crap all over the floor and no sheets on the bed, brooms everywhere. Huh?! I was furious! So I walked all the way back only to get a new key after complaining and got a new room. I walked all the way back to the new room and since they have manual keys to open the door, it literally broke off in the door.

At that point, I was out.
I do not recommend this hotel for any reason.

Checked in at 2pm. They charged me $20 extra for coming an hour early even though I'm staying 2 days. I go all around to back of hotel, my room faces an ugly parking lot. Big bulky key that I was warned if I don't physically Bring down at checkout they will charge for it. At this point I was worried. I open the door and the room is a budget motel. Motel 6 is updated and nicer than this. Room hasn't been renovated in years for sure. I booked 2 nights but I can tell this motel won't let you out of it cause that's probably how they stay in business. I'm really kicking my butt for not doing more research. There's black around toilet on ground. There's plastic sticking out of bed under the paper thin sheet. On the plus side there's a fridge. Housekeeper was this little Asian older woman who was very friendly when I asked for extra towels.

This motel has nothing came closed to what they show on their website. The staffs are nice and helpful but the rooms are old, dark, stink, and has ants. We requested for non smoking room but our room smells really bad. There was a ant hill in our bathroom and lots of running ants around the window. Informed the staff, they aren't surprised at all. The beds are really old and you will sink into the middle of the bed. Terrible!! So bad and wanted to check out but no refund will be given!

Needed a place in San Jose near the airport for one night between two travel days. Got a good rate, but brought me right back to "you get what you pay for".

Chose this place because it advertised free airport shuttle. Paid for it in advance to ensure rate. Payment was non-refundable. When I landed at 9:30 pm, and called the front desk, I was told shuttle service ended at 9:00 pm.

Got to the hotel and complained that free shuttle is advertised in the booking site, but was told the umbrella site recommends checking with the hotel. Very misleading! No desire on the part of this non-franchised management to please me as a disappointed guest. They should advertise limited service, instead of snagging guests and then reneging on a technicality

Property itself very, very run down and dirty. Both hotel and restaurant. Lots of repairs needed. Filthy rugs, chair in my room needed to be covered with a hand towel before I could sit. Luckily, bed sheets, pillow and bathroom clean, for which I left a tip for the maid.

Free breakfast non-remarkable.

Would not stay here again. Would not recommend it.
